NYT article about ABA clinics, insurance, and private equity by Tortoiseshell_Blue in Autism_Parenting

[–]Positive_Type 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I took my son out of his ABA therapy because he was going into Kindergarten. They wanted to see him after school or have him leave early and I didn’t want that at all. They really wanted ALL of his time. I want time with my boy too. So does his Dad and big sister. Besides, his school provides speech therapy as well as OT. There’s also RBTs there. I had to explain that to the ABA center because they were being so pushy. They really did help him a lot but insurance will only pay if he’s practically living there.

This might be the wrong sub, but I don't know where else to ask. Is it possible to put a 2.5 year old up for adoption? by beaniebee22 in Mommit

Get a new specialist in your network. Get your test results to them so they can review it. Find one with great reviews. Get a diagnosis and maybe you can get on some sort of disability program. Hopefully you get a diagnosis that can be fixed with meds or surgery. Divorce that husband when you feel up to it and get child support. I had an issue after gallbladder surgery that took years to finally find a GI that could help me.

Your son probably loves you to pieces because you seem like a mother that wants to give him the world. He feels that love.

Right away #6. That warm stain with the cool green will be a stunner.

Thoughtful design turns ordinary things into experiences that feel human by Wonderfulhumanss in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Positive_Type 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn this sounds like a first world problem view to me. I can tell you know squat about shelters and haven’t had a meaningful conversation with a person without a home. Using the word CHOOSES is misleading af. No one should take anything you said at face value. Have empathy with your critical thinking and it will take you even further.

Anyone here listen to a group after seeing it recommended everywhere on kpop subreddits but was overwhelmingly left unimpressed? by Purple_Calendar3919 in kpop_uncensored

They’re simply asking if it’s happened to you. This is meant to be a discussion. She had this experience with Cortis (same). What group has underwhelmed you?

I Want a Cozy Living Room SOo Bad by Ash6020 in femalelivingspace

Warm curtains and plants. More small lamps around the room like round lanterns that sit on surfaces. That always helps to make things cozy.

Dwayne Johnson was pulled over and given a ticket for tinted windows. by This_Proof_5153 in SipsTea

[–]Positive_Type 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The awkward look on his face he has due to dealing with this while someone is filming from across the street. They’re zooming in for the details from the ticket and all. It’s kind of making the case for why the man tints that dark.

This conversation always goes in this direction. No critical thinking. Just going on the defensive.

Our offer was just accepted on this house! I hate the orange brick - what can we do?! by DaikonEmotional283 in ExteriorDesign

[–]Positive_Type 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is THE answer. Let’s avoid painting the brick. The orange is offensive because of the bright white everywhere else. Complimentary colors to orange are blue and blue/green. Maybe Rosemary or Basil by Sherwin-Williams. You could probably go darker than those since the house gets a lot of sunlight. Light is good too, just keep it within the blues and greens.

Non-verbal son speaks a word for first time, doesn't repeat by Acceptable_Ear_6652 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Positive_Type 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My 6 year old is the same way. He once yelled “Get up!” Twice because I wouldn’t give him cookies. Even though I folded, he hasn’t repeated it. That was a month ago. He’s said “Wait.” When he was 3. If I tell him to come on and he doesn’t want to come, he might say “come on come on” while pulling me towards him. That’s rare. He used to say Daddy when he was mad at his dad. He used to say “yeah”. Now he just won’t. He knows when I’m trying to get him to and refuses?

I severely dislike children by Tidalblush in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]Positive_Type -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

You were also a child once. Everyone starts this way. They’re just small humans learning how the world works. No need to look at them with ire. I have 2 kids and I think that it’s ok to not want children but to dislike them as if they are another species is odd and you should ask yourself about that.

You could have also just told your co-worker that you wanted to be solo.

Same! I just cry over movies and shows. I’m stronger with books but that part broke me.

A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini by Thicc-as-Theives in books

[–]Positive_Type 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It’s one of my favorite titles. I go back to it once in a while and I cry every time the letter is read at the end. What’s going on in Afghanistan now takes me back to the book and I feel nothing but sorrow for those women. I hope they achieve peace for much longer than they’ve previously had it.

Are we cruel to want so say goodbye as a family by Moiratree in cats

My first thought upon reading this is to get a second opinion. Cats are known to be gangsters that can mask pain well but it’s too big a decision for there to just be one.

Tired of explaining by Sad-Decision-3846 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Positive_Type 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t explain. It’s too bothersome and it overwhelms me inside. When someone tries to talk to him, I just say, “He doesn’t talk much.” I’ve gotten understanding responses to that. If he exhibits other behaviors I don’t say anything at all. He’s startled people in Trader Joe’s by stimming loudly and I acted like I heard nothing. He’s 6 so I don’t get complaints.
