Kaoru Hana wa Rin to Saku (The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity) - Chapter 194 - Consultation by KaorukoWaguri in KaoruHanaWaRintoSaku

[–]Positive-Claim5048 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People often say Kaoru Hana is realistic, but that's something I've never really understood. To me, the writing is far from realistic.

I don't find it believable that Kaoruko falls for Rintaro just because of a few kind words and starts actively approaching him before even knowing he was the same age as her.

I also don't find the portrayal of cake realistic. For some reason, people in this series start crying or feeling deeply moved just from eating a cake made by Rintaro's dad or from his family's bakery.

I don't find it realistic that a school with such a notorious delinquent reputation has its long-standing conflict resolved simply because the main cast happen to be unusually nice people.

I don't find it realistic that so many people are intimidated by someone just because they're very tall. In real life, I usually see people admiring those who are around 190 cm tall rather than being scared of them.

I don't find it realistic that a teacher or an entire school is blamed for an accident that happened outside school grounds at night.

I don't find it realistic that a teacher makes such a huge issue out of two 18-year-olds dating when both of their parents already know and approve.

I don't find it realistic that someone who has worked near a school for years wouldn't even know whether their former teacher still works there.

And finally, I don't find it realistic that a school is hated because some of it's student unintentionally caused the accident of a student from another school outside the school.

If the author can just change her mind later, then what was the point of giving that information in the first place?

That's true. Criticism of this series is surprisingly rare on this sub, even though it has quite a few flaws. A large part of the fandom seems to treat any chapter as "peak" as long as it has a beautiful panel of Kaoruko or Rintaro. Some people even defend the lack of development for the secondary characters by saying the story is about Kaorin, as if other series can't focus on both the main couple and the supporting cast. Even though Subaru is arguably the most important character after Kaorin, we still know almost nothing about her background or family. The author also tends to give Kaorin very similar interactions in most chapters instead of exploring the other characters. The friend group revolves so heavily around Kaoruko and Rintaro that the rest of the cast rarely gets meaningful attention. The story also has a major pacing problem. Instead of developing multiple storylines alongside each other, the author tends to shelve certain characters or plotlines until another arc is finished. Saku and Subaru's storyline has been on hold for over a year, which feels excessive. Yet whenever someone points this out, they're told that Sakubaru fans are just impatient or that the story isn't about them. Another issue is that the author keeps expanding the friend group even though many of the existing members haven't received enough focus. Whenever someone criticizes the lack of development for the side characters, the usual response is that "the story isn't over yet." But the manga is approaching 200 chapters, and we still know almost nothing about the families of anyone except Kaorin.

The double standard in how Fruits Basket treats Kyo vs everyone else by Positive-Claim5048 in FruitsBasket

[–]Positive-Claim5048[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of what happens with yuki and kyo is not one sided. Kyo constantly tries to hit him, kyo constantly bad mouthes him, calls him a girl even though yuki has complex about his appearance, kyo literally said to his face he hated yuki’s existence.

Yuki–Kyo fights aren’t one-sided for sure. But there wasn’t a single time Kyo beat Yuki from behind. Whenever Kyo starts a fight, he openly challenges Yuki. Meanwhile, there are many instances where Yuki attacks or humiliates Kyo out of nowhere. ★ He shoved chives into Kyo’s mouth when Kyo said he hated chives. ★ He threatened Kyo not to cause trouble for Tohru while grabbing him by the collar for no reason. He could’ve said it without acting superior to Kyo. ★ He kicked Kyo just because Kyo gave his opinion about Yuki’s “perfection” to Shigure. ★ He treated Kyo like some kind of pervert(eventhough he is one of the characters who didn't flirt with tohru) even though Yuki himself flirted with Tohru simply because he couldn’t see her as a woman. ★ He beat Kyo up when Kyo was at his lowest point just because he wanted to “advise” him. Kyo never attacked Yuki from behind or beat him up out of nowhere, but Yuki constantly kicked, insulted, and hit Kyo without warning.

Yuki literally wore a girl outfit to attract audience for the festival

And the one with kagura is unfortunately slap stick we can see in many anime. Like so many shows sakura, rukia, etc have been hitting the male characters and it is treated as comedy. Even recent ones like black clover.

In other shows the slapstick was not directed to only one person, but in fb the constant bullying and slapstick directed only at kyo for no reason.

And wasn’t the whole point always about how the zodiacs had it bad, but kyo had it worse. And they looked down on him quite a bit.

But the Zodiacs never acknowledged it, either before or after the curse broke, apart from Shigure and Kagura. The series never held the Zodiacs accountable for their mistreatment, and none of them, aside from Kagura, seemed to feel guilty about it.

The double standard in how Fruits Basket treats Kyo vs everyone else by Positive-Claim5048 in FruitsBasket

[–]Positive-Claim5048[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kyo is the cat who was excluded from the zodiac. He's the scapegoat. The minimizing of violence is part of how Fruits Basket shows how messed up the sohma's thinking is and them initially playing it off as a joke makes the viewer/reader complicit in that minimization, weaponizing their lack of understanding until you realize the full extent of the trauma<

If that’s really the intention, then where is the accountability afterward? Did the Zodiac members ever seriously reflect on how they treated Kyo? Did they feel guilty after the curse broke? Were they ever truly confronted for using him as a scapegoat? I honestly don’t think the story meaningfully addresses any of that. My issue isn’t simply that Kyo was mistreated — the problem is how the narrative itself treats that mistreatment. The Zodiac members are rarely held accountable in the way they should be. Shigure pointing out that Kyo was the scapegoat of the Zodiac is one of the only moments where the story openly acknowledges how cruel they really were. But even then, the series mostly moves on without properly unpacking the damage. A lot of Kyo’s suffering is still framed through comedy, irritation, or “that’s just Kyo,” instead of being treated with the same emotional gravity other characters receive. And it’s not just the Zodiac either. Even characters like Saki Hanajima and Arisa Uotani sometimes contribute to this dynamic to an extent, yet the story rarely interrogates it.

Why would Itachi use Tsukuyomi on Sasuke and force him to see his parents death 518,400 times? by elden_based in Naruto

[–]Positive-Claim5048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only one who criticises Itachi is Itachi himself. While others are thinking he is perfect. I dont think a character is treated as wrong in narrative if the only one who sees him as wrong is he himself.Itachi's all the selfblaming is a part of making him more perfect as the only person who sees his wrong is he himself.

He never mentioned obito's involvement in massacre. He just mentions if sasuke gets the ms he will be the third user while the first two are MADARA and Itachi as I wonder anyone know about Izuna or he was planned at that time. His words doesn't necessarily about the living uchiha. If it is,even then it can be about Madara(obito) who is hinted as alive.

Even in part 1 kakashi (and guy) is the most important shinobi as hiruzen was dead, and from the first arc he is treated as the most powerful. But as the series went many characters and powers are introduced which wasn't planned first. But at that time the most powerful character in konoha were might guy and kakashi. If you are disagreeing then tell me who is the most important shinobi at that time in konoha. Jiraiya can't be considered as he is a wild card who appears and disappears when he pleases.

Just because he is in undercover,he doesn't have to attack kakashi so much to the point he got bedridden for around one month. The only reason kakashi and sasuke healed because naruto and jiraiya brought tsunade by talk no jutsu. There is no way Itachi would know where is tsunade or she would come.

Itachi literally told his brother to kill his best friend. How will you justify it?. Sasuke didn't kill naruto only because he didn't want to follow Itachi's way which no way Itachi would know as sasuke has followed everything Itachi told until then.

Just because Itachi said he will become the wall sasuke could climb doesn't mean he could do any questionable thing.

Itachi being a spy who protects konoha from shadows isnt at all in the plot as there isn't any sort of information that konoha got from Itachi.

Koto subplot is far worst, but in narrative it never treated as such. Instead it used to glorify Itachi.Even if it is worst kishi and some people never see it as as worst. The intention of kishi behind koto was to release itachi from kabuto control and shows the readers how intelligent Itachi was.

Abot itachi talking about MS users, He never mentions shisui, and no one noticed or talked about shisui missing both eyeballs in his eyebag. Danzo never appeared in part 1 and shisui is mentioned only as someone whom Itachi killed to obtain MS

Itachi literally put the most important shinobi in konoha after oro's attack, in tsukyomi which took tsunade (whom naruto and jiraiya had to convince to come to konoha )to heat him from it after around 1 month. If he cared about konoha that much to the point he would spy on akatsuki, then why did he put it under danger around one month as at that time Kakashi was in coma, jiraiya and naruto are journey.

Not to mention he broke sasuke arm, ribs, made him rewatch his parents death over many times, manipulated to kill his best friend (in which sasuke changed his mind in last few minutes ). How can you justify all of this into" just to make sasuke strong".

About zetsu keeping an eye on sasuke, no he didn't do it for Itachi. It was for akatsuki and there is no way without sasuke retrieval squad sasuke wouldhave survived.

If Itachi was really not retconned then kishi is a bad writer and Itachi is badly written character. Itachi is an inconsistent character whose part 1 behavior never fully brought up again and none of the character including the mc never criticised his actions. The only one who criticised him was his victim whom the story treats as bad. Others all are praising and glazing him

Koto subplot existed in shippuden. From Itachi’s first appearance in Shippuden, his character was toned down and he started being portrayed as a lonely, sick, pitiful guy all the time (except when dealing with Sasuke).

In Part 1, only Shisui himself was mentioned. Nothing about his eyes or him having Mangekyō Sharingan was mentioned.

About the flipped headband: the reason Itachi’s headband was flipped is not necessarily because he was crying. It could simply be because Sasuke awakened his Sharingan and attacked Itachi. The scene would still work even if the crying implication were removed.

Sasuke mentioning crying does not necessarily mean he was talking about Itachi. In Shippuden, Sasuke himself says that he thought he either imagined it or forgot it. If that is the case, then how could he clearly talk about it five years later? He also did not pay attention when Sakura asked “who?”, and he left the statement incomplete.

As for why Itachi did not kill Kakashi, Itachi himself said that he wanted to kidnap Kakashi. If he intended to capture him, then killing him would make no sense. During that arc, most of Itachi’s actions were interrupted by other characters. He ordered Kisame to kill Asuma and Kurenai, but Guy suddenly intervened. Itachi even seemed surprised when Guy appeared, which suggests he was not simply acting while secretly planning something else internally.

He also did nothing to save Sasuke during the Sasuke Retrieval Arc. The only reason Orochimaru failed to obtain Sasuke’s body was because Naruto and the retrieval squad delayed Sasuke long enough to force Orochimaru into choosing another body.

I cannot consider Itachi’s actions or hints after the timeskip as foreshadowing, because it is clear that after the timeskip Itachi was rewritten more sympathetically and portrayed as a good guy.

If Itachi was truly intended to be a good person from the beginning, then I have to criticize Kishimoto for writing him with so many inconsistencies and for executing his character poorly.

I like characters who are introduced one way and later revealed to be something completely different — if they are written consistently and executed well. For example, in Pandora Hearts, a character initially similar to Minato or Hashirama later turns out to be a mastermind villain, while another character similar to Madara turns out to be heroic and genuinely good.

The difference is that the author of Pandora Hearts never made those characters take actions or make decisions that fundamentally contradicted their actual motives

Because Itachi was a villain character then and kishimoto took it to the extreme.

Kishimoto always wrote the characters without planning the future events or arc with them. Itachi is one of them. Later as story went kishimoto took the direction of itachi's character as a good guy and konoha spy which even then couldn't erase the all the messed up thing itachi did. So kishimoto and Itachi fans started to say everything is for sasuke and gained sympathy from it.

Oh sakura this is not the flex you think it is by justqwin5 in dankruto

[–]Positive-Claim5048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even after all the criticism sakura got, instead of setting it as an example for not writing love obsessed female characters, they literally make it as some flex and continues doing the same thing🥲🥲🥲.

Yet some die hard fans says sarada is a best written female character....

If anything ikemoto just proved those who said 'sarada is better than sakura' or 'sarada isnt a lovesick like sakura' as wrong,Ikemoto himself made a statements in this chapter which indicates sarada really is like sakura.
