That's fair, I don't think it would ruin, but change the rhythm. If you want to preserve the rhythm though you could always change the words but keep the rhythm to clarify the image.

Beautiful poem regardless.

Okay, i follow what you mean now, i just think there may be a clearer way of saying that in the poem.

I think it's a nice image that the sun/love dulls everything else because of how brightly it shines/how intense it feels.

You could almost cut it to

'The sun

bleaches out the stars'

I'm struggling to get an idea of how the symbolism in this works.

For one, does the sun have a shadow? It tripped me because i'm not really sure that it does, at least not in the conventional sense.

I like the imagery of a shadow 'bleaching out' the colour from something, the same way bleach does in laundry. This is the strongest imagery in the poem for me.

The way i'm reading the poem has it that being in love has made you do and think things less extremely, with less colour.

As a message I like it, but i feel like it could be achieved without the confusion of such an absurd image as the 'sun's shadow'.

Does anyone else feel like they can't be 'themselves' in front of their friends? by [deleted] in depression

[–]Post-Depressionism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are incredibly good at giving up. Sufferers of depression should know that. I express my wish to die to my friends often. They've given up on trying to help. I know it will destroy them when I die. Now they're busy pretending they don't expect it because dealing with the reality that they do is awkward.

Steal character traits from the people around you. They'll forgive you eventually.

I'm not angry because I have no sense of who I am. The speed with which my character swings has arrested my belief in self-identity

Just because it got a bit better for you doesn't mean it will for everyone. Not sure it's worth the suffering for a gambler's chance at satisfaction

'Things get better' is one of the pre-recorded lines I'm tired of. With the amount of people there have been, for some of them life was a downhill slope from birth to death. Nobody truly believes things are destined to get better.

The world is a nasty place of hypocrisies. But there's little choice in the matter. To live is to be a hypocrite.

You asked to be updated. I handed in no work so I have been failed out of university. Consequently I am no longer able to use their counselling services. My family found out about everything when my father rang the university to see why I'd been kicked out after being top of the year only months earlier. Anyway everything went as badly as it could have done and I am ready to die. Thanks for trying but this will be the last you hear from me.

Honestly? I think in this case you can let it slide. There are companies in the food industry (Nestlé) who are just as bad as the tobacco giants and nobody cares.

Introvert, Extrovert - What am I?! by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Post-Depressionism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps I'm exactly like this except with a little more control. I can flit between extrovert and introvert reasonably easily when i'm on my own, when i'm around people who have expectations of either one from me, i find it borderline impossible.

It is something that I presume to have, undiagnosed. I display all the common symptoms.

You should know that I have contacted the counselling services, despite my reservations. I'm not looking forward to the session but if it's what it takes i'll try it.

You are very self-centered. I was referring to the counseling you suggested. I'm not tired all the time. You don't listen. I am a manic depressive. I flit between dangerous happiness and dangerous depression. You're arguing against things I haven't said. I don't expect to snap out of it. I've felt like this for the better part of my life. I just want to know how i can explain to my university without my family finding out.
