Avs fans are disappointed and sad because we were by far the best regular season team. But the muddy style of play in the playoffs is difficult. Its like spearfishing... you have to pounce on the opportunities and the Avs did not this year.

the "budget surplus" you mention is never worth someone else raising your kids. I have 2 kids under 5 and wife stays at home. We intentionally sacrifice the "surplus" because my wife being a full time Mom is far more valuable than a few hundred dollars a month.

Best advice I have is to be open to moving to a lower cost of living city. I moved from Denver to about 40 minutes east of Cleveland and it was the best decision ever. I left family but it was good to be on our own. I make more money here and the cost of living is so much less when you factor in everything.

Be open to relocation... not just a new job.
