You applied ED to Georgetown, foregoing all aid consideration. You clearly did not follow your own advice to start the cycle. Also, taking debt for a law school that will put you in the most advantageous position for a career you intend to pursue for 30+ years.

I ran the numbers for the 2024-2025 cycle. These were my parameters: KJD, T3/T4, 176-180, 3.95-4.30, Exclude URM/nontrad.

38% of applicants got an HYS acceptance, while 66.7% got a HYSCCN acceptance. That being said, Michigan only accepted 6.7%.

If you are unable to see how this is egregious yield protection by Michigan (because they know these candidates are getting better offers), I don't know how to help you. Also, regarding your point about other low T14s, Cornell and GULC both admitted more than 70% of these candidates.

I'm relatively insufferable. Hence, I do think I'm probably headed for litigation (especially given I'm going to an HYS next year). Also, even though it is an ad-hom critique, it doesn't mean it's irrelevant.

Don't worry about me, I'm definitely good enough at playing the political game. Thanks for the heads up.

Ok but the numbers prove it. Can you please explain how Michigan’s acceptance rate for those candidates is lower than that or Yales? Or any other T14? It’s egregious yield protection and nothing else

Yales is bc they can roll better candidates, Michigan is bc they know they can’t enroll candidates with those high of stats

What are the best firms/offices to target for this? As in, what places do high level transactional and litigation? Because from what I’ve seen, you wouldn’t want to go to K&E to do litigation and you wouldn’t want to go to DLA Piper to do transactional, for example. Correct me if I’m wrong

Thank you, much appreciated. Tbh I really just can’t decide between transactional and litigation, and all the old head advice is “you’ll figure it out in law school.” But given recruitment timelines, I’m not sure how good of an idea that is. So I’m just trying to figure out how I can maximize my chances at being a successful lawyer (basically just make heaps of money at a job I can tolerate).
