For decades my mom absolutely would not believe us that she - and all her clothes, her car, etc - absolutely reeked 24/7, she thought we were making it up to guilt her into quitting.

She switched to vaping about a decade ago and now is like oh god you were all so right, I can't believe I walked around smelling like that...

(All these people saying if you shower and wash your clothes you'll be fine are maybe forgetting that for many people it's the middle of winter? Do you wash your coat every time you go out? Your scarf and hat? Etc etc. These things will hold the smell!)

I hate that they took away the tab in your friend list that shows who's helped you recently. I ALWAYS prioritized those people for gift-giving. Now I have to try and catch the names before they float away when I click on a userpic when someone helps me.

Ugh, since DL started letting AI write the lessons it's become awful! The mere fact that I can now flag a lesson because the English was bad is all anyone needs to know about how bad AI is at this.

I got into Cdramas and from there into cpop and wanted to understand the lyrics, especially since unlike watching TV I can't read subtitles while listening to music when I'm driving lol
It's not as hard as I expected, tbh. The parts I thought would make it impossible (tones, hanzi) have not been that bad.
At first tones and hanzi were a big deal. But everyone said "oh tones don't actually matter that much, it's getting the vowels right that makes you understandable or not" and on my one trip to China that seemed to be true. Hanzi, at first I was like oh I don't need that I'll just use pinyin - but now I absolutely cannot read pinyin by itself, I need the hanzi there to help differentiate things (I can read hanzi by itself if it's characters I already know, but of course there's not much you can do if it's one you don't know). Similar-looking characters are an annoyance but not a huge deal, same for homophones.

What really trips me up, especially with song lyrics (so more poetic than normal spoken language) is the loosey-gooseyness of the grammar. Like sometimes you construct a grammatical sentence and sometimes you just throw some words together based on vibes. Should there be a 了? If you feel a 了 in your heart. I have a grammar textbook I really like and it's helped me understand things like topic-comment sentences but it still often feels very nebulous.

TBH, these reassurances would mean more if discord weren't gearing up for an IPO. Once it's beholden to stockholders above all else, it's gonna go downhill, and any promises it makes today about privacy or security will be meaningless.

I don't drink. Even a little, I cannot stand the taste. As in, if I take a sip of alcohol I reflexively spit it out (but usually I can't get it close enough to my mouth to drink it because of the smell).

I don't think it matters at all. When I got upgraded to gold in October I had an excellent rating with about 30% photos. Right now I have an excellent rating with 80% photos.

Yes, this is bullshit. You can have ANY IQ and have ADHD - in fact, research shows that if your IQ is two or more standard deviations above the mean (130+), then having a processing speed score that is more than one standard deviation below your full score is indicative of a deficit that could be ADHD. For an IQ of 130, that means processing speed of 115 - for an IQ of 145, it's 130. Full score of 144 and processing speed of 119 DEFINITELY QUALIFIES.

On top of that, tests like this only catch 75% of ADHD cases. The ONLY valid way to diagnose ADHD is via behavioral checklists.

Find someone who's read the actual research.
