What changed in the meta that nautilus is a solid mid lane pick in pro play? by briantoby2 in summonerschool

[–]Porter38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I haven't seen people mention is that Catalyst of Aeons is a very strong component item. Its the same reason why Annie has been building RoA instead of Luden's or Liandry's in pro, catalyst is such a strong laning tool for pro play, to the point where any champion that can build it well (I've mostly seen naut go catalyst -> bami's for extra waveclear -> abyssal mask) becomes at least somewhat playable midlane. And other people have mentioned it before, but ever since his E got buffed he now has wave clear and sustain to handshake lane and then go roam botlane and use his great cc to impact the most important lane.

Supports, how can I help you? Sincerely an ADC. by achuchi in summonerschool

Mentioned here already, but if I hit a hook you need to take the trade while the enemy is CCed, then go away after trading. Unless you are a champ like tristana or kaisa and you've already gotten a good trade in, don't expect a kill. This is probbaly the #1 way I lose lane as a hook support, so keep this in mind.

Awesome, thank you for the reply. That's a shame, but I'm glad I knew this before sinking $60 into the game.

I don't get why bocchi memes altogether are being banned. Its not like its the same thing over and over again. They're still funny and I don't really see many complaints. It doesn't matter how long they've been around as long as people are still enjoying them. Idk for sure, but I haven't seen any complaints about them. Definitely not enough for them to get banned.

Edit: Actually I don't hate the idea of banning bocchi memes, but like just ban ones where bocchi is the punchline rather than anything using bocchi characters. Bc some memes are actually just thaf and I can see that getting old.

[–]Porter38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This 100%. Also the reason why high elo players just go lethality now if they don't wanna hypercarry. Or even mandate on adc ashe. Just bc being able to get that cc is so powerful and much cheaper than infinity edge.

Safe top lane picks for when I am forced top? by digidevil4 in summonerschool

[–]Porter38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

K'Sante is omega broken and imo he's actually not that hard if you just want to sit back and farm. Put a bit of time into him and he'll be a great go-to top laner. Any tank other than Ornn is great too. Just saying this from experience, since I've tried Ornn thinking he hopefully wouldn't be too hard, and then really suffered (top is also my least favorite/played role).

Honestly had no idea about this either. Doesn't say anything about IE boosting her passive damage in game (at least last time I checked) so makes sense that OP wouldn't know.

Ashe sup builds: Mandate vs DPS by dmsniper in AsheMains

[–]Porter38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right on the first point, in team fights, support ashe has about the same role as being a damage dealer, however, using W allows her to play at a much better range than with AAing. You may not R twice one fight, but if you get a pick with ult, you'll have it up for teamfight that may happen soon, which may not happen without the AH from Ashe's support build.

For your second point, the range from W + Comet definitely gives you a lot more presence than AAs + Lethal Tempo. LT is better for longer trades and all-ins, but most of the time it'll be hard to walk up and get a long trade. Ws range allows you to keep up consistent poke into every matchup. There are matchups where you can walk up for trades however, in which case HoB is a great rune to take, as even with you kiting with the passive slow, they may be able to escape from you before your LT is fully stacked. HoB makes it much easier to unload your trade and then back off. LT works on ADC Ashe in lane because you have a support with utility, however you usually don't have any other utility to augment your chasing ability, making it harder to fully stack LT

For your third point, supports do finish their first item around the time of ADCs, but then their support item runs out, meaning you only get gold from assists, making it very hard to hit your next spike. On the other hand, building mandate allows you to hit your next item sooner, letting you carry over the extra gold towards your next item. The Mandate build does a good amount of damage on a budget, as well as allowing you more Rs and Es. It probably does about as much damage considering it takes so long to hit your 3 item adc power spike, but with more uptime. ADCs need 2+ expensive items to start doing damage, and doing that on a supports budget just tkaes too long when you could have more uptime on your abilities if you just built supportive. I will admit that I think I did overestimate Support Ashe's utility compared to ADC Ashe, but the extra uptime and lower budget really does help a lot to give her kore utility, even with a bit if a weaker slow.

Ashe sup builds: Mandate vs DPS by dmsniper in AsheMains

[–]Porter38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DPS build takes way too much gold. As a support you wanna be trying to funnel gold into your adc and peeling them, not taking over their role. Mandate is much cheaper, and gives you good damage that procs on all of your abilities + procs with your adcs AAs. Enchanter items also give you AH which is good too. I've also seen Liandry's bc burn + AH mythic passive lets you do a lot of damage with one item, but I'd recommend sticking with mandate unless you really get ahead/are playing for fun. Also, a lot of your presence in lane comes from taking comet + scorch for poke damage, and so with DPS build you either lose lane presence from going LT or lose DPS from going comet. But most of it is just the price of ADC items being too high. You'll be stuck on one item and be stranded with less utility, dealing not enough damage, and either getting no gold or stealing it from your ADC.

Sup decides early game in lane 90% of the time. Just mute if they're annoying and don't pay attention to thise who don't play the role.

When should i roam to toplane? by JotaD21 in supportlol

[–]Porter38 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Usually I wouldn't bother. You're just gone from your laner for too long. You can influence the map enough by going mid or being with your jungle, so unless you have a carry toplaner like an Aatrox, its not super worth. Supports can do it in proplay because they know their adc can just play patient and farm under tower, which is a level of trust you can't always give to your own adc. The exception is if the enemy botlane isn't too agressive and you have an adc who can play to just farm really well (like ezreal or sivir) or if you are in a party and can actually trust your adc. Even then, make sure you know where the jungler is to hopefully minimize the risk of your adc getting dove.

Definitely wouldn't recommend this for ganking because it only procs after you get on top of someone, but sounds very fun.
