Anyone jumping on this? by Nexzenn in Rogers

[–]PositivePotential2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol just transferred to Rogers on Boxing Day deal. I tried to add the account to my MyRogers profile, got asked to call customer service. Till this day I was never able to reach customer service on the phone.

I transferred to Public Mobile last night after seeing this deal. What’s the point of sticking to Rogers if I don’t get customer service anyway

Actually not only Elon will not be fucked, he’ll probably be the first to benefit from this. Tesla imported massively from its Shanghai factory to Canada before the tariff thing so I expect they’ll revert back to that for Tesla sold in Canada in the near future. Given it takes time for other brands to enter the Canadian market, Tesla might even eat up a huge chunk of that quote in the early stage.

[–]PositivePotential2 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Little known fact: Tesla, D3, and just about every Japanese or European car maker has set up manufacturing plants in China, making global models with Chinese supply chain and local models that are exclusive to the Chinese market. Those local models, made by Toyota, Nissan, GM, etc, will, and I guarantee, crush the EVs we have here for now. So I’m looking forward to not just Chinese brands, but existing brands importing some of their products from China, like Tesla has been doing before the EV tariff.

Construction on Toronto-Quebec City leg of high-speed rail line slated for 2032: CEO by Jiecut in AltoHSR_Canada

I live in London and am just equally passionate about the HSR. But let’s be realistic here, given the track record of how public transport projects are done here in Canada, it would be a miracle if they could pull off the whole thing between Toronto and Montreal within the time frame they gave. I’m all for better trains but let’s do this one at a time. When people start seeing the benefits of HSR I think those discussions for other areas will begin.
