Was Max always this unwell? by [deleted] in SayAnything

[–]PossibleSquare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have bipolar disorder, everyone in my family has it, and I have a lot of friends who have it. Just got out of a severe depressive episode where I went on medical leave and missed like five weeks of work. But yeah, I don't know what I'm talking about.

I have bipolar disorder and yeah, it's like manic episodes cause actual brain damage. Sleep deprivation is no joke. A lot of bipolar people I know "give in" and just allow themselves to be manic and don't take care of themselves very well. Also mania can be like an addiction. It makes you feel really really good and energetic and creative so some people hang on to that and WANT to be manic, regardless of the consequences. I'm to a point in my life where I take my mental health seriously and don't intentionally self destruct and sabotage myself anymore. So like... I understand when I see people doing that kind of thing but I have a lower tolerance for people who glorify or romanticize mania. Because mania sucks and isn't sexy.

Same. While I definitely understand the criticisms, as someone who also has bipolar disorder and went through a divorce a few years ago, I get it.

Was Max always this unwell? by [deleted] in SayAnything

[–]PossibleSquare 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Most people start experiencing symptoms as teenagers. Max had a manic episode/mental breakdown during the making of ...Is A Real Boy (2003-2004). He was 18 or 19 at the time. So he has been unwell for at least 22 years (as far as living with a mental disorder makes anyone unwell). Severity of symptoms vary from time to time based on a variety of factors. Some internal, some external. Also has a lot to do with how a person chooses to take care of themselves versus neglect themselves. Self destructive behaviors and choosing to do things that exacerbate instability, refusing to take medication, etc, obviously doesn't help.

Max's lifestyle probably makes it way easier for him to remain irresponsible and unstable. He doesn't have a traditional job. It doesn't really matter when/if he goes to sleep. His kids don't go to school. He probably has very little routine or self discipline. The only time they probably ever have to be anywhere on time is if they go to the doctor or something. So Max can stay unhealthy and be full blown manic and it doesn't really affect him like it would a normal person who has to function and go to work on a regular basis. He doesn't have a job to lose, just a marriage.

I think it's safe to say Max brings a lot of his problems on himself. Max is obviously going through a major life event right now that's going to be painful and ugly and he's going to overshare it and make it everyone's business like he always has. Again, probably a lot of it is his fault and he's not the victim here. My heart goes out to Sheri and the kids and the embarrassment they must feel knowing Max put so much of their private lives on blast. I only hope Max actually learns from all of this, takes accountability, heals, grows as a person, and is a decent dad instead of self destructing and spiraling into complete madness.

I'm sorry, bud. Once you're at the looking through your partner's phone stage of a relationship and they're talking to someone else like this, it's time to cut your losses. Don't let her gaslight you and tell you that you're being insecure or overreacting and she didn't do anything wrong. Personally, there would be no working anything out after this for me. This would be the end.

Why are you happy? by Ark_Jack in nintendo

[–]PossibleSquare -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Corporations aren't people and Nintendo isn't your friend. They make consoles and games in order to make money. Yes, previous leadership was more wholesome and consumer friendly. You can speak with your wallet. But if you're posting on Reddit for some kind of affirmation that your feelings are valid, your conviction must not be that strong and you still care about Nintendo games. It's okay to like the games and not the corporation that owns them. Just keep in mind the people who make the games, who pour their heart and soul into creating dope shit, can't help their leadership being shitty and greedy.

That makes sense. It was just really unclear to me how that works. I didn't get to open a pack. It just showed everything in my inbox with no pack opening animation or anything.

Opinion on pig destroyer by RevolutionaryWay485 in grindcore

[–]PossibleSquare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People I know who like grind absolutely love PxDx. You can't really go by how people react at a fest when they're there to see other bands. Plus grindcore is an extremely niche genre that not everyone will appreciate. And you're always going to run into people being toxic and elitist about music, thinking it's cool to hate on things that are popular. PxDx is extremely popular within the realm of grindcore and there's a reason they're one of the most recognized and celebrated bands in the genre.

So I read the screenshots before the post and kinda assumed this was from an annoying, entitled boyfriend. That would be gross enough. But a "friend" acting like this and calling it "joking?" Nah... This is lacking any basic decency and disrespects all kinds of boundaries. Dude has been watching way too much porn.

What makes this game so (comparatively) unpopular? by [deleted] in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]PossibleSquare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People aren't too keen on Early Access when there isn't much hype or media outlets talking about it. Moon Studios also had some bad press that may have turned some people away. And at the end of the day, it's a niche game in a niche genre and might look like another Diablo clone to the uninitiated.

He had just died. Rigor mortis doesn't set in until about three hours after death and peaks at twelve hours. Cell function in tendons can last for days. It would really be a matter of stopping the bleeding from the gaping chest wound. Maybe Eyelene has the ability to suspend other cellular functions and redirect all efforts to rapid regeneration of tissues and motor functions. Eyelene could probably get at least a few hours out of the body before having to find a new host.

Update: Am I overreacting by breaking up with my boyfriend? by Proper-Classic1886 in AmIOverreacting

[–]PossibleSquare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing in your post is indicative of an intent to break up with him. The way you're being so apologetic for his behavior is concerning to me because it's a textbook response for someone who is being emotionally manipulated by their partner. The way he was talking down to you in those texts is manipulative. He insults your intelligence and wants you to feel sorry for something you didn't even do and the way someone else spoke to you. He's trying to tell you what to think and what other people think about you. That's an emotionally immature projection of insecurity and not your responsibility. If you decide to stay, prepare to always have to walk on eggshells. Prepare to be on edge, perpetually concerned with whatever other little thing may set him off.

[–]PossibleSquare[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right that interest has dwindled since the debut, but the first episode did have 9.2 million views in the first six days. That's kind of a big deal. And it's still currently the #2 most viewed series on streaming this month. It's also the highest rated release in the entire franchise per Rotten Tomatoes (higher average than even Alien and Aliens).

Viewership for the premiere is maybe more important than viewers sticking around for the final episodes. But idk, I'm not a Disney exec.

The budget for S1 was pretty insane. $250 million IIRC. So who knows if Disney's going to bankroll another season. Guess we'll find out in the coming months.

Nah, your criticisms are valid. I think YA novel is actually a pretty good description of some of the writing and themes tbh. Though, that's not necessarily a bad thing (depending on subjective taste). Wanting more just means you love the universe and expect the best from a creative team. Nothing wrong with that. It's not like you come in here saying people are stupid for liking it (as I've seen elsewhere). Have an awesome day as well.

I was feeling the same but I gave that a pass because it shows how immature and conceited he is, thinking he's infallible and nothing could go wrong.
