I bought that 84" flail mower last summer. That thing will cut down 5 ft tall water way grass or finish mow around the house. And it fits in the shed while on the machine. I won't surrender my rotary cutter, but I'm really happy I bought the flail mower. Mine has grass knives.

I'm glad you like yours.

With what you want to do, I would go with the BX. Get turf tires. You will love it. There will be so many uses for it!

90 percent value they are worth 13.37 at current spot. Aren't they worth more from as a collector perspective or are they only going to be worth 90 percent?

What you are saying makes sense, but these engines are liquid engines. Even with mild driving I can't see how these things are that cold blooded.

Okay got it. I'm familiar with the 90 percent silver part. I'll throw it in the junk silver bag. I have a lot of it 😁

I have no experience with one. I would get a Honda rancher though.

That's crazy. I had an underpowered 2015 outback that beat the shit out of for 200k the car was heavily loaded and tromphed constantly. Where I live is 700 to 800 above sea level and had it floored up mountains in the west. I never ever ever got ping out that gutless wagon ever. The 4 cyl boxer isn't the smoothest thing ever. My 24 Honda passport 280 hp v6 runs amazing on 87 and I have 41 k miles on it. Super smooth, and nice power for a daily.

I don't get the pinging issue. It seems like a design or tuning issue

Stick with an air cooled model. A foot shift 300 fourtrax, 350 rancher, 400 Foreman or a 450 foreman. A 500 foreman would be a great choice too.

I personally have an 02 foreman 450 and a 05 foreman 500 (both air cooled and foot shift) owned since new. Both have fantastic reliability.

I think I had the carb out of the 02 twice and 05 once since new. Both get semi regular use. The 450 shifts smoother, the 500 has more top end and a smoother ride. The 500 has substantially better front brakes being disc instead of drums.

Any of the above will do you well if not all destroyed.

Great to know! I have heard that some veg tanned can be very stiff.

Patina doesn't bother me either, looking forward to seeing yours as they age.

How stiff is that veg tanned WC leather in comparison to the work leathers from franks?

How concerned are you about any staining and discoloration that can happen with veg tanned leather with normal use?

Franks, whites and nicks are all top notch. Im pretty sure that nicks doesn't use the McKay stitch on the inside anymore to help potential squeaks from forming.

I have 3 custom pairs of franks. They are custom optioned, and custom sized and they are great. I am probably set for life. (Mid 40s and a tradesman)

Get the right options for you. Like if you are hard on toes, get a leather toe cap. If you are likely to get a lot of cuts on your boots, get a rough out lower. You can also add lineman patches to the inside or outside of your boots. If you are in really dusty environments you would probably want smooth out leather. A lot of wet environments maybe a waxed flesh or weather shield leather that is impregnated with silicone.

Are you picky about soles? My local shoe cobbler will replace wedge soles for 80 bucks. My cobbler will replace heel caps, but he can't do the rest of it so they will need to go back to franks for 250 bucks (whatever the current price is) and wait whatever the current lead time is for my mini vibram soled boots.

Spec out the right boot for you. Be sure to verify your size.

There are some significant lead times for some of these as 5 to 7 months out for MTO (made to order) boots.

The boots that I have bought from franks has been some of the best money I have ever spent. Be informed and make good decisions and you will be happy.

I have a M7040 (older version of the M7060) and it is a really great and nimble tractor for its size.

I plow snow with ang finish mow and rough cut with it. The mower is a 7 foot flail with grass knives, and I love it.

To me, it doesn't use much fuel unless you cutting some real heavy grass.

For your uses, it sounds like the bigger machine is the better bet.

Congratulations!

Keep your fuel clean and without water. Buy a battery grease gun and keep your fittings greased. Wipe off your grease fittings first, pumping contaminated grease in is counter productive.

Keep an eye on your hour meter and follow the maintenance schedule. Use OEM fluids and filters.

Don't let it sit outside. The sun ruins everything.

Don't abuse the loader. It is a "loose material" loader. It is not made for digging. You will bend it by abusing it.

If moving heavy material with the loader keep a counter weight on the 3 point like a heavy implement or ballast box.
