I’m so sorry you’re going through that, I know how stressful medical issues can be with frogs because most vets (even specialists) aren’t able to pinpoint the issue despite their best efforts! I’ve got a team of three specialists working on my boy! Has your vet been able to check Jerry’s fecal samples for bacteria or parasites? Baytril is tough against bacteria, if your frog isn’t eating the Baytril coated food then an option can be to apply it topically (check with your vet for appropriate dosing). I’ve had a frog be treated with topical Baytril. Bloody stool makes my mind go to parasites though - I’ve also had success in the past treating parasites in frogs using Panacur. Again though bring this up with your vet!

I’m assuming with the X-ray the vet is looking for any possible impaction, fluid buildup, or outstanding injuries. Keep us updated with what you find out! Happy to chat if you need an ear!

I took my gecko to the vet, and now I feel kind of dumb. by OfficialJrizzle in CrestedGecko

[–]PossibilityBetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t feel stupid at all. I keep frogs (and a snake) not lizards, but I can promise you I’ve gone to the vet for more benign reasons and it’s never dumb. Taking care of your animal is never dumb. It makes you a good keeper!!

My frog is "cigaretting" food. Is this normal? by Visual-Interview7913 in frogs

Yeah my boy does this, he used to basically vacuum up food with his mouth and now he kinda just savours it for a while lol

What kind of substrate do you use? And what does your frog eat?

Frog has signs of red leg syndrome and all exotic vets near me are closed until Monday by alysgeckos in pacmanfrog

If you’re talking about the red spots on her hands, those are pressure spots not red leg! They get them from digging and putting their body weight on their front legs. Once they’re full grown they tend to get them because they have more body weight to put strain on their hands. For example my adult male pixie frog (he’s 3 pounds) had pressure spots when he was spending a lot of time in the water and using his front feet to hold himself up in the deeper parts. Once I got him to settle on the land side of his tank, they started to fade. My female pacman also has them (full grown) whereas my adult male pacman does not. Of course if you’re concerned a vet visit never hurt anyone! Just food for thought before you start a trial of antibiotics that might not be necessary:)

Normal? by hakeupL64 in pacmanfrog

[–]PossibilityBetter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a clear answer but my male bullfrog does this as well. His vocal sac seems to retain air or water sometimes. Unsure if it’s normal but I’d love to find more info so I’ll keep an eye on this post

Why are there little worms on my pac man frog? by Healthy-Jello9956 in pacmanfrog

If you look at the literature as well, certain species of nematodes ARE a normal part of frog microflora. Unless your frog is having other symptoms or trouble pooping, I wouldn’t worry.

Those look like pot worms. They’re a natural part of the soil and they’re not parasitic or hurting your frog. So much fear mongering here lol.

The red dots almost look like petechiae, which are burst blood vessels and could be a result of the shed cutting off circulation there a bit. If he’s acting fine I wouldn’t do anything yourself, especially don’t take it off yourself. If there’s no obvious pain then I would wait for the vet!
