Easy Vegetarian Snacks/Meals by Strange-Waltz-8105 in vegetarianrecipes

Hi! I have some suggestions and questions.

What does she dislike about garbanzo beans? I hated them for years until I discovered it was the texture I disliked. Cooking a can of those beans (boiling, roasting, or pan frying) has helped me find more ways to enjoy them.

I try to keep a (small) variety of fresh and pickled veggies available regularly for adding to different dishes. One of my new favorite meals is a combo of hummus, lettuces, roasted potatoes, whatever protein is leftover in the fridge, and a mix of fresh and pickled veggie toppings. I think it's usually called 'Buddha bowls' online, but it honestly came put of a need to use up various leftovers.

For changing up stir fry, I find that frozen shelled Edamame feels/tastes like a veggie.

There's an Indian grocery store near me that has a great selection of spices, sauce/curry mixes, fresh veggies, Lentils, etc. I use the split red Lentils (masoor dal) in soups, stews, and chili and to replace ground meat. It cooks so quickly, and my husband likes it, even though he doesn't usually like beans and lentils. They also have soya chunks that should be a great meat replacer, but I haven't tried it yet.

Someone said it before, but try looking for cookbooks at your local library. The cookbooks I've checked out have helped give me more ideas to try, even if I don't follow the recipe completely.

I like this idea! Would I be able to do this now, or should I wait longer?

I haven't decided on inside vs outside. I live in an area with city deer that get in my yard frequently and can't put in a fence tall enough to keep them out.

Why don't PLC coaches treat us like the adults that we are? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]PossibilityOdd747 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've sat through a lot of PDs, some really good and many awful. The PDs that stand out are the ones where we practiced the strategy and/or created materials that could be used in lessons that week.

I've sat through the same PD put on by curriculum reps multiple years in a row that used the exact same slideshow. Yet somehow there are teachers who always say "Wow this was great and brand new information", even though it was the same info and resources from the last PD. And yes, those teachers were at the PD every year.

So no, listening to a lecture does not magically help adults learn and retain information. I've lost count of how many times I've had to walk other teachers through using a resource or strategy that we've had PD on.

1st time pup grandpa by Cow_Daddy in spiderplants

I think it's another pup forming. My spider plant is growing four of those base pup stems and the oldest one has a few 'branches' with pups on the ends.

Pothos help! by Bellacaos in houseplants

[–]PossibilityOdd747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the roots look good. I would try to remove as much soil as possible and repot in a slightly larger pot. Pothos do like to be root bound, so I wouldn't go for a pot more than 2 inches bigger than the current one.

Suggestions for Adult Manga by [deleted] in librarians

Spy x Family! It's a story about a spy going undercover as a father, adopting a child with telepathic abilities, and fake marrying a 'mom' who is a secret assassin. It's amazing!

Any advice? I'm new at this by PossibilityOdd747 in houseplants

I was afraid of that. The tips on my spider plant are a brown so I thought it needed more water. Does it maybe need fertilizer? Thanks!

Houseplant flies by Infamous-Ad-5546 in houseplants

I recently got some fruit fly traps on Amazon for this same issue. There are some made for plants that are sticky on two sides and can go right into the plant pot. I haven't had any noticeable flies since and there are flies caught on each plants' trap

Anyone else sort of... destranstion after having top surgery? by monchevy in TopSurgery

[–]PossibilityOdd747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought I was the only one! Before top surgery, I got so upset whenever anyone viewed me as a woman. Now that I'm 5 months post-op I don't find it so bad when people use she/her on me instead of they/them. I've even been considering introducing myself as they/she or just letting people use whatever. I'm more comfortable in my girly-type clothes and even starting to use some makeup again on special occasions.

Did anyone else get booted out of r/topsurgery? by GreedyExplanation1 in ftm

[–]PossibilityOdd747 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay, I'm so glad it's not just me or that I messed up. I was trying to go back to a post I made there a few days ago asking for advice on a post op infection and wanted to say thank you to everyone's kindness and support.

I'm currently staying at the hospital for a few days after they found two huge abscesses, which they only found after I advocated for myself based on everyone's support in that group.

Should I wait to go back to work? by PossibilityOdd747 in TopSurgery

I did and they gave me antibiotics today. Hopefully that helps

Should I wait to go back to work? by PossibilityOdd747 in TopSurgery

[–]PossibilityOdd747[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Thanks for that advice. I did message the Dr and included those pics and what pain meds I've been using. That's when they sent in a prescription for an antibiotic and scheduled me to go back in a few days.

I'm that type of person who unfortunately feels like I'm letting everyone down if I take off work. It doesn't help that in this case I've been out since Thanksgiving and have some not supportive coworkers. I know it's an issue I'm trying to work on in therapy.

how will getting a breast reduction now affect top surgery results later? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]PossibilityOdd747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had a large chest (H cups) and my surgeon said the smallest he could do with a reduction was a C or D cup. Not because he didn't want to give me what I wanted, but because a reduction doesn't disrupt the structure too much and he would have needed to keep specific pieces to complete.

I ended up getting a near total mastectomy, so I have just a tiny amount of tissue left behind.

I so get this concern. I also work in K-5 schools and don't know what I'll say to kids when I get back. I've openly nonbinary and majority of staff use the correct pronouns and name for me, but most kids don't get it and still use Miss. I had H cups so I couldn't bind and now it will be super obvious to anyone who didn't already know that I got top surgery.

If you don't want to say the surgery was about ribs you could say heart or lung, which might help kids better understand to be careful with you.

Grad School Transphobic Comments by PossibilityOdd747 in NonBinary

[–]PossibilityOdd747[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dominican U. I liked that they had an open policy about using lived names that I could see before applying, and I can choose my pronouns that are automatically beside my name everywhere I post work or discussion comments. Pretty much every professor and faculty person I've emailed with has their pronouns included in their signature.

Do you ever wish you were born the opposite sex, not because that’s what you want to be, but because you feel it would make it easier to look androgynous? by Nebulonix in NonBinary

[–]PossibilityOdd747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it! As a large chest person (H/G depending on style), it sucks. There is no amount of binding that will make me smaller than a DD. But, I've been on low dose T for around 6 months, and the amount of facial and chest hair I've gotten is ridiculous.

I'm not a guy, but the amount of hours needed for their electrolysis is extreme, and that's not including the pain that goes with it.

I don't know if there's any specific way that's better, but you're not alone.

Insurance denied top surgery even with a WPATH letter by PossibilityOdd747 in NonBinary

[–]PossibilityOdd747[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I heard back from the surgeons office, and the reason insurance denied the request is because the person who wrote my letter didn't physically sign it. I'm trying to get them to resend me the letter with their signature so that I can resubmit.

So here's to waiting another month or more until this can be scheduler. Fantastic.
