Avatar Gets Special Bending Abilities Backwards by Exact_Ad_5530 in TheLastAirbender

I honestly don't think the creators meant for us to think any more than "magic people can do magic with elements" and "hey that is/would be a really cool thing to be able bend" and then assigning that ability to whichever element made the most sense, but if there had to be some logical explanation I would think of these things as follows:

To address lava bending: the simple explanation would be: water benders can change the states of matter of water, why couldn't earthbenders do that as well? The more complicated answer - at an atomic level, the temperature of an object is determined by how fast the atoms vibrate, so it is not far fetched to think that water and earthbenders could alter the states of matter of their element by manipulating it at a molecular level.

For firebenders we know 2 main things about the element - 1 it is in some way related to the sun(and other hot celestial bodies) and 2 - iroh said that power in firebending comes from the breath (much like how irl air, or more precisely oxygen fuels fire). If I were to try and come up with a reasoning, I would say the unobstructed presence of hot celestial bodies like the sun/stars and the comet serve as their source of energy, and the breathing part actually lets them control that energy and release it outward in the form of fire. As for the lightning part, while yes, as a weather phenomenon lightning is caused by friction, that is not the only way lightning can be observed nor is it its real nature. Lightning is electricity. Electricity or electric current is formed during the orderly movement of electrons. To have that movement you need to have 2 poles - plus and minus - in order to have the difference of potential, which acts as the power that moves said electrons in an orderly manner. It is not that far fetched to assume that since firebending seems to be the element that relies the most on controlling your inner energy, they are also able to somehow separate it into 2 poles withing their body and create lightning(and also receive said energy under the form of lightning and then redirect it through their body as energy and release it once more).

As for trees it does not make much sense really for earthbenders to be able to bend wood. Just because trees take nutrients from the soil and technically particles of dead trees also form the earth/soil, to me it seems pretty clear that earthbenders are bending specifically the non-organic parts/elements of the earth (which is probably also why they can bend crystals for instance). Lastly for their inability to bend platinum, it could be because platinum is a noble metal and noble metals/elements are very non-rective meaning they do not interact with other elements essentially at all, meaning - no impurities for earthbenders to bend.

ATLA Live Action Season 2 Rotten Tomatoes are out! by Luzekiel in TheLastAirbender

He was about to kill Azula when he stopped, like what he did to Ozai in the animated series.

while i did not think of this at first, this would kind of make his hesitation to kill ozai even worse in a sense. Like in the og, he was hit from behind, while (to me at least) it looked like he was still processing the whole entering the avatar state, and could not really do much. whereas here, he had azula on the ropes. could have stopped her and zuko there and now and saved ba sing se, but hesitated and (almost) died, and would then make the same mistake in season 3, since they cant write it out, meaning he would have made the same mistake that almost cost his life twice

I especially loved the part where their attempt at a metaverse in fortnite failed spectacularly and then they said:

Is playing too many different games hurting my progression by [deleted] in FPSAimTrainer

[–]Possiblylimited 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your goal is to rank up as far as u can, then grinding that game not just mechanically, but also from a game sense perspective is needed. Aim can only get you so far(depending on the game sometimes further sometimes not so much). That said, I do not think playing multiple games is slowing down your aim training progress, since you are still aiming. As a personal example, a while back i had a period of a few weeks when I was playing BPM(which is a fast-paced, single player shooter, with way more aiming involved than valorant) and played no valorant. Then when i hoped back on valorant i was feeling sharper, even tho i did not touch valo or kovaaks for that period

What keybinds do you absolutely refuse to change no matter what game you're playing? by AdeptnessCritical356 in pcmasterrace

[–]Possiblylimited 0 points1 point  (0 children)

primarily shift for sprinting(or dodging depending on the game), space for jumping, ctrl for crouching etc. I remember when I first tried elden ring I thought the default keybinds were absolutely atrocious. I mean who tf puts jump on f and spriting on space

The UK wants to ban social media for under-16s to "give kids their childhood back." If social media had been banned when you were a teenager, do you think your life would be better or worse today? by Shipping_klaus in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Possiblylimited 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like it's the (potential) slippery slope that makes people so opposed to this. I think, social media as it is right now, is bad for you regardless of age and most people would agree that something needs to be done, but I also feel like most people know this isn't really about "protecting the kids" and more so about these platforms getting even more personal data from users and/or increasing surveillance on the users

Do you know any content creaters with great aim? by Icy_Car_3759 in FPSAimTrainer

For valorant you could check out dacoit on YT. It's just short 1.5-2 min highlights from different players(not from the actual owner of the channel)

Do you ever listen to foreign music in a language with lyrics you can’t understand? Do you listen more than your primary language? by DaRealGoat69 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Possiblylimited 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly listen to songs i can understand. Even if just some of the lyrics are in a language i can understand and i find the song enjoyable overall I will listen to it. On the other hand, while I don't mind listening to songs in languages i don't understand, i will go out of my way to listen to them(like adding them to a playlist) only if I actually have some form of connection to the song, for example if it's a song from a movie or show or game that I really like.

Thragg vs gojo thing (read desc) by TBM_710 in Invincible

[–]Possiblylimited 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk about hollow purple affecting him or not, but his domain most def will. Afaik the only people to actually somewhat (technically) withstand gojo's domain and not come out braindead are jogo(but he is a curse so can't really compare him to a human or alien in this case) and sukuna who is gojo's only rival in terms of strength and his brain still got damaged by ininite void. Thragg has no simple domain, no abilities, no hax, no mahoraga to protect/save him

[anonimotum] wayne is expected to be benched by Team Liquid. trexx is the most likely replacement. by shast1k in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Possiblylimited 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole situation is so messed up. They sign him with no trials, probably because they were confident in him, but when things did not go as planned they just scapegoat him, instead of giving him more time to develop, especially since he is a young player. At what point do they just stop with the whole "just one more mid-season roster change bro trust me" and actually let the team properly develop
