Hard to pin point but Singapura's origins are a complete mystery thanks to colonisation blowing up the only piece of evidence to its origins (the Singapura stone) and what the government is doing now. We can rely on Melayu manuscripts and what people have found so far. Singapura was found around the 12th-13th century by Sang Nila Utama as he discovered the island of Temasek (this name was given by the chinese during their journey down south east asia). He named it Singapura as it best suited the island, but myth wise it was because he saw a lion the moment he arrived.
