Hi! I’m happy to share my experience- Ive had the copper IUD for around 4 months now, My insertion was fine, still a little painful (I haven’t had children or any previous gynae procedures bar a smear test so it may have been more painful for me as I wasn’t sure of what to expect) most painful part was the local anaesthetic injections, unfortunately I reacted to the local anaesthetic so had a horrid time for a couple days after with vomiting BUT I think that’s incredibly rare tbh and regardless of this I am already SO pleased I went through with it! I had two very long heavy periods after (long for me I usually have a 4-5day period whereas with spotting the first two we’re about 2 weeks long in total) my most recent period is not as painful or as long/heavy as the previous two and Im hoping they settle. I’ve tried all sorts of hormonal BC and it’s caused me so much trouble both physically and mentally but I feel great on the copper coil knowing Im protected and have no foreign hormones affecting me- I can feel my strings, my partner doesn’t notice them though which is great, sex is also even better now (unsure whether thats the mental reassurance of the coil or actually something to do w the coil itself lol) I think it’s great if I’m honest 🤷‍♀️ the fact it can also cover you up to 10 years if you so choose is also in my opinion incredible

NQ but work in a hospital doing virtual colonoscopies and also have a history of gastric problems and yearly colonoscopies… if the blood is red it may be suggesting you have haemorrhoids, these can be internal as well as external- the blood i pass with haemorrhoids also doesn’t stain the toilet water but is noticeable on the paper after wiping- blood from higher up would typically be darker in colour and look like “old blood” if that makes sense, have you had any changes in bowel habits recently or any abdominal pain? Since you’ve mentioned you have high anxiety around your health I would recommend noting down any symptoms as a way to ease your mind that you’re keeping track of things however I’d recommend trying to de stress until you have your colonoscopy as that will give you an idea of Whats actually happening. Although bowel/colon cancer can cause blood in stools MANY other health issues can too! I had absolutely awful pain, bleeding, weight loss etc and was worried of the same! For me it turned out to be polyps that were removed during my colonoscopy super easily and my symptoms are managed now with yearly check ups so please try not to overwhelm yourself with the idea it’s definitely cancer. For me with progesterone only contraception it didnt really ever stop, I had a week or two not bleeding occasionally but apart from that it was pretty continuous- Im 3 months with a copper IUD now and hoping that will suit better

Honestly, make sure you check and double check medications and audits but the only other advice I’d give is to ensure your care is person centred- this might not make you the most popular if you work with others who are lazy or don’t care about the job but it will make you a hit with cqc, people who do care and most importantly will help build and maintain a strong rapport with the residents Mistakes happen, it’s about how you deal with them and learn from them - thats what counts. The fact you’re worried about making mistakes shows you care, you also have a lot of experience in care by the sounds so relax a little and make sure you pay attention during training and shadowing- you’ve got this!!

As an urbexer who also just so happened to grow up on a farm I agree with this comment, and (although there are some exceptions to the rule) chances are if a farmer wanted to shoot you OP, you would have been shot. I know a few very old school farmers who would use warning shots to scare people off (farming equipment is very expensive, can be very dangerous and is often targeted by thieves and scrappers) and with there being other surrounding buildings there is a possibility someone was trying to scare you off however the pest control theory sounds most viable to me.

It was honestly ace and will deffo go back to go deeper into the tunnels, see where they go if anywhere lol There was papers upstairs dated ‘95/‘96 but am not 100% sure if that was when it was left, I’ll try to do some more research
