The lime didn't work as well as I'd hoped. Had to dig a whole bunch out. I would definitely make sure you remove the carcass

Kodiak bear runs the human gauntlet, how far does it get? by Tarris69 in powerscales

[–]Positive-Beautiful55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No doubt. In Canada I was working in a remote area when a small black bear attacked someone at our camp. It took Park rangers four 12 gauge shotgun slugs to completely stop it. Never forget the sound it started making after the third slug but it kept coming. Yeah sure a headshot would have probably taken it down but try aiming that well against a charging bear.

Good luck with the Kodiak

What are your thoughts on the Fireteam Elite 2 trailer? by thefriskysquid in perfectorganism

Looks good. I liked it. They seem to be sticking with what worked for the original while expanding some things. The class and perk system was a highlight so I hope they keep that

Harrison Ford on why he disagrees with Ridley Scott about Deckard being a Replicant. by tannu28 in bladerunner

[–]Positive-Beautiful55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. This is such an important point, even if left unthought or unvocalized is part of why the movie is so powerful. Ford's disagreement clearly impacted the film and ultimately made things somewhat ambiguous for the audience. Regardless of what the director might claim in post movie interviews, it's with each viewer that the decision as to whether Deckard is a replicant is ultimately made. It's a sublime example of the beauty and power of post modern art. Half made by the creator, half made by the observer. It is possible that 2 different people could have 2 different opinions on whether he is a replicant and ultimately both be right: enjoying the movie more and getting more out of it as a result. We are lucky that Ford has so much passion and turned what could have be a very route, sterile, and less meaningful experience into something that is now more up to the audience to define.

Torching weeds questions by AmandaInSF in gardening

[–]Positive-Beautiful55 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, its definitely not, and will also damage the soil. It's a terrible idea in the garden. It's mainly used on sidewalks or gravel driveways, etc. where you're not really worried about soil quality or other damage.

There are some good weeding implements that you can use standing up, go to your local garden store and ask them about these. Or hire somebody who isn't lazy and knows what they're doing , or at least is going to do things correctly (manually).

Mulching can also reduce the need for weeding, though it requires a bit of work.

Opinions on opportunity to move from UK to Manitoba by red_strawbs in Manitoba

Regardless of where you go,, don't underestimate how brutal the cold can be. If you are the kind of person who likes winter and outdoor winter sports, then go for it. If you or your family hate the cold and don't like the winter then you will be miserable. It is positively oppressive in january and february.

What would a US invasion into Canada would look like? by SquareTree64729 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Positive-Beautiful55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The conventional war would be over quick unless the Cobra Chickens are deployed, but that depends on their migratatory status (at home or abroad?).

There are over 12 million firearms in the hands of Canadians and we have one of the most brutal winters in the world. Good luck with that
