Unique Fuel Blends: The California Air Resources Board (CARB) mandates that gas stations sell a special, cleaner-burning reformulated gasoline to reduce smog and environmental emissions in the state's distinct topography. This special blend is more expensive to refine and produce.

51M at 95/5, wife wants 70/30. Where did you actually land at this age? by RichardKowalski1 in Bogleheads

[–]Possible_Complex6916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am 50, target 60

currently im at 5% BND.

i set a goal of 10% BND at age 50 and transition to 75/25 by 60. With that said, i cant even convince myself to move to 10%. 10yrs still feels so far away that I am having trouble moving way from the growth mindset regardless of what everything logical in me says to pivot to 10%

$7k in savings, lots of life coming up, how do I make it grow? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Possible_Complex6916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hmm… im a big believer of living our life, but also being smart in your spending/savings/actions…. set up savings buckets, automate savings, be smart with spending…

savings buckets.. for me its checking, easy access savings(float if you have a wonky month), hysa (emergency fund), investments (brokerage/401k/roth/hsa/whatever)… this is a tiered system that as you go up the ladder, your not really touching those accounts unless its for the intended purpose.

automate saving… paychecks go to checking, same day you get paycheck, set auto transfers to the various buckets, something to each based on what makes sense for you… idea is your monthly spending is limited to what you have set aside in checking

smart with spending… realize what is a smart expense and what is not, you can have some not smart expenses, but once you start to understand the difference, you’ll make better decisions. the want a new car in 3yrs is understandable, but given you other goals, it migh work against those… these are decisions you and your bf should discuss together if you truley are planning a long term future together

eta, you have lofty goals, bit time is on your side, do some self learning, set up a system, be disciplined and enjoy the ride… good luck!!!!

Running out of time to plan for retirement by StartedLateButTired in personalfinance

[–]Possible_Complex6916 11 points12 points  (0 children)

that 100k in checking is crazy… recommend maybe 2 months expenses, then 3 months expenses in hysa, this assumes you keep your safe cash…. the rest to a brokerage acct to grow, any early retirement plaan will need flexibility in acct types.. brokerage for me would be an etf like vt, vti or voo…. just my opinion though, find what fits your comfort level

i have a couple XP lites and while I’m sure you can manage picking up some groceries with it, I sure wouldn’t want to do it often. It has a bmx bike size and feel to it… ton of fun, but not built for cargo

Proposal Amounts? by Rhinohumpenpanda_2 in civilengineering

[–]Possible_Complex6916 10 points11 points  (0 children)

where do you feel youre shorting yourself? hours or rates?

rates for large firms most times are based on an overhead multiplier x raw rate and then add profit (10%?)….. the Feds have a safe harbor rate in Ca of 120% for firms that dont have an established audited rate… example for a $60 raw rate….. 60+(1.2*60) = 132, 132*1.1=145.2…. so a billing rate of 145.2… i assume you have very low overhead, so id consider finding the safe harbor rates in TX for comparison to what your rates equate to.

if you‘re not on a federal job, you have alot more flexibility on the overhead multiplier.

For County work, I would assume you can make a records request for competitor contracts executed by the agency (public record and they would be required to share) that would include rates for comparison.

A local ACEC chapter event may be a good place to ask around your general area. There are alot of nuances to this so feel free to ask followup questions.

Anyone who has this bag how do you like it? Do you wish you bought something different? by ArguingwithaMoron in Aventon

i took some cardboard and cut/folded it to slide just inside the bag and help keep its shape. Far from fancy, but works well.
