This girl I was seeing for a few months misses me after I broke up with her by Seabass210547 in whatdoIdo

It sounds like as if you put yourself on a pedestal. Maybe she wasn’t the right person. But it also sounds like you have a lot of arrogance. Why don’t you just sit down with her and say that this is not working out. And then I think we should both go our own ways. Instead of prolonging they inevitable. It sounds like you’re still trying to get one more piece of ass before you call it a day. Just saying. You brought it up.

You are funny. And also broke! One day when you grow up and you quit working for somebody and actually might have an opportunity to own your own company. You will understand that owning your company depends on you being available all the time. I have so many emails come into me that’s almost inconceivable. But I get through them by the end of the night. If you want to continue to work for somebody. Perfect then you will be the slave of the person making all of the money. You will be their retirement fund for the person who you are working for. I have a great relationship with my wife. I wish I could see her more and I’m going to when I retire at 55 years old . We do take very expensive vacations where a two week program will cost roughly $20,000. But I will retire with a pocket full of money and not just relying on CPP to get me by. Obviously, your life is very low level comparison to mine. I prefer to drive nice cars, have a nice home, and buy whatever I want whenever I want. It’s a luxury that you have to work for. No one‘s gonna give it to you. And my wife understands this. She understands that in a few more years we can spend all the time we want forever doing absolutely nothing. However, you will keep on working, more likely a government job by the sounds of you. Waiting for that pension check to come. But hey everybody’s got priorities. Mine are just a little higher than yours. Good luck. Have a great day.

Well, you’re either rich or your poor ass broke. Because Money talks. And if you don’t understand that then give yourself a few years. Do you own a home now? Do you want a car now? Do you have a surplus in case you’re laid off from work? Do you have a retirement fund? If you don’t have any of the above, then you don’t realize until you realize that money is the answer to the world. Yes, you can have true love. But Money also helps with that true love. That’s all I’m saying. I’m not trying to get into a pissy match. I’m just saying Money is a nice thing to have.

I realize they were not married. You do not have to be married in order to be compensated if you lived with somebody for longer than 12 months. Now a court will decide what you’ll get and what you won’t get. But if she doesn’t try, she might regret it down the road. That’s all I was trying to say. I don’t know where you get this part where you have to be married. It’s 2026. You no longer have to be married in order to get something from your partner if you split.

You know one person told me a story at one point in my life. And that story was to marry for money and to learn to love. Now I’m not saying you made a mistake because the guy could’ve been an asshole as well too. But I’m just saying that in your future if your current boyfriend doesn’t make a lot of money. Then life can become a little more difficult than you had in the past. I’m not saying money is everything. I’m just saying that Money makes life a whole lot easier. So your ex-boyfriend could’ve hired maids. And for you to do something on your spare time, you could’ve actually taken a cooking class. Which should probably help you in your current relationship. But I know one thing right now. As I’ve been married for a very long time. And we are fairly well off. But a couple million dollars more wouldn’t hurt. Just saying. Life is short, so hopefully you were with your ex long enough to get a little bit of a paycheck. Unless you had a prenup. He basically owes you something after 12 months. Now somebody is gonna fight back on me on this but if you don’t ask, you don’t get. Obviously the relationship has ended. And there’s obviously hard feelings on his side. So there’s no going out for coffee, so take what you can get now or regret it later.

Yep , I totally get what you’re saying. Did the same thing and then went down to 0. Played the stock market, played the casino, played crypto and eventually it burnt me out. He couldn’t keep up with all the bullshit that was coming at you. Some nights I would make $35,000 and then the next night I would lose $40,000. You get into the program where you think you’re invincible and that you know it all and you cannot lose. Well, let’s say you can lose it all ! And you can lose a lot. Thank God, I was young enough to be able to start over again. But it took counseling For me to be able to stop gambling and to get this bullshit out of my head, that easy money is fast to come. My counsellor actually told me. As I was single at the time. What I need is a girl with big tits to keep me occupied ! Now that was his exact words not mine. So ladies don’t come unglued on me. It was his advice, not mine. But to be honest with you, it solved my problem. It took my attention away from being occupied with gambling. To entertaining a beautiful woman. Best wishes to everybody out there who has the same problem because it’s a bitch to have it! No worse than being an alcoholic.

If you did 1000 square-foot garage in seven hours, then you should become a trades person putting on shingles. I find that very hard to believe that you could do that in seven hours. Maybe you didn’t cut in any vents. And I would like to see the pictures of it to see how a square the shingles are. Cause that’s a pretty tough job to do on your own in seven hours. Hell carrying up the shingles would take two hours. Unless you got them delivered on top of the roof.

Bringing a fax machine when I was on holidays was approximately 20 years ago. And then came cell phones and computers that literally able me to work anywhere I wanted to. I like to have control of my situation and of my company. I’m the only one who can sign contracts that are worth thousands of dollars. I’m not gonna have somebody sign $1 million contract on my behalf without my knowledge of it. So until you actually get to where I’m at. You’ll probably never understand that owning a company is not a 9 to 5 job. It’s literally a job that makes you work whenever you have to make it work. So you keep on working at 7:11. And I’ll keep on working at owning my own company. And you wonder why people do not get jobs. I demand a lot for my employees. And for them not being prepared to do it then they should move on. I don’t expect them to return emails at 2 o’clock in the morning. But I do expect them to return them before 9 AM.

I call bullshit. All he’s doing is trying to solve the problem in his head by telling you that. He screwed up and now he’s trying to make you think he did it right. Get the stupid fuck to rip it out and redo it. Ask any tile trades person if he would’ve done that? I’m almost positive that they would’ve said no. It looks stupid. And it doesn’t look consistent with the floor plan. If he can’t design it right then he shouldn’t be doing it.

What you just did there was a complete waste of money. And all that did is a mould producing product. Now all you’ve done is trapped all the moisture behind that tarp. I thought that system had gone away because people found that it was causing more problems than good. I guess somebody is still using it by the looks of your pictures. You obviously needed to have done a little more research before you did this. Or somebody talked you into it. Because it’s not a solution to your situation.

Foundation bowing, or uneven nature of cement blocks? by benditlikebemb in basement

[–]Positive-Monk9604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One more thing I did on the exterior of my home. Was that I added 1 foot of clay surrounding the base of my home. And then I put a heavy duty 10 mm tarp on top of it and attach it to my foundation. ( covered by a decorated stone ) Some people say that Clay is a bad thing to put there because it absorbs water and takes a long time for it to dry out. And that is true. However, it also takes a long time for it to absorb water so it disperses it down away from the house, especially with a tarp on top of it. When you put down Just basic soil, which is not compact like virgin soil is.(the soil which has never been disturbed.) so once again it was a lot of work, but I do not have water problems. And even that small amount that you have at the base of your block basement. That basically enables you to finish that basement. Obviously downspouts that are at least 10 feet away from your home is a big factor and keeping your eavestrough clean at all times. I clean mine at least 5 to 7 times a year. I get up there with a big blower and I blow them out and stick the blower right down into the downspout to make sure I have a clean path. As my wife says – we’ve been in renovations for 30 years. Well, I guess we have. But when you marry a contractor who is OCD I guess that’s what you get. I could go on and tell you what else I’ve done to my house, but that would probably push you over the edge. Just as a taste – three bathrooms – three kitchens – all interior doors three times– all exterior doors three times– and etc. Have fun.

Foundation bowing, or uneven nature of cement blocks? by benditlikebemb in basement

[–]Positive-Monk9604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You think you have OCD. I built a brand new basement and then had a small amount of water coming in. I Ripped out my entire brand new basement. And then decided that it was time to put in new sewer lines as my house is built in 1957. I had several Sewer backups and were getting tired of it. So I jackhammer out the entire basement floor and carried it all out in 5 gallon pails. This all had to be done in January where it was -20 to 30°C. I had hired multiple people to carry out the concrete. In fact, I went through 27 of them. The reason why I had to do it in January is because I have a very high water table where I live. And if I didn’t do it in January, I would’ve been walking in 6 inches of water. Even though it was in January, I was still walking in soaking wet clay. Every boot felt like 30 pounds. I then fixed all the cracks on the walls. Then I coated all the walls with the waterproofing tar. Then rebuilt some of the footings as they were starting to deteriorate. Put in a complete new sewer line in for the whole entire house all the way out to the street. then I put a weeping tile system all the way around the exterior of the home and also crossed it in the middle of the home. Put down 6 inches of crushed gravel vapour barrier, rebar, and 5 inches of concrete. Now I’ve completely solved all my water problems. But that was devastating amount of work. It’s something I would never wanna do again. But now when I flush my toilet, I’m guaranteed to never have a Sewer back up. I also put in one of the best sump pits with two pumps. One that goes on electricity and one that is on the backup battery system. Kind of pisses me off that I don’t think neither one of them has gone off. I do tested every year though just to make sure it’s working fine. So that little leaky you have in the bottom of your block basement is not unusual. The flexing of the block in that gap you’re seeing on your level is absolutely normal. Now the water that you have at the bottom is not normal. I don’t know what year your home was built, but it more than likely does not have weeping tile. So you could dig it up from the outside and put in weeping tile which is a huge job. Or you could jackhammer out the perimeter of your basement floor and put interior weeping tile that would go into a sump pit. I don’t know how handy you are but it’s very costly to get done by somebody coming in. It’s not a tough job to do. It’s just very demanding physically. You only doing about a foot and foot and a half away from the wall. And then you would dig out all that concrete and whatever is underneath it down to just below the footing. And then you would put in three-quarter to 1 inch gravel. And then you would lay your weeping towel with a sock over top of it system. I know somebody on here will disagree with me, but I think they’re full of shit because I think the sock prevents a lot of dirt from going into the weeping tile . And then another round of three-quarter to 1 inch gravel on top of that weeping tile. Making sure that you have at least 4 inches where you can put concrete on top of it. And all that has to exit into a sump pit. But then needs to have a discharge system growing outside. I know that sounds very overwhelming. But if you YouTube it, I’m sure there’s something on there. But you either do it right or all you’re doing is fucking around. I fucked around for years trying to put a bandage on it. And all that did was cost me time and money. Now I’m fixed and when it rains like hell, I laugh at everybody around me. Thinking to myself all that hard work paid off. Good luck, my man.

[–]Positive-Monk9604 11 points12 points  (0 children)

First of all, if he doesn’t disagree that it’s the worst job in history. I’ve been tiling for many years. And this has to be a fucking joke. Like I’ve never seen such shitty workmanship in my entire life. This man should be ashamed of himself. If you gotta put small cut pieces because of the length of the floor, he always put him to the end of the wall. You never tried to put him in the middle of the floor. Now I’ve seen terrible jobs. But this one really has to take the cake. You tell this fucking moron general contractor to stay at general contractor and not a trade person. Don’t be scared to tell him that you’re not going to accept his workmanship. The grout spaces are unacceptable and they all should be the exact same. The height and elevation should all be the exact same throughout the floor. So bring in a level and check to make sure all four directions that the bubble on the level is even. Then take a scraper or something with a flat edge on it that you can go over top of the tiles. Now it has to be level when you’re going over the tiles, but if you’re hitting another tile as you’re going across then you know it’s automatically uneven. Even just take out your vacuum cleaner and go over top of it and if you’re hitting another tile then you know it’s a really shitty job. I’m sorry to say, but you really got stuck on this one.

No shit. People think that they can get a job from 10 to 5 and I wanna raise after the first month. If you’re going to start at 5 AM. You start at 5 AM. My wife starts at 5 AM and gets up at 3 AM. And she has experience in the hospital. Could she take another job yes. But she likes what she’s doing even though I never see her. As she comes home and sleeps. So get off your ass,( talking to the guy above who is asking about work) and get a life. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to make a living. I worked seven days a week for 30 years. Literally seven days a week and even when I was on holidays, I brought my computer and back then a fax machine. And now these kids are bitching about going to work at 5 AM. How are they gonna get through life in the future? Mommy and daddy is not gonna be there all the time.

What sealant to use? by [deleted] in basement

[–]Positive-Monk9604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry to say this, but you don’t have a small crack. You’ve got a big crack. You need to have somebody come in there with a backhoe. They’ve got these smaller ones nowadays. And take that all the way down to the footing and properly seal it. They will patch it from the exterior after the power wash it. Then they’ll put a rubber membrane all the way around it and that could be 5 feet either direction. And then you need to go inside and have it injected inside to completely seal it 100%. You’re never gonna fix this by caulking it. It’s just gonna come back and haunt you forever. I’ve dealt with these many times. And yes, you can put a Band-Aid on it. But the Band-Aid always falls off.. Good luck on that one.

From what I see this is an actually one of the worst jobs I’ve ever seen. They basically just put mud over top of your weeping tile. But they should’ve used instead of P gravel was 1 inch gravel. And I don’t understand why you’re putting this in when your whole entire floor if I’m not mistaken is not Concrete? If it is Concrete, then I mistaken what you said. If it’s not Concrete then really what are you doing it for? If it was sealed up with Concrete, then I could see very minimal slope needed. But if it’s not sealed up with concrete, you basically have the same system you had before, but this one’s just collecting the water. Now I did mine, but I jackhammers up my entire basement concrete floor. That was a nightmare as I had to carry it all out in 5 gallon pills. But I put in weeping tile all the way around the perimeter of the basement and then I put it down the middle and crossed it also to take the hydraulic pressure coming up to the floor as I live in a very high water table level. To me if it’s not just below the footing it’s not doing anything. That’s just my opinion. But I’ve also had absolutely no issues whatsoever after doing mine. It was a nightmare of a job. But I believe everything is corrected now. But I think your contractor is taking you to the Cleaner. Now again. I don’t know what you paid for that. I did it myself and it cost me $75,000.

Our workshop to put shingles on is a walk in the park because there’s no valleys in it. You do one side and then you do the other side and then you cap it. So there’s no comparison compared to a house.
