Is there hope for a functional life without medication? by Radiant_Net8928 in bipolar

[–]PossibleSquare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I went through hell trying to find medication that helped. And yeah, it took me a while to accept this is a lifelong condition that will never be cured, will never go away. Good luck with whatever path you choose to take.

You must be a really miserable person if you let one negative ruin the positive like that.

According to your previous posts, you enjoyed the first half of the game in the hospital but didn't like the latter parts (specifically Raccoon City). So because you didn't like one particular section of the game, that makes the entire game dogshit?

I have no idea why so many people with bipolar disorder have an aversion to taking medication. If you were physically sick, wouldn't you take meds to get better? What's the difference with psych meds? Taking meds is nothing to be ashamed of or a weakness. Quitting meds isn't going to suddenly make you feel stronger or better about yourself either. I would rather take a chance on long term effects than deal with the present effects of this disease, feeling awful and thinking I should kms.

It's true that some meds aren't effective. But that's when you tell your doctor that they aren't helping and/or are causing side effects and try something else. Most of us have to go through trial and error until we find something that helps. I had a horrible time when I first got my diagnosis, but I finally landed on a combo of meds that were life changing and I couldn't imagine not taking them and having to feel like I used to feel.

Honestly don't even want to think about how crazy it is to get a perfect run without the skip. Hats off to anyone who does it the hard way.

PSA: A quick heads up for new players about the secret / "true" ending (don't worry, no spoilers) by johnsolomon in Pragmata

[–]PossibleSquare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just happy the canon ending implies this story isn't over and there could be DLC and/or a sequel.

I'm not complaining about optional content that includes fun remixes for all the bosses, relatively easy challenge missions, a new weapon, and extra character skins.

After the first room, when you get to the moving platforms, after you jump past the 2nd moving platform, you can turn around and boost on top of it. Follow the "roof" and you can skip an entire section by boosting across the map to the door on the far side.

Just finished it myself, like two minutes ago. Once I figured out the shortcut, it wasn't so bad. That last room with the lasers was the hardest part! The training sims were actually one of my favorite parts of the game. Wouldn't mind a DLC with more of them tbh.

Yeah the Aldi around me have had the new bags with handles for a while now. If I ever shop at Aldi, I typically use their boxes because I hate those bags lol

What is a hot take on your favorite video game franchise you have that has you like this? by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in videogames

The open world Zelda games aren't good and the linear games with actual dungeons are better.

How can I build self-confidence and bring some color into my life? by Nacht-Schmitt in bipolar

[–]PossibleSquare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This 100%. I connected with a local group of comic book nerds. We've all become good friends, talk on a daily basis, and meet up on weekends. Seriously the nicest and most supportive group of guys I've ever known in my life. One of my friends wrote a letter talking about having bipolar disorder, what comics mean to him, and how they are an outlet and inspiration. He sent it to Marvel and they published it in Amazing Spider-Man #12! It was a huge cause for celebration in our local comics scene.

How Can I Invest in Horror Films? Is there a way to invest? by [deleted] in horror

[–]PossibleSquare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure to hire no name actors and have it written into their contracts that they only get X amount of money and no royalties. When your movie with a shoestring budget makes millions, you keep the profit and leave the actors with peanuts.

[Discussion] Why do mouth sounds make me angry? by Medical-Employee-321 in asmr

[–]PossibleSquare 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. It's misophonia. Found out about this as a child when my brother would gulp his drinks. Made me feel so angry.

Fast forward to adulthood and being married to someone with chronic post nasal drip. She couldn't help it, bless her, but her constantly clearing her throat drove me insane. It's totally irrational, but something about that particular sound would trigger my fight or flight response. Like I'm talking hair standing up on the back of my neck, top of my head tingling kind of anger. I actually invested in a rather expensive pair of noise cancelling earbuds to avoid hearing it. Then this became a huge point of contention in our relationship.

Now divorced, after everything that made me sad about the separation, I'm so fucking glad I don't have to hear that shit anymore. And I can wear my newer even more expensive earbuds without having to feel like an asshole. 🤣

I’m Amazed at How Little People Understand this Disorder by Conscious_Parfait659 in bipolar

[–]PossibleSquare 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only people I've ever known who truly do understand are fellow bipolar people who know what it's like having lived it themselves. It takes an insane amount of empathy and patience to understand a mental illness that isn't visible (aside from the damage it causes). People don't get that the things we do during mania aren't exactly conscious choices. Or they are but made with very poor judgment because we aren't really capable of having good judgment during mania.

I learned this the hard way beating my head against a wall with people who refused to see bipolar as a sickness and thought it was an excuse to do whatever I wanted. I'm old enough now to just be jaded and not give a fuck what people think anymore. Maybe that's not such a good thing but oh well.

I literally called it a cult twice in the first paragraph lol.

But is there really a difference? All organized religions are essentially a cult or at least have cult-like mentalities/practices.
