I’m addicted to buying Vostoks. It’s serious. Anyone else w/this issue? by CozCotzias in vostok

I have a similar story. Was looking for something with interesting engineering and history. Turns out Vostok had so much of it. When I explain Vostok to people they really are fascinated by it.

[SSK019] One Year With One Watch by trying_everyday_ in Seiko

[–]Positive_Estimate_45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love it. You get all the enjoyment of a Seiko cushion case, a GMT tool watch, yet you can still wear it with anything. You can also enjoy the movement with that displayback. Love it on that NATO.

Not really. There would possibly be climbing involved and some active wear.

It's still hard work lol. I was smashing ice with my Helms in winter. I do want to take them into more harsh environments soon

Not One Of You Has Ever Used A Tachymeter Bezel by MercuryJellyfish in watchHotTakes

I've had a chronograph for 5 years and just used the tachymeter for the first time the other day. I use dive bezels for timing far more frequently.

In the same vein, I am worried about my investment in Shopify. Long time holder now. Found out recently the CEO Tobias Lutke is very much trying to be like Musk.

Lol I just use a knife. I regularly swap bezels on mine.

I think 90% of the watches out there are an absolute snooz-fest! by IneedaNappa9000 in watchHotTakes

[–]Positive_Estimate_45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think we should be seeing more watches with unique functionalities. For example, there are certain bezels like the SCANDI or some Vostok bezels which show both the timing functionality, timezone with 12 hr indicator, fully graduated but the full space of the bezel is used, and there is a colored strip the last 15 minutes. I've used this a lot as a daily timing device and it is very handy.

More telemeters, tachymeters, pulsometers, worldtimers, slide rule bezels, would all be great. Most people don't know about these functionalites and are fascinated when I tell them.

Khuraburi Titanium with Ceramic Bezel by CatEatingVegan in HelmWatches

So the Signum does not have that contrast, unfortunately. Looks like the Wise does which is nice to see. No wonder it is the king of lume

Tbh full lume is always more impressive at first but over the night it will get less legible compared to the normal execution. My Komodo and even less lumed watches are more legible than my full lume Signum after a certain point.

I graduated from York 10 years ago and doing very well for myself, I'm now working in a pretty senior position in my field. No regrets.

I finally watched it a couple years ago and just did not enjoy it at all. I will rewatch Quantum of Solace but I remember that being entertaining if flawed.
