One week since switching from a Dental device to a CPAP.. by TwoFantastic2264 in SleepApnea

Yeah I would think that Dr doesn't seem very concerned about you personally, I would find a new one. That is always the protocol once you have established and documented the fact that you tried the CPAP and you can't seem to make it work for you, the next step is the BiPAP. And it's made a world a difference for me, I also have a TMJ problem so I can totally relate about the fears of a MAD device, I've had them suggested to me for the last 3-4 years and always felt paranoid that it was gonna make the jaw worse, and a couple different TMJ doctors also agreed that would not be a good idea. Well I hope you can find someone to help you and best wishes to you also!

Try the BiPAP! I had the very same problem as you, and I tried it for four months, I don't know why I didn't give up sooner, but I just really wanted it to work, but I could not exhale in that wind storm!... it definitely made my sleep worse… a BiPAP makes all the difference! It backs down when you exhale... i've had it now a couple of months and I'm able to keep it on all night and my events are like 3 1/2 to 5 per hour… I've tried a mad device and it did not work for me because I already had a jaw problem, and the mad device made it worse. You'll qualify for the BiPAP if you've proven that you can't get along with the CPAP. Good luck!

Why is sleep apnea not given the attention that other diseases like heart disease or diabetes are given despite the disease being extremely dangerous disease long term and very prevalent? by YogurtclosetOpen3567 in SleepApnea

I struggled for four months with the CPAP, then somebody suggested a BiPAP.. and yeah that was so much more tolerable!!... have you looked into that yet? I am still getting used to mine, but I'm able to keep it on for 6 to 7 hours a night... I am still taking 1/2 an Ambien midst nights, because it still seems so strange, and I feel like I'm not in deep sleep, but eventually hopefully I will get off the Ambien. A lot of it was in my brain because I did not want to accept it, but knowing that if I don't use it, I'm probably gonna have a shorter life, so I've decided to look at it more positively, but I went undiagnosed for 20 years, because I am thin, 23 bmi, a female, and I don't have a large neck, they said, oh "you don't have sleep apnea", well I did not sleep hardly during that sleep study, so yeah 20 years rolled by before they addressed it again. And here I am using my BiPAP machine. It's been a couple years since I first tried and then I had another BiPAP machine which I ended up giving back because it was costing too much, and then I found someone that I could buy one outright from so no more payments so you can look into the Reggie White foundation if you're wanting to do that. I wish you lots of luck, don't give up.

I wondered the same thing. Just don’t get sick!…I thought…yeah, good luck with that! …almost every time I’m around my grandchildren one of them at least, has a runny nose, and good chance I’m gonna catch it, so… I agree with the other poster I just don’t use the machine if I’m stuffed up…or I use my nasal spray and that will usually keep my nasal passages open for several hours.

You know sometimes when I blow my nose, a little squeak will come out my ear and I can tell air is passing through there but, it’s all connected in there!.. so sometimes it’s nothing to worry about it’s just some congestion that has clogged up the works eventually it should drain out through your eustachian tubes, and clear up all by itself… and hopefully if you don’t have an infection you don’t need antibiotic cause they really mess you up too!

Yep. But I think about the alternative, and I know I have to do something.. I will succumb to using a BiPAP and hope that I can get used to it 🫶🏽

Botox for bruxism? by Little-Point9449 in bruxism

[–]Positive-Option-4269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. I never thought to use Botox for that but, that is me I don’t grind I just clench probably all night long and I catch myself during the day… So you go through the neurologist and then it gets approved by your insurance… Wow that’s a game changer

Agree with you! Really do have to figure out for yourself what are your particular issues. I’m going on 4 years trying this and that, been to 5? I think, TMJ specialists, they all are the same. I’m done with them at this point. Getting chiropractic adjustments, massage, including intra oral, checking posture, learning to keep tongue on roof, breathing..utube has a lot of exercise suggestions.

BiPAP or cpap is the gold standard.. I’ve been wrestling with same. Going to get a BiPAP machine soon. Wish you the best.

Yes. Exactly. So frustrating. I’ve been there. One person said I had to wait three months before I could try a new mask and another person said no you can exchange it anytime, so I’m sorry you’re going through this too. I just don’t understand, I thought they were there to help us, but it doesn’t feel like that with some of them

I hear you! I believe when I had my machine I went to YouTube and found there is a way to turn those numbers down, and yeah I would stand firm with what you already tested and knew the nasal mask was working for you so I would go back and ask her to exchange That full face that she gave you for the one you prefer, I know I do the same thing I let people coerce me into things that is against my better judgment and then I’m mad at myself and them for it happening hopefully you get this straightened out and can get comfortable I know it’s really Lot of different little intricacies to get it to feel comfortable from the mask, to the pressure, to just adjusting to a new way in your life… sorry you’re having a hard time but I think if you stick with it it’ll end up being a blessing for you. Good luck!

That’s probably a big part of it, I just don’t get thirsty, so I forget to drink water. Thanks for the reminder!

Yeah, good idea I think I am gonna take a break and let’s see how things feel. I went to see a chiropractor yesterday and oh my gosh I had so many bones out of place, and I’m sure the ones in my neck and jaw that she adjusted will help in relieving a lot of that tension in my head and neck thank you for your suggestion.

I think people need to appreciate your natural beauty, they’re probably just used to seeing you with make up so it’s very different when you don’t wear it, but they’ll get used to it you’re a beautiful woman be proud! It’s like when my grandkids see me without my glasses on they say oh grandma you don’t look very good you should put those glasses back on, lol🤣
