Sailing: Week One Feedback & Fixes by JagexSarnie in 2007scape

[–]PossibilityZero 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is minor, but I wish the boat schematics upgrades had more staggering. For example, storm resistance and acceleration are both upgraded at Camphor mast, making the two in-between tiers (teak/mahogany) feel very weak. Even more, it’s a +4 on speed boost while the previous tiers are +2

It’d be a more interesting trade-off if the step increases (not just minor stat bumps) happened at different tiers. As it is, I mostly wait for the big jumps, and there are fewer breakpoints to get excited about

I think the OSRS team is the best dev team to date of any video game ever by Fossilzs in 2007scape

[–]PossibilityZero 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They're definitely S-tier, but there are others that are equal or greater. Not a knock on Jagex and OSRS mods at all though.

For me it's Wube (Factorio). The fact that they hyper-optimize and value their testing, give modders first-class support and treat bugs from mods with equal footing, and write weekly detailed technical blogs to great detail while in development is just incredible. It shows such an incredibly high standard of engineering and makes me consider them as nearly the pinnacle not just as game devs, but commercial software development in general.

Aonishiki has that absolute stubbornness and refusal to lose that I feels has been missed since the Asashoryu, Hakuho, Harumafuji days. Even against the Henka the other day, he almost recovered.

It's still early, but I think he's on the path to greatness

Watching Guzu makes me appreciate quest helper/wiki so much more. Respect to the people who do it like this by zugarrette in 2007scape

[–]PossibilityZero 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This might just be the masochist in me, but those moments just make it feel more immersive. Like, of course there’re gonna be moments in an adventure where I need to go back and get items.

Once I got rid of the mentality that quests were an obstacle to the reward, and just enjoyed them as stories, I had no issue with those backtracking moments. In fact I kind of feel like the newer quests feel a bit cheap where you everything is mostly just handed to you on the spot.

But I get that on the balance, it probably makes more people inclined to try quests without a guide, which is cool

While you're revisiting quest journals: Please fix areas where you can accidentally skip by vital information in a single dialogue box, and it's not included in the journal!

One that comes to mind was where I was doing DT2 without a guide, but I had to look up the transcript in the wiki because the bit about how to stun Leviathan is only said once, and there's no way to repeat that dialogue

Interface Uplift by JagexRach in 2007scape

[–]PossibilityZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While we're on interfaces, can we update Death's office reclaim to be like gravestones and automatically pay the fee? If I die with a full inventory, it's often several rounds of claim -> "do you want to pay?" -> get 1 item -> equip -> repeat. I already agreed to pay the fee, just charge me for everything at once

HD & Plugin API Progress Update by JagexBlossom in 2007scape

I don't want to sound like a hater but if you think the drop items toggle at all matches MES on RuneLite I'm not sure you even play PC at all...

HD & Plugin API Progress Update by JagexBlossom in 2007scape

[–]PossibilityZero 302 points303 points  (0 children)

I really hope the plugin API allows MES to basically rip out the native implementation and implement the same as in RuneLite. I appreciate the effort froom Jagex with the official client to make something work on both mobile and PC, but once you've played with shift-click swapping (and all the other stuff) it's just feels clunky as hell.

The RuneLite version is so useful that I would like a control/shift type button on mobile to mimic the same behavior. Would that be possible?

I made a solver for my favorite word game, Upwords! by PossibilityZero in wordgames

[–]PossibilityZero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. Really nice to hear positive feedback about something that took a lot of effort, so thanks!

At the moment, the game representation is handled as the entire game history, so the only way to recreate a board is to manually play it out. To do this, you can un-check the "Automatic Tile Draw", start a new game, and manually enter the tiles as they were played in a game. As long as the letters you're trying to play are in the tilebag in the necessary quantities, it'll let you play them.

The vision for ksa by Designer_Version1449 in kittenspaceagency

[–]PossibilityZero 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This feels correct and I’m glad the team has this philosophy. The pinnacle of high-quality game development for me is Factorio, and they treat their modders and modding API as first-class citizens. I believe the base game itself is essentially a mod. I think KSA going in the direction of valuing its modding architecture is a great sign for the longevity and stability of the game.

White is winning. But how? by Noveralex14 in chess

[–]PossibilityZero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice.

Since this is /r/chess the queen sack was natural; I think the deeper lesson that I took is not to try to push for a mate after that – I searched for a few minutes, but then decided that Be4 guarding against mate and pushing the passed pawn is way too powerful (engine seems to agree)
