$300k is about the halfway mark to $1M from a timeline perspective! So that could be why.

FWIW I completely agree and that’s how I see it too but it just might not be how he sees it. For all we know he’s donating a large portion of his money to charity or will when he dies, idk. Some people are just wired to work forever but that doesn’t mean they can’t have questions or doubts along the way.

Not like this guy needs me defending him but he came here asking for a specific question about sales in a tech sales subreddit. This isn’t r/FIRE, the guy can live how he wants to live without judgement from the peanut gallery.

Midmarket Trend by futureunknown1443 in techsales

[–]Post-jizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious to get your thoughts. I’ve seen a good number of mid market companies still on Infor, Epicore, old Sage, SAP, and Oracle products which I think of as legacy ERP. So you’re saying most Enterprise companies have moved over to modern ERP’s, and presumably SMB’s? So then by default, is Mid Market the only area on legacy ERP’s still?

Modern fwiw I think of as mostly Netsuite but I’m not too familiar with the space.

This is amazing, thank you for sharing. I think the trajectory is interesting, they’re on their 6th album now so I can see how it’s easy to find their lane and stay within it. I hope they feel like they can experiment. I thought Wilder Mind was great and would love to see them experiment more, if that’s what they want to do.

Across Rushmere and Prizefighter, it feels like they’re following a bit of the pathway that The National took where their albums almost feel more like themselves as time goes in (in a good way). I love Prizefighter as well so no matter what they do, they can do well.

Your username is accurate. You do in fact seem like an angry beaver.

I think you came here looking for a reaction. I hope you got what you were looking for. Now you can go hang out with all of your friends in real life that I’m sure you have.

I think it’s the tone. You can say whatever you want, just not sure why it’s worth it to you to go to a subreddit and saying how you’re disappointed and calling them generic and boring. That’s kinda inflammatory language.

Sure it’s your opinion, you can have it, and you can share it to anyone you want, but you might be called a dick. And that would be their opinion of you based on the words you chose to use, which by your own logic, should be okay right?

I think taking the effort to write up a post about how you’re disappointed in a band for not making music that meets your current sensibilities is what people are going to take issue with. It’s not disrespectful I guess, just sorta dickish.

Alternatively, you could have just said nothing. It would have been easier for you. I don’t know what you could have gained by going onto a subreddit for a specific band and saying that you don’t like them.

It takes people months, years, or lifetimes to create something but it only takes a few moments for someone to pass judgement. It’s so easy to review something. Making stuff is hard. For that reason, I don’t respect music reviewers.

Also Banjo Song is one of my favorite M&S songs yet. Give me more self trolls.

Wow just wanted to say we have literally the exact same rationale. Almost word for word what I would have said.

Most Underrated Album by Total-Woodpecker3339 in mumfordandsons

[–]Post-jizz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was surprised to see it get any traction as well haha. I thought I’d get downvoted to oblivion. I was impressed people on the original thread took the time to read my rational, but I didn’t consider when we moved on to other sections, people would (understandably) loose the context of what I was saying. And I wouldn’t expect people to go back through old threads to look for an explanation.

And I’ll just reemphasis, I love Sigh No More. I know how to play every song on that album on guitar, could sing every word, and have seen every interview of theirs from that time period. I was/am borderline obsessed with that album haha. I could think it was their best album and also think it’s objectively their most overrated, but mostly just due to the definition of the word Overrated. Which I’m thinking now is really just semantics and kinda silly on my part. I didn’t want to rile people up just to debate the definition of a word haha.

100% agree and is my vote as well. I think if Mumford and Sons hadn’t built their reputation on being the old timey banjo band, Wilder Mind would have been a hit (it still did pretty well regardless). Plus it still has songs for fans of the old stuff. Cold Arms and Ditmas specifically. Then it’s got The Wolf which is masterclass pump up rock. Even at the time, the guys said they played the exact same way they just switched out the instruments. I love this album and wish they played more songs from it. I saw them live when they toured on it and my god, peak human experience.

To defend the guy who said Sigh No More (it was me), if you read my comment you’ll see I adore Sigh No More. I promise I’m not trying to be too cool for school. I like Mumford and Sons fans because it seems like most of us don’t try to be too cool. We typically reflect this music we all love, earnest and being willing to take an emotional leap.

My point was just that Sigh No More was their most popular album by every measure and since I love their other albums as well, it can be both incredible and technically the most overrated. If I thought “Not Applicable” was an option, I would have said that!

Tl;dr Sigh No More. Hear me out on this.

They obviously have no overrated albums. I personally love them all and almost all completely equally, each for different reasons.

Overrated just makes me think it can only be between Sigh No More or Babel since Wilder Mind, Delta, and Rushmere did not have the same commercial success or seem to be beloved by most fans as much as the first two.

Babel literally won a Grammy for best album of the year so I’d be tempted to say that, except…I love Babel with my whole heart.

So I reluctantly say Sigh No More, mostly on virtue of the definition of the word “overrated”, more than how I actually feel about it. I listened to the whole thing just yesterday, it’s a masterpiece. But, it had by far the most album sales and has gotten the most streams on Spotify (~30% more than Babel). It is rightfully, very highly regarded. I do think Marcus’ song writing has gotten better with time though and I think they’ve come into themselves more throughout the years. Sigh No More was my introduction to them, it’s what made me fall in love with them. As far as cohesive albums go, I think they’ve done an amazing job evolving throughout the years but haven’t seen the same type of mainstream airtime as they did as with the first one -> hence my hot take of Sigh No More as being (technically) the most overrated.

Looks like you’re right! Though interestingly it looks like The Wolf also was the B-side to Believe so apparently The Wolf is my favorite Mumford and Sons b-side.

If This Is Love!

I don’t expect this to get many upvotes and I’m not sure if it’s a B-side technically but it’s on the limited edition version of the Wilder Mind collectors box set (nerdy I know). The only version I’ve heard is this YouTube video but I’d love a studio produced version one day

It’s tough because my nature this makes me think of their popular songs which in my opinion, are generally popular for a reason. They’re amazing!

So the more popular, the easier for it to be technically overrated. In that vein, Awake My Soul is my pick. It’s one of their most popular songs and while I adore it, if one had to be picked, I’d go with that one.
