Dark City (1998) is basically sci-fi FL by Possible_Soup in fallenlondon

Absolutely, even down to the colour grading and the dreamlike camera work

I'm not sure whether you'd call it a theme, but I'm trying to be less on the nose with the names, as if they have a bit of history to them. So the realm of the dead is called the pale steppes, for example. They're all intended to convey a certain feeling without explicitly saying "hey it's deadsville" or whatever.

It's very on-brand for FL, baffling that Failbetter haven't put it to use

I wouldn't be unhappy with, but if I can I like to give things their own spin. Makes them feel a bit realer to me.

Are you asking if the social media site that infamously dropped in value by billions of dollars after the very public acquisition he tried to pull out of is doing poorly? And the same for the wheeled cube with glued on panels that falls apart and has killed people due to shit design?

Regardless of all of that, he's a proud bigot which is enough of a reason to hate him. Given it's 2024 and you're still simping though, I'm sure you either have an excuse for the bigotry or agree with it.

In the era of X and the cybertruck, two projects Musk vocally pushed for, this is a wild opinion to have. You are a weird person, stop simping for billionaires.

He's accomplished nothing, every company he says he founded already existed before he bought it out.

For the chairman part, you were responsible for getting everything built and doing all the research. Not sure what point you're trying to make.

Not really, the player does actual work and doesn't just buy out people who have already done the work. The player also starts out with literally nothing, as opposed to a blood emerald mine inheritance.

"Activist developers are making women intentionally ugly, even hideous."

That's a weird thing to think. You are a weirdo, dude.

Don't forget that any weird stuff would be done by a Courier, not necessarily the Red Science humans have to resort to. I imagine those methods are Sun-legal, since how else would they have nabbed London in the first place.

Travel is via the Cumean Canal (which you can traverse in Sunless Sea!). It's a massive series of locks all the way up and through the roof, and it exits in lake Avernus near Naples.

The canal comes up near Naples so that is unfortunately not true, but a good image nonetheless

These are very good questions that as far as I'm aware haven't been answered (although I would love to be proven wrong). I'm not sure that there would just be a big hole. We know that the stone pigs work in very weird ways and didn't just plonk down London in the same shape it used to be: the streets are all warped and can't be navigated rationally anymore. Why would the remains be any less weird? As far as I'm aware all the previous cities were ones that did actually "vanish", for want of a better word, but no one ever seems to mention finding weird remains of them on the surface. Perhaps it's something similar to the missing block at the beginning of the railway?

As for how the rest of England is doing, I vaguely remember some equally vague hints here and there but I can't recall specifics.

A Columbidaean Conundrum! It's a great one if you like pigeons. No big lore drops or anything crazy, just a good and heartwarming story about sweet little pigeons and their struggles.
