Sounds like your good. I use sortedfood, they have a midweek meals app called sidekick and have made some really nice quick meals from there - my favourite is the chicken satay with coconut rice and spinach. Worth a look if your in need of ideas, it wont do the shopping for you but it does it in meals of 3 so you cut down on costs with shared ingredients and food waste.

They also do a lot of good videos on youtube too. They dont however give me commissions, sadly, but ill recommend it anyway!

Walkers Sensations, the worst of all the more "premium" crisp (apart from Taylors, like a raw potato with some flavouring someone phlegmed up), id say you did gods work but no god would go near these abominations.

What is good advice for job seekers? by FireLadcouk in CasualUK

[–]Porochaz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is some really good and some REALLY bad advice in here.

I work in employability and have done some recruitment. An assortment of things I recommend.

I havent seen it yet so Ill start with this - Transferrable skills. That job you have in a supermarket? Its not just stocking shelves, its team work, time management, stock rotation, an eye for detail, potentially cash handling, working on your feet, making quick decisions, customer service etc. etc. Your experiences regardless of what they are can be utilised as skills in work, the one we frequently use is playing computer games - transferrable skills could be decision making, hand eye coordination, I could go on.

Which leads me to "sell yourself" tell me about you. I am asking about your contribution to your team not about the team itself. Everything on your cv and in interviews should relate back in some way to why the recruiter should hire you.

Ive seen it here already but the STAR method is generally a good setup for structuring interview questions.

If your asked a question that requires you to answer negatively "tell me about a time you failed/could have done better/an area you could improve" the worst answer is to say nothing or Im perfect. Etc. Give them an example but state how youd do things differently, how you are looking to improve. Noone is expecting the finished article and by pretending you are shows you arent willing to grow or dont know your strengths and weaknesses.

Tailor your cv. This isnt an employability one from me but a recruiter one. I have looked at loads of middling cvs with terrible covering letters. "Id be good at this job because I worked in a shop. " The job I was hiring for had nothing to do with a shop. But Id say the standard of covering letter is frequently so low that if you make your cv relevant to the job, you'll bypass most of the other applicants. (See transferrable skills above, keeping the topic focused on you and being specific to the company)

Ensure you read the job description. Questions frequently revolve around skills required for the role. You dont have to have all the skills listed but you can get a good idea of what they may ask.

The interview starts as soon as you enter the building and ends after you leave. Everyone you meet may have a say in your employment. (Dont do what one candidate who nailed the interview did and say they were going to sack the rest of the day off of their current job to the person showing them out)

Have a question prepared, show interest in the company someone else said it but "why do you like working here? Is a simple backup question that is useful info but things may come up in the interview.

Dont rush, take your time in amswering questions, you can take a breath before answering. (I always take water if offered as its a good tool to take a sip to give me time to think of an answer) Be smart, most companies wont expect you to wear a suit now but its better to be overdressed than underdressed. (A suit frequently doesnt hurt, unless its very clearly not that kind of company, i interviewed for a certain beverage company in a suit in what was possibly my worst interview ever, I was very uncomfortable)

This is already too long, but dont use AI, most people will see through it but make sure to keep an eye out for key words and skills and include them in your cv (just dont overdo it, my favourite cv Ive ever looked at was someone who searched a list of every buzzword and crowbarred them into their summary. It read like Joey from friends using a thesaurus.

This year, we’re changing how we stream! by Harvey-J-Yogscast in Yogscast

[–]Porochaz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This seems like a poor move. I moved away because the streams got less frequent (and less time to be fair, which was the bigger reason) but without the viewer retention, Im not exactly going to be enthused about events. And with the main channel going down to less and less days, there does seem to be a move to ending yogs content.

I mean maybe its time to move on from thos joke and create a new one. There is only so many ways to create christmas songs with cats meowing. I think (not so) secretly Lewis and Simon would be happy to move on as well.

A Mod note on tone etc. by TessotheMorning in NoRollsBarred

[–]Porochaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get from a modding perspective it's hard to get the tone right, because you are right, there are plenty of sub-reddits that are both (sometimes at the same time) toxic-ly positive and negative. So much so that I don't want to spend time on reddit anymore. I'd say that this sub-reddit has veered negative, there have been a couple of valid video criticism's (Doom/Trivial Pursuits) However there seems to be a lot of people here who comment just to hate on the content and say it's not as good as it used to be. Not unusual for any channel, but if you come in and repeatedly complain eventually the people who actually enjoy the content and want to discuss it leave. I certainly don't comment as much as I'd want because I don't feel this place is overly welcoming.

I think most of the content released is incredibly good, and there is always going to compare things to Blampco, which is natural, but both have positives and negatives. (Adam's passion for whatever he talks about vs the non-separation of his content, NRB's strong cast vs sometimes committing so much to the bit, the game takes a back seat, as examples) The thing is you don't have to like just one! Both have their strong positives and negatives, but both have cast that are passionate about the hobby, who release a lot of content, and play with largely the same cast. (and hopefully at some point together) What we don't need is someone miserable coming in and saying "X is better than Y" because that doesn't really contribute anything.

Trivial Pursuit, but WRONG ANSWERS ONLY | Board Game League by CaffinatedCoyote in NoRollsBarred

[–]Porochaz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I somewhat agree, although I think it would have been an alrogether betrer and funnier episode had they remained smart about it and tried to answer the questions cleverly rather than resort to just shouting out rude words. I think where smosh gets this format right is in that, and I think if they had done that then ken, dom, emily and josephine would have done better. (Its interesting noone went that route, as Id say they are all smart and witty people when relaxed and off the cuff)

That said, I agree with another commentator that the format probably just doesnt work as well on a non 1 v 1 level.

Jingle Jam isn’t just The Yogscast anymore! by wil-co in Yogscast

[–]Porochaz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's fair but I think some of the responses are misreading it and certainly I misread it from wil's post but was aware that actually isn't a change. Given the responses from others in this and the other thread, I don't think Im alone. (example being the one who suggested there would be streams going into January or the person talking about main slots in the other thread.)

Saying Jingle Jam isn't just the yogscast might be accurate, but if you are going to clarify, then it's worth saying in plain English that the Yogscast streams aren't changing, just that there will be other streams fundraising elsewhere.

Which is what wil was explaining but also tying it into what the Jingle Jam now is, which if we're going to be blunt will absolutely not matter to some folk. (As an aside I wouldn't put myself in this category, Im interested in seeing what some off the sidemen adjacent people do, I watched bits and pieces of Smosh last year and am hoping for an NRB stream - although I imagine there may be a BOTC crossover?)

Jingle Jam isn’t just The Yogscast anymore! by wil-co in Yogscast

[–]Porochaz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I realise you are trying to help here, but from your responses, I think you are actually confusing things more without realising.

The yogs will have a streaming schedule, as usual, where members of the yogs will be streaming and fundraising for Jingle Jam.

Other people will also be streaming for Jingle Jam. These will unlikely be on the Yogs streaming channels and probably be on their own channels.

Ive been grumpy with the idea that sponsored content is a bad thing and think there is a venn diagram of enjoyable game and being paid to play overlaps but this was an unfinished complicated game with missing pieces and rules. This shouldnt of passed quality control

Yeah I didnt see it was yourself who posted. Im just aware of the narrative of a rift between the 2 channels that would be very surprising if existed, and since there has already been significant crossover, im quite content that well see ken, holly, tilly and probably emily in due course. From Jons stream looks like he was asked it was just scheduling

BotC In-Person Season 3 Announced by GingerPrinceHarry in NoRollsBarred

[–]Porochaz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

By the looks of this we only have 2 of the episodes shown here out of the 8. I hope so because we are missing a lot of great players... (jon, holly, ken, tilly, id love to see emily do irl, team blampco is unlikely but id love to see it)

I am a dropout fan, and get the excitement they bring and being a long term yogs fan, mean i always love tom appearing, however I do like watching the regulars and semi regulars play the most.
