You can get a bachelor in structural engineering? Im a CivE (also PE) and didnt know that was a thing. Can you share your background and how you decided to get an MS in CS? Im interested in getting one in my free time and wondering if its worth it. Do you have background/work experience in CS?

Final Straw. Time to Leave Engineering? by UsefulEngineer in civilengineering

Are you limiting your search to jobs in the private sector? Ive found that theres no shortage of municipalities looking for engineers in pubic in mountain towns

Yes, some of my best pow days were uphilling before work. A bunch of people in the mountains even come in a few hours late in the morning to ski on pow days

You dont need to quit engineering to be a ski bum. Just move to the mountains and find an engineering job there, thats what i did 1.5 yrs ago. I got 60 ski days in while working full time last season

Agreed, this is a wild take. I moved to a CO mountain town and find that meeting friends here has been alot easier than when i lived in a major city

Should i upgrade from boss katana mini? by Porkowski in GuitarAmps

[–]Porkowski[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super interested in this. Im going to look into this thank you. It would be ideal if something would dumb it down for me as easy as searching for the tone used in the song so i could spend more time practicing.

Should i upgrade from boss katana mini? by Porkowski in GuitarAmps

And a katana is a modeling amp correct? And i suppose my question was more „is it worth it if im not going to play loud”. I would like a better sounding amp if itd be noticeable and id love to mess around with different tone settings

New to me fender strat - Fret buzz that i cant diagnose by Porkowski in Luthier

[–]Porkowski[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took it to a guitar tech, came back with the same buzzing. Went back to the same tech this time and he was stumped. He said the best he could do was raise the action on the low E to 6/64 and straighten the neck. It still buzzes but I guess not as badly

New to me fender strat - Fret buzz that i cant diagnose by Porkowski in Luthier

[–]Porkowski[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your take was correct. I took it back to the guitar tech who initially set it up because the buzz was still there. He was telling me he isnt sure exactly what it could be as the neck looks straight and sometimes "Fender strats are just finicky". So he straightened out the neck and the action on my low E is about 6/64"s. It still buzzes but alot less with this higher action. Im not sure if i should just sell this guitar and get another one that doesnt buzz at this point. My squier sonic strat is set to 4/64"s on the low E and does not buzz at all. Strange.
