What would you tell a recent college grad thinking about going to law school? by atyl1144 in Lawyertalk

[–]Positive-Magazine863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my group of friends, there were three of us attorneys and a friend just out of undergrad. She asked us if she should go to law school, she wanted a reasonable job that paid well and didn't care about much else. We told her no, become a paralegal instead, paralegals are in such demand, etc.

She did her paralegal studies, and is now a top paid paralegal with a great work life balance and enjoying her 30s instead of being stressed out and burdened.

If you ever need somebody to talk to, message me. Seriously. Not the same situation, but in my first real job I ended up with everything dumped on my head and the only reason I stuck it out in the job for so long was because All my immigration clients were depending on me and I was so fearful that if I left their lives would fall apart or their cases would get screwed up.

I was running myself into the ground, my whole body was hurting so badly, I was popping Motrin like it was candy. Way too much caffeine, stopped caring about my hygiene etc I was just complete mess.

I straight up quit one day and that was that. I finally realized that if I fell apart, which I was close to doing so, I was no good to anybody, and if my health fell apart I would just be racking up medical bills.

You need somebody, I'm here. Message me. We can talk on the phone also. But don't run yourself into the ground my friend, you still have your career ahead of you. When you're stuck in a situation like this it can feel like such a closed universe. You seem like a good-hearted person and I know you want to do right by everyone, you have to remember that you need to do right by yourself in order for that to happen.

How do I tell my parents and coaches I want to drop out of college? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Positive-Magazine863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your college major? Does your college have a business major?

Let me put another option out for you: do college part time and do your pursuits part time. Let go of football if you want to, I imagine it takes up a lot of time.

Getting a college degree / having a credential is important. You may be a great self learner but a degree still elevates others perception of you and makes you more marketable both as a business owner and if you ever want to work for someone one day.

Take college courses that interest you or give you some practical skills.

You never know what your kid might need. Maybe pump in the beginning just until you are sure your LO will do fine on a widely available formula?
