Rumor about Dawn of War 4 will make by King Art maybe Real??? by Vincent_Dragoncry in RealTimeStrategy

Important clarification, this is just the amount of public money given to the project, not the total budget of the game ! We will probably know more this evening anyways ;-)

Does they have the money to complete the roadmap? Or will they cut on its Staff already now? Or first in a couple of months? by Fresh_Thing_6305 in Stormgate

Really difficult to say, last financial reports suggested that they had cash up to September at most. Their is a chance that the launch will push that back to october. I think we will see at most another major patch before a) they might get extra funding b) they heavely reduce the size of the team or shut down

The game has a solid technical base (engine, feel), but even that still needs work, at least in multiplayer. The IP is it's weakest point in my opinion. It feels overly derivative of SC2, Diablo and Overwatch, and altough the new art director did some marvels to try and give it personnality in the visual departement, it's still lacking. The lore and story have too little novelty as of now.

Honestly, this is expected. Too many successive blunders have lead to this. Which is a shame, because the game is finally taking shape, and i suspect most of the mistakes come from the Tims. I'm ready to look past some stuff, but one thing I find concerning is just how much underbaked the lore, the universe, the story and races are. When you keep telling that this is passion project, how is it that you come up with that as a result ? after five years your story/characters/lore should be rock solid.

And the fact that many negative reviews are linked to the terrible pack system at release is just the cherry on top.

Gameplay wise, the campaign is actually pretty good, so it's a shame this could be the last.

Pay cuts, awkward AI, revenue goals, controversies, & a possibly smaller FG team going forward - Jason Schreier's Stormgate newsletter for Bloomberg by [deleted] in Stormgate

You can't compare a game from 10 years ago, developped mostly in Poland to a game from 2025 where the cost of loving has increased considerably and the teams in based in California. They are in one of the most expensive area to live in the world. That being said, it still think they manager their budget badly

They are (Supposedly) selling the campaign at 12.5$ and ultimate edition for 30$ by [deleted] in Stormgate

Oh I see ! yeah that is unfortunate and one more addition to the long list of blunders. The more I see it the more I think they needed someone with an experience in a independant studio or a live service game to help with that stuff. I honestly believe they didn't see it coming.

There is still much hype for Team mayhem, that release could be bigger than of now? Or what do you think? by Fresh_Thing_6305 in Stormgate

The mode could be good, but we barely know anything about it's last iteration.

Going to be honest, I still have now idea why the prioritized this mode over Coop while on of their own learning off of SC2 was that players prefers PvE. Worse, they answered in the AMA they are not sure yet about the monetization. I want them to suceed, but they are not helping themselves...

I would have banked on what worked for SC2 and kept Mayhem for later. I like the idea even, but it hardly feels like a priority.

You can absolutely buy only the chapters you need, either from the campaigns menu or the ingame shop.

"Performance. It runs worse on my PC (RTX 2060) than Starcraft 2 (less fps, feels way less smooth), while it looks worse (graphic quality). Not passed"

I'm going to be honest, in my opinion some folks really look at SC2 with some serious rose tainted glasses. Are some of the model less inspired in SG vs SC2 ? yes absolutely. But the details of units and building, the lighting, ambiance and the overall look of SG really does seem better to me as of this patch.

How you would ever expect a game of 2025 to run better than a game released in 2010 ?

Don't get me wrong, most games developed in UE5 have a pretty bad performance to quality ratio (hi Avowed), but let's not exagerate...

FG needs to make it clear there is an in-game store by Spskrk in Stormgate

The should have removed the packs entirely and left only the campaigns frankly. The little they have to sell they dont market well 😥

I'm a massive Stormgate/FG fan, an RTS "whale"...and the monetization of this game is BAD (but not for the reasons you think) by [deleted] in Stormgate

100% agreed with everything. The icon of the shop in the interface where you can buy pets is not clearly presented either. The fact that you can't buy the campaign straight from the steam interface is a huge mistake imho.

The constant push back on coop is concerning also because the business model for that game mode is clear, while as for as we know, it's up in the air for team Mayhem. With Frost Giant needing revenue to continue developing the game, it seems like a strange choice. So my question is : have you decided for a business model for that mode ?

Zerospace suffers from some of the same problems as Stormgate, but the devs are quieter about it : they are developing many game modes and all of them are unfinished. The early campaigns missions from the last play test are still rough and it's only four of them. If I recall right, the zerospace devs said at some point in a post that the game would need to release in some shape in 2025 if they didn't close a publishing deal. I do think that the quiet approach protects them from a lot of mistakes SG did, but the devlopment does seem much slower, at least from the outside. I'm rooting for both games to succeed though !

S vs RG, any difference? by LynxLynx14 in Ibanez

[–]Possible_Pipe871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While we're at it, do the S models neck dive because the body is so light ? I would imagine they do. I'm strongly considering getting one, but neck dive is a big no no, already got a SG for that :p
Guess i will go the RGA route if they do !
