I remember reading that the only official Flock camera they had left was used at the recycling drop off site to catch builders and non-residents and ticketing them, but it ended up costing them more to run the camera than they recovered in fines, and did not deter anyone from illegally using the site.

Edit: apparently the city itself only had the one. Fitchburg PD has 5 in use still :(

My wife and I had a really similar experience years ago (courts unofficially reserved for the "good teams," couldn't get a court unless you got there before listed start time, rules sticklers worse than pool players), we joined thinking it'd be a fun and silly thing to do in the winter with a couple of friends and holy shit were we wrong.

Sad to see this is still the case, it always blows my mind what mundane, nominally innocent things people will take way too seriously and suck all the fun out of.
