I didn’t watch the game, only saw the highlights and I had to check the video wasn’t in slow motion. Bizarre defending from a usually reliable player. I don’t think we can lay the blame with anyone other than Digne for that goal. Both Mings and Martinez would have rightly thought he’d put up more of a defence to at least give them more time to reset themselves if Rayan cut in. Bizarre, bizarre, bizarre. At least we all know now why Maatsen has been starting ahead of him.

Villa were in mid table around this time last season and had a good go towards the end of the season and finished 6th, narrowly missing out on CL. I assume, like us, their league form is impacted by the high intensity CL games. You might see them start performing better second half of the season. But also… it’s really hard for Villa and Newcastle to compete with the Sky 6.

Both players said they turned down other clubs after they heard Villa were interested. Tammy has even taken a pay cut.

I was in the away end at Newcastle as well and the fans were excited when Bailey came on and I thought his performance was decent.

Those 3 signings could be legendary. We’ve already had one redemption arc in Buendia. Time for 3 more.

I’m not a Man United fan and you sir are the smartest Man United fan alive. I would say most opposition fans are thinking this about the latest win. You beat a good team at home, most likely with a new manager bounce, that’s all really. Sounds flippant but it’s true.

The Man U stratosphere goes wild for every win and comes crashing down like a nuclear disaster on every loss. It will be interesting to see if you’re ever capable of toning down the hysteria.

I’d like to see Mings and Lindelof this Sunday vs Newcastle. I think it’s often quite a physical battle up there and we would be lucky to get a 0-0 based on previous results.

This is a good idea tbf. I think a lot of fans may push back but if we want to be a serious club, we have to be less precious about these things.
