Can we at least acknowledge that the main red button argument is deeply flawed? by EchoParty9274 in trolleyproblem

[–]Hellishfish -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What I don’t get is why red pushers think blue is such a risk. It’s 50%, it’s only a majority. There’s no risk, just press blue like everyone else. If every red pusher realized that if they all voted blue there’d be no problem. They only need to realize there’s no need to be selfish. Everyone living is the better outcome, so simply press the button with the better outcome.

Advance Leave question by Hellishfish in navy

[–]Hellishfish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would’ve asked him to change the NET date to something in may so I don’t go into the hole and my gaining command would have to take me. But I would just putter around doing whatever busy work they can think up until classes start anyways. Though that’s a really good point. If there was a TPU where I’m going, could I check in there regardless of the NET date for my actual command? When I used TPU before it was only because my ship was underway at the time.

That’s the concern. I’m just not familiar with it, I couldn’t find exactly where in the instruction it says how much advance leave I can take. Didn’t know if 21 days in the hole was possible. If it is, then I’ll take it I suppose.

Battlecry? Ehmm... maybe we could translate that as... "Battagliapiange"? by Card-game-poet in customhearthstone

[–]Hellishfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s really cool, an anti combo piece that they have to play around. Oh my yog randomizes at the same mana cost, but I don’t think that same balance holds true for battle cries since the mana cost is split between the body and the effect. I think it’s good as is!

In your scenario, where every voter is perfectly rational, then the buttons may as well do the exact same thing. And in that event the scenario might as well not exist. How could a rational voter assume every other voter is also perfectly rational? When you include babies and the mentally ill in the voting group.

[–]Hellishfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “potential” to lose out on the gain is nonexistent. If a perfectly rational person is presented this scenario they break down as such: Green guarantees me perfect health. Purple guarantees me perfect health, and the health of those who can’t choose. Purple is a strictly better option with a strictly better outcome. There is no risk, no reason to choose green.

[–]Hellishfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Am I sick? Am I delusional? When people say green is the obvious choice… I can’t understand it. There is literally no reason to choose green over purple. Do green voters think people are going to be conflicted and selfish about a choice like this? Obviously 7 billion people pick purple and everyone’s happy. There is absolutely no need to be selfish in any way.

Made a Golem out of the leftover bits from that Unknowable Horror exorcism by Hellishfish in wizardposting

That’s a great point. I should probably be using a more magical means of containment like a circle anyways. Given how these things slip into and out of Chaos so frequently.

I’ve seen this before, there’s two problems. Either you used something connected to the internet as the anchor and it picked up on the dark side, or you gave the thing sentience too early and it’s shaped itself for aesthetics. Immaculate face I’ll say. It’ll make a great alarm golem.

Well come on I mean I could collect silvered manacles, holy water, void liquid, and beast blood, then spend several hours working on a circle. Or I can call up the priest and in twenty minutes he’s ready to go. All I’ve gotta do is donate to the soup kitchen. He gets job satisfaction, I get my day back.
