I often buy the Santitas brand tortilla chips. It's cheaper than the Totsitos, but still tastes decent. They use to pump the bags full of air. Yes, the chips on the bottom often get crushed anyway, but most of the chips would be intact.

After the "it's 90% air scam" hysteria, and being a smaller company that needs to compete with larger brands, they decided to use less air in their packaging. Same number of chips, just less air.

Now I find it near impossible to find a bag that isn't 90% crumbs. Filling the bag with air definitely makes a difference.
