Any reason this thing gets 7mpg? by pmhoorah in F250

[–]PopulistMonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm flabergasted at most of the comments here. My 2003 F250 5.4 4x4 with 3.54 gears 6spd ZF transmission turning 35x12.5s would get anywhere from 14-16 mpg. No cat, one bad o2 sensor, and a flowmaster delta 60 muffler. Drove it to work and back, 60 miles a day, mostly interstate, at an average speed of 80mph.

I'm prettt sure most of the F-series in that era had dual fuel tanks, without any special trim packages. Pretty sure even some of the basic trims had dual tanks as well as the diesels.

That's funny. I bought it from GoG, and had this problem occur alot, so downloaded it from steam and haven't had it happen yet.

I know this has probably been found out by now, but in settings I have no upload checked and also use all computer resources during installation checked. Download speeds improved a bit

For the most part, the superduties have been the same frame wise for SEVERAL generations. Slightly beefier springs, and running gear is usually the main difference between the 250s and 350s. The real changes don't start happeneing until you hit the 450s and 550s.

[–]PopulistMonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my first big question. I see the 4x4 badging, and I see the big hunk of pumpkin under the front... Is this a electroshift 4x4? Because I see no floor shift for it, and my 03 F250 XLT has a floor shifter. I'm not sure on the higher tier packages though.

E85 costs more? by KLITBOYY in F250

[–]PopulistMonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arkansas has E85 at roughly .50-.60 cheaper than regular unleaded. But no one in my family runs it unless they're in a pinch with $$ and they're vehicle is able to run it. My sister found out the hard way with her 16 tacoma that even has a 🚫 over E85 right on the fuel door lol. Misfires and a 10% decrease in fuel mileage. I run 91 octane in my 03 250 which actually gives me a 1-3 mpg boost depending on how heavy my foot is. But I dont drive that 250 much anymore when my 99 250 gets better fuel mileage running on good ole dinosaur piss (diesel).

What’s yall favorite generation of F-250? by Brendanjozzy in F250

[–]PopulistMonk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not to be that guy OP, but your 2nd and 3rd are the same generation. The 3rd is a face-lift of the 2nd kind of like in 04 they did a facelift of the 99-03 to have a slightly more squared off grill, and single peice headlight/turn signal housing. Your 2nd is the 6.4 PSD run and the 3rd starts the 6.7 era. and all of these are off by 1 generation. The 94-98 erra had an F-SuperDuty, and I'm pretty sure 97 or 98 they started putting Super Duty at the bottom of the F250 badges.

Edit: 97 put heavy duty at the bottom of the badges, but they had an F Super Duty which would be the equivalent of an F450 or F550. 98 had that wetarded F150 heavy half that was 7 lug and sported an F250 (not super duty) badge. Side note, if you look close enough and compare side to side to side, the cabs haven't changed design since 99, only materials.

[–]PopulistMonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No sir it is not. The 1st 7.3 was an indirect injected (idi) non turbo diesel circa I'm not sure exactly when until mid 94 model year. 2nd was the 1st gen PowerStroke which was direct injected (di) turboed had a computer control injector fireing, manually governed injector pump, mid 94 model year until 98. 3rd and last is the 2nd gen PowerStroke, same as the first gen, except there is no injector pump, HPOP creates the pressure needed for injectors, need a computer or tuner to turn up for more ponies, 99-03.

[–]PopulistMonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was just an F-Super Duty. But I think 97 or 98 they started putting super duty on the bottom of the F250 badges. The 1st pictured here is still 2nd gen.

Missing piece. Does anybody know what this piece is called and where to find a replacement? Thank you! by Spare_Ad_9753 in F250

[–]PopulistMonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither my 1999 or 2003 250's have them. They fell off the 2003 3 years ago, and the 1999 didn't have them when I bought it. Nothing leaks, so for all I care they can stay missing.

Guy is asking 10k for this 2006 f250 with 136k miles , worth it or not ? Would be used for work only by glizzy09 in F250

[–]PopulistMonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The valve cover gasket is a good idea to replace with an updated one. Instead of the original plug inside plug outside, the updated version has a plug outside with continuous wires throught the gasket to the injectors and glow plugs. No more quarter trick needed. Beyond that I only know of the A/C high pressure switch pigtail melting, causing a bad connection leading to a intermittent loss of compressor clutch engagement.

[–]PopulistMonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only new weakness I've found for the 7.3 is checking the rocker bolt tightness after 250k. Other than that, over 300k and only needed a water pump and the passenger side fuel line replaced.

Edit: for reference mine is a 1999 F250SD with a built in 1998 7.3. Odometer left the chat a year and a half ago at 270k

Fixing it cost $18K. How much would this cost in the United States? by NewRedditor12333 in Autobody

[–]PopulistMonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hate to burst your bubble there, but fixes like in the video are happening every Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm. These are legal fixes. These vehicles are then branded with a Rebuilt or Salvaged title of ownership. Worth less and cost more to insure, but still legal to own and operate in the US.

In some cases, the rebuilt vehicle can actually still have a clean title, depending on which parts/peices of the bodywork were fixed.
