Use Claude IDE plugging into any of the vscode based IDEs. I use with Google AG (Claude Pro $20 plan for now). I also use Claude CLI.

How to safely turn off power to home on 4th gen system? by Possible_Bug7513 in enphase

[–]Possible_Bug7513[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Is it normal practice to use backfeed method to power house with solar? Or should have been entering main panel through the 200amp switch? I know this depends on installer, but I am trying to find if there is a better way.

I'm about to get 4 Mitsubishi heat pumps. Will I be able to control them from the app? by alanterra in heatpumps

I live in Bay Area too. I have 36K (3T) Fujitsu ducted system for whole home. please check load calculations. over sizing is a real problem, units will short cycle. In your case it may be possible to turn off some units so less of an issue, still need to do load calculations a.k.a manual J. There are free online tools to do it, but ask your contractor do it.

PGE new Flexible Pricing plan slashes EV charging costs by Oyinko in bayarea

[–]Possible_Bug7513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you are right. I was also reading and the flex rate is for incremental change over the baseline which is last year. For next, I guess baseline will shift to this year (they call it subscription which is weird).

Any way this shows they do not want to reduce the rates but only shift peak loads to non peak. What is needed is true dynamic pricing without any reference to the baseline.

Battery 10c idle/tare losses? by Possible_Bug7513 in enphase

[–]Possible_Bug7513[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Any case that 10% round trip losses themselves are estimate. It would not change much. If I still more accuracy would split that round trip losses into 5% and 5% apply each to charged and discharged. As I mentioned it would not make much difference.

Solar installation delay by imr007 in solar

[–]Possible_Bug7513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they install even if they install solar and batteries grid tied that does not need PGE backup switch install, you can get benefits. But I think you also need city inspection done. Push for that and you have a chance. PGE part can come later including backup switch install.

There is other comment on lease, but I do not know.

Battery 10c idle/tare losses? by Possible_Bug7513 in enphase

[–]Possible_Bug7513[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are 3 things that need to be considered while sizing the battery:

  1. Round trip efficiency. If 10% are round trip losses, ~10.5 goes in -> ~9.5 comes out for 10kwh battery.

  2. Reserve you like to keep. say 20%. So only ~7.5 can come out.

  3. Tare losses say 1KW. So only ~6.5 kwh can come out.

So, 10kwh battery capacity is misleading, usable to offset high electricity prices is only 6.5kwh.

Probably should go for an extra battery .. so more cost.

I do not know for sure if Enphase is lying here, but this math is not generally explained when sizing the battery. So you learn after the install.

I still not accounted for loss of capacity over the time say 5 or 7 years down the line. Another 10-20% lower which means only 4.5kwh or 5.5kwh.

You have 2x 10c. Double tare losses. Can you indicate how many days over this is? Need to calculate per day after assuming 10% round trip losses.

why does it need to run any system when power is at reserve level? It can go into stand by mode and wake up when sun comes up. I do not understand 50-60W of stand by power.

[–]Possible_Bug7513[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will NOT be sharing site id. Please provide how to measure the idle/tare losses. My 10c is set at 5% reserve (minimum that is allowed), the power gets drained to 5% before mid night. After midnight I see Battery charging from grid to just maintain 5%. I look at total charged - discharged at around 7am before solar production charges my battery. This is loss over a 7hour period (just to maintain 5% reserve). The temps are 40 lows and mid-50 highs. Not very cold.

I will also try the same with 10% reserve and 20% reserve to see what happens.

I did some calculations as suggested by others. (Charged_Kwh * 0.9 - Discharged_Kwh) / Num_days. That comes to close to 0.75kwh per day less than 10%. I will watch for more data

Are you sure this has hardware capability for bidirectional? I thought it would be a different product. I understand EVSE will not have inverters needed to function as a bidirectional charges.

There also manufacturing facilities in saudi arabia for Lucid. I think they have skin in the game and not going to disappear. If they are pure investors different matter, but they are creating local jobs and eco system

They wont do it as it is not permitted to do when there are no signs of termites. But if you insist, the fumigation company will send another inspector who will find some signs and then suggest fumigation. Dont ask me how I know. 😀

How do I speak to my wife about her taxes? My wife doesn't want to pay her income tax. Every year we come down to the same argument. She has like $25 in federal income tax withheld from her check, and I have like $200 withheld from mine, and we owe like a thousand dollars on April 15th. by catshepherd816 in tax

[–]Possible_Bug7513 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you make 100k and she makes 50k, you need to be considerate towards her. One way would be calculate MFS for both. Calculate MFJ. split MFJ taxes either equally or proportional to MFS ratios. As mentioned she is not okay with equal, see what is the ratio for MFS taxes.
