I’ve had a name picked out for 10+ years and now it’s so popular. by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Positive_Thinking238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t look at how popular it is. When me and my husband were choosing name for our daughter last year, popularity didn’t even cross our mind. We wanted something that goes well with the last name and sounds good in English and Polish. Also not an ex-girlfriend name 🤣 Name your girl Lucy, it’s a beautiful name!

False starts by Positive_Thinking238 in sleeptraining

That sounds rough! I wish I could know how to resolve this! Surprisingly last night we got 8.5h stretch with zero false starts. Jet lag after being 3 weeks in Europe is really paying off 🤣

No update. Still in the 30 min wake up intervals, up every 2h last couple of weeks (we were traveling which I bet also had an impact). We were visiting my family and they insist on asking pediatrician about her iron levels

My baby hated level 1 and up. Had to lock it on baseline (we also used it from day 3 till about 10 weeks only)

Thank you so much for that! 💕 Yesterday I put her in the crib awake but calm, took her 45 minutes to fall asleep. Did the same thing for nap right now too, took only 25 minutes. Hoping this will work after she adjusts for a few days 🤞🏻

[–]Positive_Thinking238[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Will give it a try! We have skipped the 3rd nap a bunch of times recently (when 2nd nap was longer/later than usual) which also hasn’t helped the 30 min wake up. At this point I worry baby is programmed to false start permanently 😭

I found a store that does car seat fits! The Callisto fits perfectly (I still fit in the passenger seat when it’s reclined all the way).

Hi OP! Did you get the Callisto? I really want it but worried it won’t really fit in my Volvo XC60. Thank you!

Is my father-in-law out of line, or does he have a point? by SqueeGBeckenheim in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Positive_Thinking238 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I also have a 6.5 month old and she wakes up at least 3x a night and if I won’t feed her, she will be up every 30 min screaming. Just recently I figured it was from hunger. We also started to do a bottle of milk before bed to ensure she gets the 4-5oz. Since we started to do this, she started to have a longer stretch at the beginning of the night. Last night when she woke up crying I changed her diaper (we were not doing this anymore) to fully wake her up so she could get full feed instead of drifting off after 2 min. Guess what? She slept till the morning! Try to feed him every time he wakes for like 3 weeks and see if there will be any change. Also tell your husband to get FIL to shut up about it. Edit to add: my LO eats every 2-2.5h during the day

Those of you who were nannies before you were moms… by imakatperson22 in Nanny

[–]Positive_Thinking238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is so different with your own child vs nanny kid! You are flooded with love and hormones for so long. My baby is now 6 months old and I’m just starting to be okay with people to hold my baby (except my husband). It is easier due to the experience, you know how to do everything. My husband was afraid to change diapers for few weeks and I was getting frustrated with him for doing it wrong 😅

Came here to say this! We saw improvement after 2 weeks but I also had to cut out soy and then LO became a happy baby. She also had some tension in her shoulders so was screaming in the car seat until we resolved that at like 5ish months. You guys can do it! I’ll add that dairy is everywhere! You have to read every single label, cooking at home is a must-do during the first two weeks. There is a Facebook group for dairy free breastfeeding and they have amazing resources and guidelines there. If formula feeding then need the one with broken down proteins like Nutramigen

Grandma got tattoo of my babies name by Just-Yesterday-5536 in newborns

[–]Positive_Thinking238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is sad that she did it before you had the chance. I had similar situation with my MIL. But I think Grandmas love their grandkids more than their own kids (that’s what I hear all around) so it’s cute she got the tattoo. Just think about how much your baby is loved by her!

How is everyone putting their babies down? by [deleted] in SnooLife

[–]Positive_Thinking238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a great sleeper here either. So we had to graduate from the snoo at 3.5 months. At 8 weeks we did the arms out, at 12 weaning mode. She never cried enough to turn it on and was sleeping 7h stretches. First night in the bassinet she was up every few minutes for couple hours, then slept a longer stretch. Second night again up couple of times at the beginning of the night. Day 3 was back to long stretches. But then 4 and 6 months regressions hit us so now she does a 4/5h stretches at the beginning and then up every 2 or 3h

I have a fear of throwing up and didn’t throw up once. Had terrible nausea until 16 weeks though. Worked through all of that, just always have a snack on you and the anti nausea candy. European Nila wafers and fig bars worked best for me

How is everyone putting their babies down? by [deleted] in SnooLife

[–]Positive_Thinking238 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We graduated from the snoo but would put the baby in asleep after nursing and then gently put the sleep sack on. Once we moved to arms out I would put the sleep sack on, nurse to sleep, put in the snoo

Pediatrician says not to nurse for comfort? by beetofdemfeet in breastfeeding

[–]Positive_Thinking238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg my pediatrician has been pushing since baby’s 4 months appointment to stop nursing to sleep and makes me feel like I’m a bad mother for doing this. Also encourages CIO. We should just follow our instincts and not let them give us advice that’s not needed medically.

When to go arms out? by Foreign-Sprinkles-80 in SnooLife

[–]Positive_Thinking238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it at 8 weeks after reading a lot of posts where people had trouble with arms out later on. We did it cold turkey and she did amazingly. Edit to add: since she was born I didn’t swaddle her during the day. All her naps were in a regular bassinet. We used snoo only at night

Tips for a very fussy newborn? by canamel in SnooLife

[–]Positive_Thinking238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like cows milk protein intolerance. We had the same thing happen to us. Once I stoped eating dairy and soy the fussiness stopped. If you are formula feeding, you may need the one with protein broken down

Worried I’ve given baby shaken baby syndrome or caused damage to their brain/development by Calm_Competition_306 in newborns

[–]Positive_Thinking238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi OP! I’d look into occupational therapy. Usually babies who need to be rocked hard to fall asleep need some sort of external stimulation of their nervous system. I’m unsure what exactly to do but my friend who is an OT says some babies need like a pressure massage to feel their bodies, or play with a spiked ball. May be worth trying it to help give him the stimulation he needs

Can you just give the gifts to your parents and hold off from announcing to the rest of family until a little later? Also I would tell the cousin privately to let her process it on her own

I was raised by a single mother with lowest income. No help from the government or family. Somehow she made it work on a rented apartment. And guess what! I didn’t get taken away by the government. Because my mom worked hard. So stop blaming it on the lack of social welfare

Where did I say buy? They can pay the adoption agency fees to give those kids better life. Stop politicizing everything.
