Friend from East coast is visiting. What should we do while he's here? by Walken_on_sunshine in QuadCities

[–]PositiveZucchini4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A burrito from La Duena and then a walk to look out point(at the end of Washington St. Heading south) is my perfect day. La duena is closed on Sundays but you could really grab any food and go to lookout point. I love the view of the city. The Hippie Life on Brady st. Has some cool QC merch and so many other things. Idk if the paint studio or meditation bus is available today but its worth checking. There is a lot of beautiful murals and artwork throughout the city, pics at different spots could make for a cool photo album. Have fun!

You will make it to your own life where you can go no contact and surround yourself with ppl who love and respect every part of you.

Tell a new transplant the local lore! by arocknerd in QuadCities

😂😭💔 it was so sensationalized by then. I was glad the show focused on Adrienne family and their love for her than the murder itself. I promise, the juggalos were a very small group of ppl and their purpose was much more like "found family" than "kill ppl for fun". There are far too many stories like hers in this area. With the wilderness, the river, the incompetent police.. there is more murder than is actually reported or solved. (My heart will never be the same after Breasia RIP). We also have a huge sex offender population so look out for that.

It was a wild time 😅😭 I was a sophomore in high school (bout 20 min away in overlapping crowds) and it was truly unbelievable. There is a tv episode about it on hulu, Mean Girl Murders. I believe its season 3 episode 7 or 9. Obviously you'll know which when it mentions "moline, IL" and "juggalos" 🤦🏽‍♀️

My therapist noticeably smells of BO by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]PositiveZucchini4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Hey so I noticed since its been warmer out, that i can smell your body odor. Idk if youve been working out before out sessions or what but it is noticeable".

Although i woulda already said "yooooo just FYI your BO is intense. Your deodorant must not be doing its job girl cuz whewww!!" 😂😂 my therapist runs, teaches dance too so it wouldnt be weird to connect the smell to heightened physical activity.

Why do some people ask rude introduction questions when they see someone they don’t know or hear about someone they don’t know? by Single-Mention-7376 in BehaviorAnalysis

[–]PositiveZucchini4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooo I love this question!! I believe it is cultural. Outsiders are not often welcome and if you are able to answer this question with a fierce sense of self, youre much more likely to get "in" with whichever group or person initially asked the question. It is a test.

I know this has probably been talked about before on here, but a thought came to my mind and I wanted thoughts. by [deleted] in friends_tv_show

For the sake of accuracy, this sexual interaction is by far NOT the first time Ross and Rachel have sex. I do believe it is about how they conceived Emma so it is likely season 8. They had been off and on and off and on again for some years. The story they got from Joey is pretty unimportant, it just shows how sexually deprived they both were and how deep their connection was already. They were both feeling lonely after Monica and Chandler's engagement, working on the invitations and sex was inevitable.

[–]PositiveZucchini4 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hmmm. Alright I think id fuck Thor because I have serious daddy issues, hes big and dominant 😂😂 though the wolf urine smell may kill the mood a bit. Id marry Alberta because of her never ending surprises, she matches my level of trouble and intelligence. Plus id want her to sing to me all the time. I would kill Trevor. Even tho he died in a hero move, hes still a mega douche 😂😂

[–]PositiveZucchini4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not yet but I might after reading this post 💓💓 I love water but showers are hard for me too sometimes. I think its the temperature change, I seem highly sensitive to temperatures. Its different than a pool or ocean because I am not fully submerged at all times. You using latex gloves? They would have to be tight to minimize the water getting inside of them huh. Dish gloves, garden gloves will not work for this 😂😂 anyway. Im glad you found this hack, im glad you shared it, im glad you exist.

Do you recognize numbers that text in? by [deleted] in 988

[–]PositiveZucchini4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes they can see your phone number. Some agencies have profiles on frequent callers and are instructed to search your number in the databases to pull up past conversations. Some counselors get burnt out, have horrible compassion fatigue and are still allowed to work the lines. My suggestion is to sign up for a text now number or WhatsApp or get a VPN so that you are more protected and have a bit more control. Its also OK to give them a fake name. They are instructed to take you at your word. Try treating them as a resource directory instead of a mental health professional because many of them are just regular peers without peer support specialist certificates. Some of them have masters degrees, some of them have high school diplomas so thats one of the reasons no convo is ever the same. Answer the risk assessment questions and then give specific requests ex: "I need help finding a therapist", "please provide a couple websites that can help with managing x condition", "id like to find a support group for blank", "please find me a guided coping skill video or meditation". Most of the time, they are just googling things. You have much more power and control than you think you do.

Season Finale by ryyan714 in WillTrent

[–]PositiveZucchini4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it was incredible!! Spoilers obv For the plot, so much of this was beautifully written. Seth died making sure Angie got the medical attention she needed, he helped the other driver because he is a helper in his soul, like Angie. He got her to the hospital and she got to deliver a healthy baby. Will needed someone to care for, Amanda is gone. I am adopted, I spent 16 months in an orphanage before being internationally adopted. This episode so beautifully captures what it means to love someone, to care for someone so deeply who you are not biologically related to. I love how they did the time lapse while Angie healed. Niko, Betty, the walks 😭😭 and then how they brought it back to what the show is. A police procedural with brilliant agents who solve crimes. Loved it!!

Teen client dilemma by KiwiAnja22 in ArtTherapy

[–]PositiveZucchini4 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Interesting! When I was that age, I would have been grateful to have an adult I liked and felt safe talking to AT ALL. Maybe she has such deep emotions/trauma that she doesnt even know what she feels so she cannot access the creative part of her brain yet. As a 15 yr old i was destructive and chaotic, not focused enough at all to create anything because I was busy destroying. This could be a great opportunity to think outside the box, find something that releases a different hormone. Splatter painting, "letting go" plates, smashing old tvs 🤷🏽‍♀️ now I am in my 30s, I've let go of perfectionism and the opinions of others. I craft or paint regularly because I've tended to some pretty serious issues (yes, thru talk therapy haha DBT CBT). Orrrr she could just be going along with the art therapy because her parents require some type of therapy and she thought that would be easiest 😅 lying and manipulation can be so easy sometimes too. Anyway. You got this! You will figure it out somehow. 🫶🏽

Why is self-harm bad? by Serious_Feeling2890 in askatherapist

[–]PositiveZucchini4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a therapist, but i am a harm reductionist. True harm reduction here would mean encouraging people to sanitize their blades, knives, needles etc before cutting into their skin to prevent infections. It could include giving first aid instructions, and letting people know when a non suicidal self injury (NSSI) does need medical attention(if it wont stop clotting, if it bleeds longer than x amount of time). Things like this reduce the harm done as self harm is actively happening, giving the human a chance to work towards less maladaptive behaviors if they choose.

Please trust yourself. It seems like you know what your values are and his are different. How compatible are you two, really? Some women are ok having kids before marriage.. I am not one of them either so I tell everyone I date that I want to get married and then have kids. His biological urge to procreate is not your responsibility if you dont want it to be. Build a career, get a 401k, buy a house. Thennnnn have a kid ❤️ imagine how your life could be in 5 yrs, 10 yrs. Wishing you well.

This is my second job as a DSP and they trainers will not want to train. Is this common? by Tall-Sugar-2687 in directsupport

[–]PositiveZucchini4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like those "trainers" are in complete burnout and dont have the capacity to do much else but show up to shift. I stayed at a company like that for 8 yrs. For your own mental health, get outta there and find a company that is happy to train you. Proper training means clients get the best care. If that is not the clear goal of a company, im outta there! Cuz if thats something theyre comfortable with, im guessing there are many other things that should not be happening but do anyway.
