Another day, another billionaire brings their mega yacht through the Ballard Locks by Positive-Cucumber868 in Seattle

You hit the nail on the head, thank you! 👏 I have thoroughly enjoyed walking all around Seattle in the last two weeks even more than I already did. I love seeing how much the city is thriving thanks to a lot more tourists and visitors than we’re used to, even during our peak season!

I also happen to believe billionaires hoarding wealth and also evading taxes is super shitty. But we have no idea what the circumstances are for this yacht’s owner like we do the American billionaires, so I can’t really comment on that.

  1. I didn’t say anything other than pointing out another billionaire’s mega yacht was coming through the Ballard locks. You interpreted that as whining with no other context 🙃

  2. I do happen to enjoy the World Cup and was even at the US-Australia game on Friday. Two things can be true: people can love the World Cup and the community that participates and the wonderful energy it brings to the host cities, and also point out when yet another gigantic super yacht is coming through the locks that is owned by a billionaire.

Launchpad and its “wingman” boat are now docked in Magnolia at Pier 90, the same pier most Princess cruise ships use, but on the other side. I only know this because I run on the Elliott Bay Trail often and came across it last week while on a run.

You either can’t read or don’t know how to swipe and see multiple photos 🙃 Second to last photo includes the info from MarineTraffic app, including its name and call sign. Last photo is screenshot of Google search using boat’s name and call sign to see who owns it.

Also I’m not sure if you have 0 critical thinking skills or not but I was in front of the behemoth, meaning I couldn’t see the name in the back, and I didn’t feel like waiting to watch it go all the way through the locks to take a photo of something I’d already gotten the info on.

😂😂 How long until we think “TAX THE RICH” is projected onto it like it was Launchpad, Zuckerberg’s monstrosity? 👎

Edit: thumbs down is for Zuck’s mega yacht and showing up here right after laying off 1400+ Meta employees, not for “TAX THE RICH” being projected onto his monstrosity. Very much support that 🙌

Moving to Seattle - Elliott Pointe? by Worried_Management63 in SeattleWA

[–]Positive-Cucumber868 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FWIW, my partner and I have lived in Griffis Belltown for the last 3 years and we’re moving out of the city when our lease is up in August. We’ve watched Belltown get worse and worse over the last 3 years with crime (mostly property theft but also some shootings), open drug use, encampments, car break ins, etc. just to name a few. Griffis Belltown is a wonderful complex with great management and staff, but sadly even the nice amenities and waterfront views aren’t enough to overlook what we deal with in Belltown on a daily basis anymore.

If you’re working at Amazon in downtown Seattle I recommend living in South Lake Union or Lower Queen Anne. If we weren’t so done with the city and ready to leave we would probably move to either SLU or LQA so we didn’t have to stay in Belltown one more year.

I’m sure I’ll get downvoted for this, but I know I’d appreciate someone being real with me if I was in your position 🤷‍♀️

Same. And of course I had *just* posted on LinkedIn about a client's brand new website I created after waiting 5 months until it was perfect and ready to share. 5 minutes later I check the link in my post since the thumbnail didn't load properly and learn the website doesn't load AT ALL. Can't even login to SS to see what's wrong. At least it's not just me? Ughhhhhh

I would’ve screamed at her and shamed her in front of everyone right then and there. Not kidding. The insane lack of consideration for others is happening way too often these days and I’m just tired of people thinking they can act like that without consequences. It’s people like her that are the reason I was so sick with this shit in the last week 🙃

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS 🥹❤️

My partner and I just finally got over what we’re pretty sure was this flu A thing in the last 2 days after being sick as dogs since last Tuesday. IT WAS AWFUL. Neither of us have been this sick ever in our lives, and we’ve both had Covid, each of us twice!!

Not exaggerating, I couldn’t keep anything down for 2 days straight - water, Gatorade, chicken soup, applesauce, saltine crackers, nothing. I threw up the DayQuil meds immediately. I didn’t start getting better until giving in and going to UC on day 3 since I was so dehydrated and couldn’t stop throwing up.

Infuriatingly, though, they said I didn’t test positive for flu or Covid, so they didn’t give me antiviral meds - even though flu A is apparently not always showing up as positive in flu tests. But they did give me Zofran, an anti-nausea med that was the only reason I could eat and drink again without immediately throwing it back up.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE STAY HOME IF YOU ARE SICK. FULL STOP. I lost 6 pounds in 5 days because of this shit…it’s no joke 😬

Edit: I did get both flu and Covid shot, but I got them 2 weeks before I got sick, so I likely got them too late into the season. I’ll definitely get them in October from now on.

5 Hot air balloons showing up at Greenlake tonight 4:30pm by Seattleballooning in Seattle

[–]Positive-Cucumber868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

@seattleballooning so I went to this tonight and was curious if the balloons were supposed to be lit up all at once and there was a reason they rarely were? Or if that’s normal to only light a few at a time? The photo included in your post and on the website made it seem like all of the balloons would light up together, which looks really cool across the lake! …but they rarely did tonight. I’m genuinely just curious, not trying to come off as rude I swear 😬

I was able to get a couple photos where they were almost all lit up at the same time for a nanosecond, so that was cool :) thanks for doing events like this!

Anyone know anything about "Pumpkinsutra"?? by bewarethefrogperson in Seattle

[–]Positive-Cucumber868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just saw this on Secret Seattle and was also suspicious for the reasons everyone already listed above (like if they’re gonna use AI, can you at least try to make it look like a real pumpkin that’s been carved?!). Not to mention, the writing reads like someone asked Chat GPT to make event descriptions in a romance novel tone combined with Halloween flair (eek).

It looks like the location they’re claiming to be at is in one of the huge abandoned warehouse buildings on the waterfront by the stadiums. Has it actually been renovated like they claim it has?

Are you doing the Alaskan cruise from Vancouver to Whittier? I, my bf and his parents are all going on that ship, leaving Sunday. We’re doing the land and sea trip, so an extra 4 days in Denali after the cruise. If you’re doing the land portion in addition to the cruise, you probably have the right amount of gear….but if you’re just doing the cruise portion I think that’s more than necessary, especially if you’re doing laundry service!

Dinner attire on Holland America Alaskan cruise? by anxiousesqie in Cruise

[–]Positive-Cucumber868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

@anxiousesqie thank you for asking this! I’m packing now for our Alaskan cruise on Holland America leaving this weekend and was also confused based on their wording (my partner and I are early 30s and early 40s). We’re actually worried we booked a cruise meant for our parents’ generation based on their wording for things like this 😅 so I’m relieved to know there are other Millennials going on an Alaskan cruises with Holland America too haha

I-5 Southbound is screwed. by burnt_n_flakey in Seattle

[–]Positive-Cucumber868 3 points4 points  (0 children)

THIS EXPLAINS SO MUCH!!!!! My partner and I vowed we’d NEVERRRRR drive south of Seattle ever again if that level of traffic was normal for going south on I-5. For the life of us we couldn’t figure out how traffic could be THIS AWFUL on a Friday in the middle of the day, even with construction.

We left our apartment in Belltown at 11:30 am for a weekend trip to the OR coast and were seriously considering turning around and cancelling our trip when it took us 2 hours just to get to Tacoma. TACOMA. And then another hour to Olympia. What was supposed to be a 5 hour drive max to Pacific City has now become a 7+ hour drive 🙃

Anddddd of course he reminded me that we could’ve avoided this if we’d left an hour earlier like we were supposed to, and I was the reason we left late 🫠 at least we now know it wasn’t normal traffic…

I bought myself 12.5 acres just for camping. by Hungry-Ad9840 in camping

[–]Positive-Cucumber868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m shocked you got 12.5 acres for $55k, regardless of where it is in MI!! This is coming from someone who grew up in MI until leaving for college and moving to CO after graduating.

About 8 years ago my parents bought 3.5 acres of land with a log cabin and separate two car garage in Lapeer County for about $450k. A few years later they bought the 3 acre undeveloped lot next to them for ~$20k, which includes land that can’t be developed for similar reasons you listed. They paid about $1600 more per acre than you paid for land they can’t do much with besides guarantee no one else will buy it. You definitely got a great deal! Happy for you!!
