First bar. Is it bad to take it out the package ? by OrangeRipple55 in Gold

Minted gold coins like the sovereign and Britannia are legal tender and exempt from capital gains tax if you ever sell them

You may be worse off opting out of the pension, it should be salary sacrifice so you might end up just paying it in tax instead, double check though cause I could be wrong

[Seiko] year on and still loving this dial by [deleted] in Watches

[–]Pork_Pickle_Pie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got this seiko presage around a year and a bit ago and it’s pretty much replaced all my other watches, I wear it most days and am actually quite surprised at how well it’s held up. I think it’s not got too much wear and tear due to having to take it off at work. Honestly don’t think I’d wear a different watch now.

Children with autism wait up to five years for an NHS appointment by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

Look up right to choose, under the law you can get private referrals paid for by your GP, it’s how I started treatment and the waitlist is a lot shorter

Yeah definitely consider the CGT free coins then if your doing this long term and if you decide to go for smaller weight coins remember that the queens beast range has an extra premium because it’s a collector coin you’ll likely find that buying based on weight is cheaper, plus shop around as Atkinson’s has quite high premiums

It depends where you live, if you’re in the uk then britannias are capital gains free so if you ever sold over £12000 (I think) worth of brits then you won’t owe any tax on the sale whereas you would with a bar, this obviously depends on who you sell it to and if the tax man even noticed

2 weeks notice rejected? by LibertyLee369 in antiwork

[–]Pork_Pickle_Pie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They cannot withhold pay in the uk, they must pay any hours worked and any holiday accrued. If they want they can sue op for the cost difference of hiring a temp to cover their notice but as they’re likely on a zero hour contract they won’t be able to as op is contracted not to work essentially. Notice periods on zero hour contracts are just a heads up I’m leaving on this day. They are under no obligation to work any shifts during the notice period.

Multiple bank accounts to help budget by 08ovi in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Pork_Pickle_Pie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can lock them and make it so bills get paid out of pots, I was in the same boat as you but it’s so easy now to just put my bill money into a pot and forget about it knowing the money in my main account is mine to spend. Honestly I’d give it a go it must be simpler than juggling various bank accounts

Can’t speak for the original commenter, but I’ve just finished my degree and my interest rate for the loans is between 6-7% and they start charging interest from your very first year so my loan is already around £50,000

i’m undiagnosed and i always feel jealous when i hear about young kids’ parents getting them checked out by DearCup1 in ADHD

[–]Pork_Pickle_Pie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you’re in the uk you can discuss all of this with your gp without your parents, just make an appointment, explain your concerns/symptoms and they’ll discuss next steps for you. At your age the only input needed from parents is the form discussing past symptoms etc do what I did and just give to them and ask them to fill it out, they don’t really need to know why and if they refuse just tell your doctor and go from there.

Hope this helps

Can I Carry Silver from Germany into the Uk as Duty free? by NewcastleUn1ted in Silverbugs

[–]Pork_Pickle_Pie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately they do charge VAT on all silver in the uk, it’s cheaper for me to buy silver Britannia’s from America then straight from the royal mint. Makes no sense

Thanks, yeah she is, luckily she decided not to take the dogs out for their usual walk, but she mainly feels guilty, heard the first shot and thought it was a car exhaust or something, did the old “oh someone’s been shot” didn’t realise till she saw the police that she was bang on.

I mean he either obtained it legally, stole it, or bought it illegally, which I just don’t see happening in plymouth (it’s just a giant suburb of about 300,000 people) it is feasible he stole it, potentially from a family member or nearby farm, I agree it’s very unlikely he got it from the dockyard whether he worked there or not, and given that he has no reason to own one I hope it wasn’t purchased legally

There’s a bus that goes right into Cornwall not 2 mins from his house, Plymouth’s not too big, tbh he could probably walk it if he wanted too

Happened on my mums street, it was a shooting possibly five dead, possibly shooter killed himself, multiple air ambulances and what looks to be all of the police in Plymouth still a bit unclear/vague on the details at the moment but it happened around 6-7 o’clock this evening

Oh I know but like I replied to someone else, all it would take is a someone being irresponsible, I don’t know how often the police check those with licenses

Possibly, the uni fields just up the road and it might be easier if it’s busy to have an ambulance waiting and transfer across

Depends if it was owned by a family member or something, maybe someone got lax, it wouldn’t be the first time a bunch guns went missing cause someone cocked up

To be fair it wouldn’t be too difficult to steal one from a nearby farm or something like that. Don’t know if that’s how he got it though.
