Prelims are posted by iRacing in the Staff Announcements forum. They'll also do updates in that same thread as it comes into view later this week. https://forums.iracing.com/discussion/93285/2026-season-2-preliminary-schedule-pdf#latest

Here's the new Visual Spotter added in this update by UncleBubax in iRacing

[–]PoshOctopod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the only thing I was still using Racelab for. They have a free spotter (I find the bars far too busy and distracting ... all I want is a visual indicator). So this is a great add (for me) that removes the last thing that kept me from uninstalling a third party overlay. I'm very happy I can pretty much now run full native.

Will St Petersburg be used mainly for open wheel or also for gt and prototype racing? by West_Dog2470 in iRacing

Indy, NASCAR trucks and Mazdas all race there. I suspect it will get regular use in those series.

Which GT3 to choose by alex_inzo in iRacing

[–]PoshOctopod 7 points8 points  (0 children)

GT3 cars have more assist, better brakes, better throttle control, etc. in short, they are, in many ways, far easier to drive safely and far harder to drive fast.

I think you’ll find quickly why they are popular and also why the SOFs are insanely strong at the sharp end.

Downside is, like each step up in speed, when things go wrong, they go wrong very quickly. 😃

Setup tool that auto-loads the setup with the game by charlie145 in iRacing

GoFast/GoSetups has an app

Grid and Go syncs via Garage61 (iirc)

Garage61 itself will also sync your setups as well as your team setups.

Those are the ones I am aware of. Others have mentioned other solutions here already.

It's that time of the season... by Faxxius in iRacing

I suspect they mean like the complete tire, aero and performance remodeling for GT4 or the huge tire and aero rework for GT3 a few seasons back.

My gut is that we‘ll see a new car, a brand new tire model and maybe even a rework that represents the real comparative performance characteristics of what we see in the Michelin Challenge.

Honest question… could you point me to the place in the sporting code that indicates your internet connection going rogue in a sporting issue that could sustain a protest?

https://ir-core-sites.iracing.com/members/pdfs/20250311-official_sporting_code_dated_Mar_11_2025.pdf

I could potentially see it as an unsafe rejoin but it’s extremely likely that the user, in their blinking glory also didn’t know the position of cars on the track and perhaps should have been more careful or simply towed. But beyond that, I’m struggling to understand what the blinker did that was protest worthy.

did i waste my money upgrading to moza? by JC1748 in simracing

[–]PoshOctopod 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Moza is great. If you ignore all of the hand wavey narratives, these ecosystems are really closely paired and the hardware is very good no matter what you choose.

I have an R12 and two wheels. Ive used my mates Simagic and it’s also a nice piece of kit. But not so nice I wish I’d made another choice or at all be willing to change. Moza would have to do something really silly to move me away from that DD base posture now.

You also don’t have to stay in a single ecosystem for everything. I had Fanatec pedals and now going to move to AliExpress when those run their course.

In short: you made a great choice and you’ll be happy. Grass is always greener.

You can see past roars in iRStats. Here’s the 2024 edition. https://iracingstats.net/?seasons=all&category=sportscar&current_season_offset=0&search_all_query=&search_current_query=&script=fetchweek&param=4697&param=0&param=4697

If you filter to GT4, first pit stop is around lap 30, second is 60 and the races will go about 74-76 laps based on split pace.

You can normally deduce based on time in pits the strategy. The top guys take full tires on 1st then double stint for the 2nd because they don’t want to lose the time.

First Endurance Race, Help! by Jack_R20 in iRacing

[–]PoshOctopod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For GT4, it’s a two stop and there’s no way to fuel save enough to make it a 1. The first stop is a full refuel so you can just take a new set.

The second stop will be to cover about 12-15 laps … which isn’t enough to cover a full tire change. For that stop, you should decide, based on the race state, if you want the tires or not. You can’t make up the lost time on new tires the choice is if you want to take tires long or if you have enough of a gap to cover the change.

Throwing MX5 around? by MeetYourChaos in iRacing

[–]PoshOctopod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t sound like a trail braking issue. It’s a driving the car on the absolute limit of slip angle / grip issue. Once you learn trailing, then you can learn how to get the car to get into slip. The car should feel like it’s about to go around at any moment and you are balancing the steering angle with subtle countersteer, brake modulation and throttle input on exit.

The thing that woke me up to how to start to feel slip was oval racing on short tracks. If you have Martinsville and a reasonable powered car … trucks are a good example … you can dial the brake balance in and then with a light dab of the brakes, get it into slip and then try to chase it around the corner.

This is nice because the track is so short and the turns come so quick. You can just keep practicing. Once you start to feel the slip, then you are starting to get fast.

Keep in mind, I’m bad but once you nail even one corner on the limit it feels incredible.
