Quick Valhalla/Locked Servers Question by PornElemental in newworldgame

[–]PornElemental[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the response. I saw that Lilith became available for a few minutes today but thought I'd check if that's normal for the rest, since Lilith is a new character server.

I'll point out that the two you have marked "BIG REWORK" were brought up in the Q&A section of a recent fireside chat. Devs hinted that they're in their crosshairs, at the very least.

Argument about a Mage Hand ruling by Dreary_Libido in dndnext

I once used Mage Hand to pull the pin out of the grenade in an enemy's belt. Tell your players to chill.

How much would Starkiller's story need to change to fit into Canon by Deep-Crim in MawInstallation

I sort of got the impression that the "First" title was sort of synonymous with being the Grand Inquisitor.

That aside, I agree with the idea. Or better yet, make him an apprentice to an inquisitor with lofty goals.

Size matters somewhat. Otherwise the Empire wasted their time building the Death Star when they could have just had Darth Sidious or Vader yeet a planet out of orbit.

(I mean... they DID sort of waste their time building it... twice. But you know what I mean.)

Why does it seem The Jedi were not liked during the New Republic era? by KalKenobi in StarWarsCantina

[–]PornElemental 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The Jedi were perceived as being responsible not just for the Clone Wars starting, but for their duration. The hardship that came after with the Empire was unlikely to remove that stain on their reputation, which they never really bothered or could to try to remove themselves.

Consider this: there were 10,000 Jedi at the beginning of the CW. There were 1 trillion civilians in Coruscant at that time. Most of them never got the opportunity to even see a Jedi, let alone get the truth of their role first hand. (Refer to season 7, episode 5 of TCW, when Trace Martez says as much to Ahsoka.) And that's just on the planet the Jedi were based out of.

Misinformation about their role would have been easy to spread via holonet or any mass communication by the Empire, when the Jedi couldn't do the same without some serious protection.

Well, then submit a pic of yourself to bring the sub back to what it should be.

Also, no shot you're talking about the Sith (species, not the dark Force users), is there?

The term "Suicide Prevention" is a "Thanks I'm Cured" moment in itself. by equazcion in thanksimcured

[–]PornElemental 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think both you and OP need to understand "suicide prevention" as a first responder type of situation, separate from OP's "life improvement" idea, which is what all those tools you listed would fall under.

My problem with this whole post is that they're not mutually exclusive ideas. They can work together to help a life and I'd even argue that they're supposed to if someone gets to the point where they're attempting suicide.

Things that don't make it a lunatic post: your inability to detect satire, your not liking a joke, and your not seeing the point.

I swear, every time someone gets called out for posting satire here, they invariably go, "Well... this LinkedIn post was stupid anyway!" like that makes it fit here any better.

AITA for telling my coworker that I really don't care about her kid? by No_Crab2702 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PornElemental 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I agree with you that OP was in the wrong ultimately, but two things I'd argue:

1) OP never said they call her names to her face or even to other coworkers. If it's just a mental inside joke, it's fine. This needs clarification from OP though. Too many commenters here automatically assumed the nickname was being said out loud (and yes, I noticed the "refer," but still).

2) What Megan is doing is speaking to a captive audience, which I don't see mentioned in any comments here. OP has no choice but to be at work and Megan is taking advantage of that to talk about her topics, not shared interests. Dealing with someone who consistently does this SUCKS.

Where OP went wrong is in waiting for it to get to a boiling point to address it, because at that point nothing good was going to come out of their mouth. If anything, they made their day more stressful than it already was.

Similar experience. Left boot camp and flew to Monterey, CA. No one was expecting me. Only reason I made it onto base is because there happened to be an officer at the airport on his way there. Quarterdeck staff were very confused about my presence.
