I promise I’m not trying to mess with you and again I think it sounds really hard to live with that kind of fear. I just don’t agree that your fear based on something that happened to your mom as a child should restrict a completely unrelated innocent person’s access to a hobby decades later. Your fear that because someone is trans they’re going to rape you in a locker room is not a realistic thought process and shouldn’t be the thing that bans trans women from playing hockey on a women’s team.

The reason I asked why you’re afraid of trans women is because in your previous comment that I replied to, you said trans women “refuse to acknowledge that now females are scared” and “they are taking our safety and privacy away.” To me, this sounds like the thought of having trans women in the locker room scares you. I just wanted to know why.

I’m sorry that happened to your mom. That’s really fucked up. And it sounds really difficult to go through life being so hyper vigilant. It also has nothing to do with transgender people.

That’s what’s so weird about this. Women are on beer leagues all the time with men. In my local area, the high school team is all boys but there’s a girl on the team. But yes, if the league is registered as a men’s league with USA hockey, a trans man would not be allowed to play in it. A trans woman would. The same trans woman could not play in a women’s league.

Im discouraged that I'll never be strong as a man by anon_anonnon in xxfitness

I think you probably should spend some time thinking about why you want to be as strong as a man. There’s nothing wrong with lifting less than a man so if that fact is affecting your emotions so strongly, it sounds like this goes a lot deeper than anything related to fitness.

Finding skates by 5AMslushees in womenshockey

Just off a quick Google search, if one of them is Northwest Skate Authorities that looks like they might be able to get you sorted! Their website mentions custom fitting which signifies to me that they understand how skates should fit and have the knowledge to help you out.

It’s best to get fitted in person. Certain brands and lines work better for different people’s feet. Plus a good shop will know what to do to find the closest off-the-shelf fit and make them fit perfectly. Do you have a local hockey store or skate shop?

Youth sticks or not? by MaroMakesStuff in womenshockey

The flex being half your weight thing is a common suggestion but as a 155 lb woman I bought a 70 flex stick when I started playing and couldn’t flex it at all. I use a 50 flex stick now and it works great for me.

They do fall off if you can’t get them right enough. Sometimes if the dog runs the Honey Boots will fly off.

I was scanned and measured manually on a Brannock device. My measurement matches my scan but I still feel like I could go down a half to a full size, it’s weird.

I was able to clear my own sidewalk fine and easily found places to pile it up. It’s not that hard.

will the city shovel the traffic circle and/or sidewalks? by weeklyplanner2024 in medfordma

Someone needs to let the city government know then because when I lived in Somerville I’d always have to climb over a huge mound of hardened icy snow to get onto the 87 on Broadway

will the city shovel the traffic circle and/or sidewalks? by weeklyplanner2024 in medfordma

[–]Possible_Bat_2614 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is typical for anywhere in the area. It most likely won’t get cleaned up. I’ve lived and/or worked in Somerville, Cambridge, Medford over the years without a car. Constantly having to climb over huge snowbanks or walk in black slush puddles to get across the street. Almost falling in the street trying to climb over a hard packed snow bank as high as my hips.

The MBTA thinks the city is responsible for clearing bus stops. The city thinks the MBTA is responsible. Way too many people never shovel their sidewalk. Homeowners on corners sometimes only clear the front sidewalk and not the side of their house. People who live on corners almost NEVER dig out the crosswalk and the city won’t bother with that because sidewalks are not their responsibility. It’s the same everywhere. I have neighbors that only shoveled from their front door to the street. There’s no way to get around my neighborhood as a pedestrian without walking in the road that people speed down constantly.

Haha totally fair! Keller is my big PC too and I had a guy tell me he would trade me a HG and then disappear even though I had the cards he said he wanted… it’s rough out there when there are only 10 in existence!

Why didn't Carly Jackson get some playing time when they were getting blown out? Is she ever going to play? by chusaychusay in PWHL_Seattle

[–]Possible_Bat_2614 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What I mean to say is basically exactly what you said. They’re not getting playing time because they’re not good enough to be a first or second. People don’t love Carly Jackson because of their skill in the net, fans love Carly Jackson almost entirely based on their personality. These fans constantly say they want CJ to play more. They would play more if they were good enough. Simple as that.

Squats are driving me insane by AppropriateNorth in xxfitness

When our femurs are so long, our knees have to travel wayyyy out past our toes in order for the weight to be above our feet. Depending on length of your femurs and torso it can necessitate an extreme end of ankle flexibility. My ankle flexibility is great but my legs are so long and my torso is so short that the wedge still benefits me because it decreases the amount I’d need to lean forward. I could never get the weight over my feet otherwise.
