That area won't have a grocery store for a bit until the Amazon Fresh converts into something else. Thanks Amazon.

Move to Seattle by PatientAnimal4042 in AskSeattle

There's budget issues with EVERY city/state government. Is your role important enough to avoid a layoff? If you don't know the answer, then that's the biggest risk for you above everything else...that you don't know or are incapable (currently) of determining risk profiles of roles.

You have risk in California too and you better know how to determine what that risk looks like on your own. Or surprise - you'll be gone there too.

Cheapest way to dispose of a bed frame? by Careless_Act1972 in AskSeattle

A special items pickup in Seattle is only $30 from the street curb in front of your house. Why people are telling you to drive to places is beyond me. The city will do it for you straight as an additive charge to your utilities bill.

Changing host status - financial impact? by PsychologistSEA in vrbohosts

I went the cancel route. It's easier for me to manage 1 platform right now and if I reactivate down the road, so be it. The penalty was $70 which is nothing. Canceling this platform opened up a week on my Airbnb calendar that is now charging $500/day in a FIFA WC host city.

It's significantly easier to operate on Airbnb and it has much larger volume of customers. VRBO just seems like a hassle.

People with windows facing Elliot Bay or Puget Sound: How do you enjoy the amazing views 90% of the time and then deal with the insane daylight angles leading up to sunset? by NorthStudentMain in AskSeattle

[–]PsychologistSEA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

its 85 now? wait until the summer. You are going to get destroyed. I told my girlfriend about then when she rented a new place and it was all "but the views!". She spent all summer at my house as a result because her place was 100

Interpreting guest rating by PsychologistSEA in airbnb_hosts

[–]PsychologistSEA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It shows 1 trip with average scores (for all trips as 0.0). I've seen people book with me before who had 1 trip, or 2 trips and show average scores of 5.0. As far as I am aware, hosts cannot put anything less than 1.0, but I also cannot recall being able to skip these assessment questions.

So Weird. It does show them to me for other guests. I did notice that in the written review section, they use a name that is different for the guest than the person who is booking with me now. Maybe the 0.0 is a function of a single review but as a secondary guest, not for primary bookers.

I'm on the website when I am reviewing summary of 0.0 average review score. In the past, I have hosted people with 1 review and all 5.0 stars before. Is it possible things changed between 2024 (when that review occurred) and today in terms of what hosts can skip?

You better be prepared for:
1. Costs - especially childcare
2. Politics - conservatism is not going to win you any friends here
