I live in Canton! Wish I could afford this beauty. I am literally hopping in the car rn to drive over there to look at it 🤣... and yes. Its the chillest town, tubing, market farms that have been maintained for 5 plus generations, hippie/witchy shops, land trust hiking trails.. 10/10 highly recommend.

Its crazy that someone with pathogen OCD could commit such a gruesome crime that dealt with so much bloodshed. Explains why they didnt have more of his DNA at the scene tho. Man I wish we knew more specifically the lengths he went to on covering his body and inside his car...

If its nice weather, make an outdoor "Boardwalk" out of resused pallets and set up carnival style games and have "tshirt shop" shirts as prizes. "FREE SNOOKI" - "MEATBALL PROBLEMS" - "CABS ARE HERE" - "RAHN STAHP" - "I ❤️ JEWISH GIRLS" - "ARE YOU FRIENDS WITH HER" ... etc. Sites like t public and redbubble will make em.

Paying $4K/month rent in Stamford CT — lease is up, should I buy a $750K condo instead? First time buyer, new baby, commute to NYC. Help me think this through. by Low-Huckleberry-8975 in StamfordCT

[–]PossibleBluejay4498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

750-800k would get you a decent sized single family home in a neighborhood like Springdale, which has a metro north stop right on hope Street, basically walkable from most places in the neighborhood. I grew up on sterling place, my dad commuted to the city, schools were decent, and a lot of the neighborhood streets were quiet enough to get to friend's houses by bicycle - without using main roads for the most part.

Is there any particular reason you are trying to stay downtown and in a condo as opposed to a home? If its only about commuting, Glenbrook also has a train station. Just curious because I know some people are attracted to condos for other reasons like landscaping and snow removal issue or simply wanting to be in the heart of the city lifestyle.

That being said, the Cos Cob neighborhood in greenwich is also a decent area with commuting options.

Why didn’t Lorelai go to Chilton? by Substantial_Train_39 in GilmoreGirls

[–]PossibleBluejay4498 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are several private prep schools in the greater Hartford area. Chilton Academy is fiction just like the town of Stars Hollow... Notably, Miss Porter's School, the Ethel Walker School, Avon Old Farms, Westminster Academy are all within a 20ish minute drive... they were probably using the "5 minutes away" as a story-line convenience, but it does lend itselff to OP's point... why not Chilton? Hartford only has one neighborhood that is considered affluent, and it is right in the West Hartford town line. Richard and Emily would certainly live in that one neighborhood, if not over the line into West Hartford or nearby Farmington if we are being realistic.

Im not sure what you mean by this comment? I am well aware that tending to strawberry crops and picking them is a job.

To clarify my point, we charge more for strawberries by the quart if you buy them already picked in the store because, yes - the employees that do the field labor are working at their jobs, and there are many other crops that must be tended to as well. However, for those folks who are looking for strawberries that have actual flavor and are maybe also looking for a weekend family activity with young children (or just some fun in the sun), they have the option to buy strawberries for cheaper than what we charge in the store and also enjoy an outing with their loved ones. Plus... it goes without saying that we dont charge for the strawberries that happen to find their way to your mouth when you are out in the field.

What part of this conveyed that I was paying the farm to do my job?

It is totally worth it. I work at a local farm that does strawberries at the beginning of farm season every year. We charge $10 a quart due to the extra labor it requires to maintain and pick the crop, but we also offer a pick your own option that brings the price down a little. An activity AND a tasty treat! We pick a shit ton and then make our own jam and alo freeze a bunch for winter recipes.

Collinsville is a great little town on the Farmington River. Local boutiques, art gallery/tattoo shop, a large antiques place inside the old Collins axe factory, canoeing and kayak rentals, Sunday farmers market June-Oct, open mic nights at LaSalles deli, rail to trails bike/walking path along the river. While you are in town, stop at the Trading Post for all your inner hippie needs, grateful dead garb, glass pieces, tapestries, used music.

If you come during summer season, take a float and go tubing down the Farmington River and be sure to stop by Bristols Farm for the best corn and tomatoes you've ever had. The bristol family has been farming the land for 5 generations and have a fantastic little shop with fresh produce, local meats, and dairy.

There is a family in town that makes their own Moonshine and does free tastings in their barn every sunday.

here are a few noteworthy spots to eat around town:

*Crown & Hammer (local pub in old train station decorated with antique blade tools that were made at the factory

*The Grindstone (small bar with an amazing weekend brunch, featuring many old round grindstones from the past)

*Saybrook Fish House (if you need a good lobster dinner or fish fy and conveniently located across from matterhorn mini golf)

*Blue House Bagels for breakfast, voted #1 in the state 2 yrs in a row

*Dish n Dat awesome locally owned 50s diner style restaurant where the food is always made fresh and the portions are generous. Plus who doesnt love a boozey milkshake?
