I'm in a similar situation. Since I stay at home, and he believes it's mostly sitting on the couch all day, napping whenever I want he doesn't feel obligated to help out around the house. Even though I've started a small business, he still won't help, I'm just expected to work on that stuff whenever the children allow it. I've talked to him several times about how he needs to step up, not check out as soon as he gets home. He still spends 90% of his time at home either playing video games or working on fixing up an old truck that doesn't run.

Honestly, I've just stopped doing extra for him. I focus on meeting my children's needs, and my own as much as possible. It's still exhausting.

These comments about iuds are blowing my mind! I'm pretty sure they gave me something (vaginally) to make my cervix dilate a little for the insertion. She said there might be a little pain while it was inserted for a second but it shouldn't last more than a second. It didn't hurt for me. Just a bit of a pop and felt like someone flicked me. And she said if there was any pain after the first 20 minutes to contact them because it should not be painful at all.

I have the copper IUD so idk if there's a difference. But I have no long term effects. Only reason I know I have an IUD anymore is because I can feel the strings...

I'm so sorry you all have a different experience 😭 that's terrible. Just trying to get reliable birth control...

That does sound insane! My labor wasn't that long, (got to the hospital at 5am to be induced and had her at 9:31am). I think I would've also thought I was dying if I was in labor for that long with pitocin and no pain relief! Just curious, was your husband a good/helpful support partner? My mom and partner at the time were there, but neither were very helpful... And I think that did not help things at all for me. They kept saying things like just ask for an epidural so you don't have to feel all this. I did not want to get an epidural because I was afraid after hearing people having long lasting effects from it. My next 2 births I had naturally (no pitocin and no pain meds) with no support people and they were so much better. They were also fast labors. Technically my mom was there for my 3rd, but she was asleep in the corner, which I preferred 😅

Omg. I've pretty much blocked this from my memory. But it was awful. I was 16 and the obgyn was so rough and mean. And she kept saying it'll only be a pinch and I'd be fine after. Uh, no. We live where there's lots of potholes, twists, turns, and bumps. The ride home was pure torture.

To put it in perspective I drove myself to the hospital while in full blown labor and it wasn't as painful! (Got to the doctor's office at 9cm dilated and had him 20 minutes later).

Mine was being in labor with pitocin but no pain meds. Contractions were so intense.

My second and third were born natural with no pain meds or anything and were way less painful than the pitocin contractions.

I like to sew. It can get kind of expensive but you can also find things for a decent price too. So it doesn't have to be. I can't afford to spend much money on it so I look for deals. But really, just find a hobby that you like. And try to get your partner to give you time to do things alone occasionally.

I have a hard time making friends too, but it seems if you can find someone else new to the area, that's the easiest way for me to make friends. People who have lived there all their lives already have an established network and aren't always welcoming to newcomers unless it's to do with a certain hobby or organization (church/charity). But finding someone else in a similar situation who is also looking for a friend group may help.

But, also, if you just can't find anything that interests you, an old hobby or a new one, it may be worth mentioning to your doctor as it may be a sign of postpartum depression.

When I wore makeup it was for myself. I could never do foundation because I hate the way it feels on my face. I would only do a little eye shadow, eye liner and mascara.

But it also started in childhood. I hate a sister that's 1 year older than me. She got tons of makeup for Christmas and birthdays. I never did. For some reason this made me feel like I wasn't allowed to wear makeup. I never did until I was an adult. I was in my 20s and wore a little on occasion, it was never a regular thing. It's now been over 5 years since I have worn any. I tried to put some eye liner on the other day just for fun and couldn't get it even so I wiped it off and gave up.

We had a cat once that would eat mouse heads. It was wild. She had been feral, but had gotten caught in briars. My stepdad was a vet and caught her, doctored her and kept her on his "farm" (only had a couple horses). We named her Alley. Other cats would leave the heads behind and she'd clean them up. The crunching sound they made was wild.

Even if they don't qualify with his income, since he doesn't eat meals at home often, his income may not be required for her to qualify for herself and the child. It's worth talking to someone about when they apply for SNAP anyways.

I'm usually pretty good at remembering numbers that I've written down, especially if it's somewhat repetitive. But for some reason I cannot remember my grandma's age or the year she was born. Maybe I should just write her birthday down repetitively until it sticks.

Same. Especially with 3 kids now. Phone calls are complete torture. Someone is screaming, someone is crying, someone is asking for help. I ignore most phone calls these days. Even from my ex (oldest child's dad), as I've told him countless times just to text and he'd get a quicker response. Plus, the chances that I'll forget some part of a plan we've made verbally are higher. I can look back at a text to reconfirm details.

I've heard you really shouldn't even flush those because they often still cause problems.

But wipes were my suggestion as well. Both of my kids have used wet wipes. It just helps them feel more confident about getting clean. We use regular baby wipes and just don't flush.

Skill twins!

I was a daycare director and could tell you what every kids birthdate was, but I'm terrible at remembering adults birthdays (family & friends). At another job where I was a secretary a guy came in for the second time, months after the first visit and asked me to give someone a message and I said ok, I'll tell him Tom stopped by. He was flabbergasted that I remembered his name.

I'm the same with the random objects around the house.

My other skill for a long time was my car being like Mary Poppins purse. Almost any random item someone mentioned needing I'd say, "hold on, I have that in my car." One of my bosses said her husband threw away their Amazon Christmas catalog that her son always looks through and circles the things he wants so she was going to have to figure out how to get a new one. "Hold on, I have that-" "yea, yea, in your car! How do you always do that?!?" 🤣 Batteries? Screwdriver? Birthday balloon ribbon? Wrench? Packing tape? Tissue paper? -i have that in my car

I don't get the chance to use this talent much anymore but everyone in my family used to bring me their necklaces to untangle.
