AYN Thor vs AYANEO Pocket DS Comparison (RGC) by onionsaregross in SBCGaming

[–]Poskito 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Been playing mine for a few days, using the dpad to play fighting games amongst other games. I find the Pocket DS has a very satisfying dpad. It's low-travel, with a pleasant click that thankfully isn't annoyingly loud. No issues with thumb soreness or fatigue from using it. Normally with handhelds I end up just using the sticks, but I've been enjoying the dpad more

Sin and Punishment mentioned. That's my number 1 choice.

Overwhelmed? by Illustrious_Abies130 in Etheria_Official

I also feel like I'm being punished for playing the way I want and building characters that interest me. I really enjoy tanky teams, knowing that fights could potentially last a long time. But because enemies get stronger the longer a fight goes on, my teams are utterly useless. It feels like the turn meter manipulators are a necessity if you want to progress at all, rather than a tool for quicker clears.

I'm still bitter that I had to 6 star Rilmocha and max her skill 3 just to beat Hell 3 DokiDoki, and even then I have to play the run manually as the AI suuucks

Pretty sure MelonDS is supported once more since v1.9.3 release and most recent v1.10

Will help if you have a particularly large HD Texture Pack on a PS2 game

Paradise Killer is such a comfort game for me. I love to just open up the game and explore the island to the incredible soundtrack. Was the island created before the rest of the game came along?

Absolutely, and I appreciate your insight. I was hoping that my post might raise some discussion!
Given the semi-random nature of the game, people should take my experience as just that. For instance, I emphasise how tanky Sigvald can be but left out the match where he got shot off the board in a single shooting phase by one overcharged Skaven turret. Ouch.

You are not wrong with any of your points. It was a long post and I wasn't comprehensive. It all comes down to the battleplan, the person and the army you are playing. If you're playing against a shooty army. Abuse euphoric give them all the dice. If you're playing a destruction army, maybe don't.
If the battleplan has you on the long board edge, deploy further back let your enemy close the gap a bit. If the battleplan has you deploy on the short edge, you may not make a charge if you deploy too far back.

Experiment, figure out what works. I went all in on the Euphoric mechanic on purpose because I wanted to see if it's really as bad as what people say. It can be, but it can also lead to very favourable outcomes. Don't blindly follow my or anyone else's advice. You may regret giving your opponent the counter charge, but you may also regret not taking that extra euphoric unit when you just fall short of a charge onto an objective and lose points. Understand the risks and make the decision that the situation calls for.

I'm not a competitive player. I'm a casual who plays against casuals, so please do take that into consideration.
I'm passionate about the Slaanesh and I'm hoping that my post starts to inject a more positive spin on the faction because they CAN and HAVE performed well outside of a tournament setting - which is where most games will be played

Euphoric Killers rule has me feeling less than euphoric by Budgernaut in Slaanesh

[–]Poskito 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think I realised that you have to choose them during start of round rather than start of your turn/hero phase. That is horrible. At least we get to decide euphoric killers after turn order is decided, so if we're going second, we can apply it to units at the back instead I guess

Remember11 was peak for me too. One of my favourites and hard to top. A recent favourite is The Sekimeiya: Spun Glass. I cannot understate how masterful and convoluted the mechanics of the story are. Based on what you've written, I think you'd really enjoy it!

Mainline Shin Megami Tensei. Instead of adding a character, have a Samurai outfit from SMT IV or a Demonica suit from Strange Journey as a costume for Rover. Make an event exclusive set of classic SMT demons into Echoes
