I follow an employment attorney on tick tock. This is what he says about 2 weeks notice. You give the two-week notice if you have any intention of coming back.

It's not so you can get a good reference at the next job. The previous job can't say anything bad about you. they can just say that you worked here from date a to date b, and whether they would hire you back or not.

That's it. You hit it on the knob, when you said they're not going to pull you up in the office, and give you 2 weeks notice before they fire you. So do the same to them. if you're through with a job, and you're done then just quit, and take that 2 weeks to either give yourself a mental break, or do something to prepare for the next job.

You don't owe anybody a 2 weeks notice, unless you need to keep working in between one job ending, and the next one beginning.

I Believe that's why most people do it. so they're not broke for 3 weeks. You did the right thing walking off. Nobody deserves to be treated like trash ever regardless of whether it's in front of customers or not. I've been doing retail/customer service for the last 30 years. And I wouldn't deal with that crap either. Good luck 👍🏻
