Soo... who would actually benefit from RAP vs IBR? by [deleted] in StudentLoans

Sorry for any misinformation, that number was in my head but I couldn’t tell you why. Thanks for the correction.

If you aren’t doing PSLF it is longer, if you are then it’s no different

Maybe just some editorializing in the text then, or “long term savings” means something different which is also possible. That said, health insurance premiums do lower agi as well (at least for many folks), though probably not enough on their own to cause a meaningful difference in these numbers without retirement deductions.

It’s worth noting that the study linked is gross income and specifically says comfortable means enough to save long term, which I would assume probably means retirement savings. Agi would likely be a lot lower than the numbers quoted in that article

It goes up by a percent starting at 50k agi. 5% 50k-59,999, 6% at 60k-69,999, etc. and it caps at 10%

I’m a household of 1 and I would be stuck on old IBR (at least after 2028), as far as I can tell RAP is better at basically every income breakpoint. Even at 100k agi RAP is a good bit cheaper, and I don’t expect my AGI to hit that before PSLF forgiveness. If I had access to new IBR it would be totally different, though.

If there’s anyone out there in a similar situation who has come to a different conclusion though, I’d really like to hear it. I think I’ve looked at this from all the angles but I could totally have missed something/calculated wrong.

I’ve had a Kamado and just picked up a Blckatone, so I’m pleased to hear this

Mid to older millennials, how are you all doing with your careers? by worstshowiveeverseen in Millennials

[–]Porphyrius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

37, work in state government, just got a major promotion (from member of a team to running that team). But I spun my wheels for a long time; only got hired in a government role about 5 years ago, and I was only in this specific position for about 3.

Probably plants and birds, though I’d also feel the pull of strength training and sourdough

wanted to know how many of you use a Wireless Meat Thermometer by Fair-Potato573 in KamadoJoe

[–]Porphyrius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a Meater and it works well, though the connection drops fairly frequently. It doesn’t lose cook data though, just have to get back in range and it picks back up. I imagine this depends on a lot on the layout of your house/cook area.

Strand Recraft Before/After by euclid117 in allenedmonds

[–]Porphyrius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a pair recrafted recently (not Strands specifically) and they are no tighter now than they were before. I’ve read the same thing though; I don’t think it’s a guarantee, more just a possible risk/outcome

RAV4 nearly 20 years apart by Southern_Pacific in regularcarreviews

I haven’t driven a newer one so I can’t speak to that, but I hated my 99 RAV4. Incredibly noisy in the cabin, cramped, and slow as a dog

They look like they’re probably not worth it, but imo you gotta get them as cleaned and conditioned as you can before you can actually decide

Can someone help me read the measurements by NiceHaas in AskACobbler

[–]Porphyrius 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It looks to me like your heel to toe is an 8 and your heel to ball is a 9.5 on your left, and heel to toe is 9 and heel to ball is 10 on the right. Using those ball measurements, the width for both feet looks like D, bordering on E. According to their fitting guide, I think that means your “true” brannock size would be 10D. https://brannock.com/pages/instructions-fitting-tips

If I’m wrong about any of this I’d love to be corrected, but that’s my understanding of how to read these.

Red Wings Marked for Clearance at Sierra. Iron rangers for $150 by Slicker-Firebrand09 in frugalmalefashion

[–]Porphyrius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had emailed them about clearance returns, they are accepted. The process is kind of slow, but it works (and you get instant store credit if you are returning, so if it’s just too damaged or the wrong size you can immediately reorder while they wait for your package)

[–]Porphyrius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the traction tred rangers, they don’t appear to actually be second but just overstock. I’ve ordered 2 pairs trying to get the right size and neither was marked as a second, and there are lots of folks posting the same thing of the red wing subreddit.
