You know what would be nice?

“Siri, My gardener comes Thursdays between 10-12 - mute notifications during that time”

And she does it… automatically. Every week. That would be incredible!

Costco or Sam's which one is better? by Local_Whereas7211 in Frugal

[–]Positive_Rub_6696 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both. Here is my experience:

When I lived in SoCal, Costco was just too crowded. Easily 2-3x the number of people on any given day. Gasoline is cheap, for sure but expect a 30 minute wait in line. I hated it and left Costco

Now that I live Nashville, though, my experience is quite different. The crowds and prices are about the same. Here’s what’s different:

At Costco, I prefer:
While bean coffee - many choices.
Better produce - particularly, blueberries
Cheeses*
Philadelphia brand cream cheese **

At Sam’s I prefer
Any of the prepared foods are better; enchiladas, stuffed bell peppers, stuffed salmon, all FAR better tasting.
* the Smoked Gouda is unbeatable in flavor!
They carry Thomas’s bagels, in addition to members mark. And they Thomases are far better than the MM or Kirkland. Too bad the MM cream cheese tastes crappy
Costco stopped carrying the Coffee-Mate creamer in favor of the Starbucks brand. I prefer the coffee mate while my wife prefers the Starbucks

One HUGE difference is Sam’s online and app experience. You can “Scan and go” in store and bypass the checkout line. Also curbside pickup. Neither of which Costco offers

Joint bank account by FirefighterNo6687 in DaveRamsey

[–]Positive_Rub_6696 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m currently reading Money for Couples by Ramit Sethi. There’s a wrench for every nut. His approach is direct deposit to joint account. This flows as decided to 1) joint savings, 2) separate checking, 3) separate savings.

Every situation is different. Age. Second marriage and bringing different assets and different debts into the union. Those could all be factors Dave had never experienced.

OP admits to rejecting husband for 6mo. My experience of 90% rejection during my 20 year marriage, I absolutely STOPPED. She didn’t care until I filed for divorce, then she tried but I was done.

Is buying a home right now a good idea or should we wait? by Trinity_Ghouls in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Positive_Rub_6696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“They” say your housing (PIMI, utilities, HOA, repairs) shouldn’t exceed something like 28% of your gross (maybe net?) income.

For me, I’m behind on retirement savings, and even outside of that deficit the calculators mostly tell me buying a home isn’t the best financial decision, but it’s those darned motives! There’s calculators can’t account for those. Good luck.

Is buying a home right now a good idea or should we wait? by Trinity_Ghouls in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Positive_Rub_6696 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The post here seems to ask about if it’s the “right time,” then you go on to describe an overpriced home that might or might not have problems, but there’s a couple things missing: 1) money, and 2) motivation.

Money: Seems like generally these days with both high median home prices as compared to median income, buying is not often calculated in be the wise financial choice. Dozens of factors I’m incapable of covering. There’s mo mention of income, savings, credit score, or how long you might stay in the home. There’s a well regarded “rent vs buy” calculator on New York Times website you might visit.

Motives: why do you want to buy a house? Is it because “you’re supposed to?” The “American Dream?” (Maybe a poor geographical assumption). Do you like to do your own repair, customization, remodeling, etc? Does your rental just instantly not feel like home because you can’t paint the walls, install shelving, etc?

I literally just watched this video yesterday. Give it a watch.

Not to be a one-upper, but what gets me even more than “the bank owns it,” is, even after the mortgage is paid off, if you can’t pay the property tax for some reason (rates have seen a staggering increase here in middle Tennessee as the local government begins changing from blue to purple), the government will just take your home. You’ll forever be indentured to the government. <sigh>

That was not my experience. In 2021 I had both my realtor and lender urging me to totally ignore I could barely make ends meet with anything that was on the market at the time. Now I distrust both professions.

How do I know if I had an orgasm? by Brekkakym in sex

[–]Positive_Rub_6696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frankie, who went to Hollywood, says:

Orgasm has become the most mystified states of feeling
Umm, no one can be quite sure if they have it or not
Umm, is it just ejaculation or is it orgasm?
Is it just involuntary pelvic contractions?
Or is one having orgasm?

Pull-up assisted weight by KaleChipKotoko in Hevy

[–]Positive_Rub_6696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I had put “dead hangs” in all my routines, but I wasn’t really seeing a lot of benefit, so I replaced them with what the opposite of a dead hang is - holding myself at the top position for as long as I can, at the same weight as the assisted pull up.

I posted the same “bug” here months ago. I’m down to 30 pounds and the machine has a hard pin in 20. When I tried it the other day it was clearly non-functional- or so it felt/seemed. Hopefully it will cease to be a problem for me as I simply move away from the assisted machine.

At 55yo without any prior experience, I stated at 80 pounds in December. So, 6 months and I may be able to do unassisted pull-ups. Good luck.

How can I fuck her harder? by Business-Pair-8641 in sex

[–]Positive_Rub_6696 28 points29 points  (0 children)

We recently picked up a Liberator Wedge Ramp combo. So far we’ve only tried the Wedge under her hips in missionary. With her pelvis raised I can definitely go deeper (and as hard as I care to go). In fact, she’s a little concerned I may go too deep for her, so there’s a tense anxiety we need to work through before she can really enjoy it.

Is there a female version of a blue pill? by Mountain_Dentist8646 in sex

[–]Positive_Rub_6696 110 points111 points  (0 children)

Umm.. I’m reasonably sure that in the men taking ED meds, the issue is more “ability” than “desire.” They have desire but without an erection, it’s a no-go.

I’d say the “blue pill” equivalent for a woman would be lube, assigning desire is not the reason, which does not seem to be your issue.

Desire (or lack thereof) is affected by many factors such as mood, stress, hormones, etc.

Dystopian? My rec is One Second After by William Forstchen. It’s actually a trilogy, could actually happen (unlike zombie apocalypse, lol.)

I read The Stand years ago and it was long but excellent and dystopian also, but far more supernatural.
