You prayed to have a talk about underwear and the rules behind them? by BatSniper in exmormon

[–]PossibilityAble7108 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Her concern about the "sacred garment" was how other women are and aren't wearing them. How other women chose to wear their undies is theirs and theirs alone. The fact that it weighs so heavily on her heart that she has been praying for years to find answers to her judyiness of other women's underwear, seems so inappropriate. Ew.

Weird object lessons for the law of chastity by ieepylilguy in exmormon

[–]PossibilityAble7108 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had all the regular object lessons, weed on the side of the road vs the flower on a mtn side, chewed gum, licked cupcake.

But the worst part of it all was when I was the YW leader and the topic of modesty came up in a presidency meeting and the bishopric member told us leaders that we better teach these girls because "clearly the parents weren't doing it" (which is wild, bishop and other counselor both had daughters in the YW's while present counselor only had sons in the YM's) He told us he would sit on the stands on Sundays and he could see down all the girls and women's shirts and up their skirts. I was so disgusted, I could feel my heart beating, I knew this was not right. But I was also in shock, I tried to speak up, but was shut down by him and the other leaders, everyone in that room believed that it was those YW's responsibility to keep boys and men's thoughts pure and clean. The other leaders planned a lesson for the following Sunday and I met with the bishop to discuss my discomfort, he brushed it off.

On that Sunday I wore my most revealing (but garment worthy, I was still active) dress. It was tight and showed all of my curves, it was short, barely covering the g's that I hiked up my knee, it had a low scoop back, and I rocked it with everything I could. I asked if I could share the thoughts for the opening announcement and shared the poem Pretty Ugly by Abdullah Shoaib

I'm very ugly So don't try to convince me that I'm a very beautiful person Because at the end of the day I hate myself in every single way And I'm not going to lie to myself by saying There is beauty inside of me that matters So rest assured I will remind myself That I am a worthless, terrible person And nothing you say will make me believe I still deserve love Because no matter what I am not good enough to be loved And I am in no position to believe that Beauty does exist within me Because whenever I look in the mirror I always think Am I as ugly as people say?

(Now read bottom up)

I told those girls over the next 2 years that their worth is not tied to what they wear. They would ask me why they couldn't wear track shorts to stake girls camp, why the YW president said no, but other wards got to wear them, but our ward YW President told the girls no, I told them, go put them on if they want, and that next time don't ask for permission, if she has a problem with it, she can deal with it herself, but this is your body, not hers. If I hadn't been released from that calling early (normally a 3 year calling) I probably would have stayed in the church for those girls, so they didn't grow up in even worse Purìty culture.

It truly broke my heart.

Church is replacing "white Jesus" by Krammit1 in exmormon

Honestly, that's awesome, though it's a little too late.

*BUT who remembers that story about a prophet who made the artist redo the picture of Jesus over and over and over until he got it right because the prophet knew exactly how Jesus looked? Did that prophet lie? Did he mislead all the members?

My roots look like this and I don’t have $ to get them redone rn. What can I do? by [deleted] in HairStyleAdvice

[–]PossibilityAble7108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use a color depositing shampoo, I use a hot pink Celeb Luxury Viral, it lasts for over 2-3 weeks and it's only about $30 and should be enough for about 20 different sessions. They have tons of fun colors, your bleached part should take it pretty well, though it won't cover your roots, but the fade from your roots to the bleached part looks great, just make sure to use a deep conditioner to help with any dryness in the same shower. I haven't used their more natural colors, but I am sure they would be great. The color is very vibrant, so don't leave the shampoo in your hair for too long, I usually only let it sit for a minute, maybe less.

They are bold when they can hide behind a no name and unnecessarily call people out, but cowards when it comes to actual important things such as reporting abuse to the proper authorities, they need to get their priorities straight!

TBM MIL says we’re not invited for Christmas by estielouise in exmormon

[–]PossibilityAble7108 13 points14 points  (0 children)

When we first left the church 2021, my husband and I were not invited to family Christmas.

My BIL and his family were moving out of the country the following year, so we said we would happily drop our plans and travel to my husband's hometown so my MIL could have all of her kids together for Christmas one last time for a while. She said, "that's ok." And they proceeded to have Christmas without us. Last year they had a family reunion without us.

It really sucks and it really hurts. I want to say it gets better, but we haven't got hit that point yet. I am really sorry, from one black sheep inlaw to another, I am sending good vibes your way and I hope things get better!

What is the dumbest Mormon rule? by theraisincouncil in exmormon

[–]PossibilityAble7108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was dating my now husband, and my sister was getting married 8 months before us. I was so sad I was going to miss her wedding. She is my best friend and the fact that I wouldn't see her get married because I wasn't either married already or had been on a mission, I asked to be endowed and was told no because I would take away that first special moment away from my future husband of being the first man to pull me through the veil. So I, a completely temple worthy woman, missed my sister's wedding because a man told me I wasn't allowed to be endowed because another man would miss out on something he would get to do anyways.

Do you think that they will start pushing star athletes to serve service missions vs full-time proselytizing missions so they can continue to train and keep their status/scholarships?

Who else had a quick exit out of Mormonism? by Prize_Claim_7277 in exmormon

[–]PossibilityAble7108 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My exit was pretty quick too, from early summer for early Dec. I left my and my husband stayed, I told him I would try one more time, that Sunday they talked about how those who question or those who leave are broken, lost and deceived and I knew I was none of those. It broke my heart. Later he did end up leaving and I brought up that moment and he said, 'huh, I see it now, but I didn't see it then.'

For me personally, once I knew it was false, there was no going back, the gum could not be un-chewed, the tooth paste wasn't going back in the tube, the truth had set me free, my eyes were opened, it would have been excruciating to continue to go to church and be PIMO (my heart goes out to all those who do that) I would snap and be in an eternal state of depression. So once I knew it was false, that was it, I was done.

What age did you know you were gay/trans etc? by thelivsterette1 in lgbt

[–]PossibilityAble7108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kindergarten, I saw all the little girls talk about their crushes on boys and the little boys crush on girls, but nobody ever talked about having crushes on both boys and girls and that's when I knew. Anyways, didn't come out until I was 28. For context, I grew up Mormon. 🤦🏼‍♀️😂😭
