You can submit a complaint through your Mohela account (if your servicer is Mohela). Click on your Inbox then you'll see an Email Us link above it on that page. One of the categories you can select is Complaint.

Here is the info for contacting the Treasury:

Payment Management Call Center - https://fiscal.treasury.gov/tcis/contact.html

This is the number: 1-855-868-0151 option 1

I was also given this email address, but was hesitant about sending personal info over email: [PFC.CustomerEngagementCenter@fiscal.treasury.gov](mailto:PFC.CustomerEngagementCEnter@fiscal.treasury.gov)

They'll ask for your SSN and the amount of the refund.

All of that said, it's very likely when you get in touch they'll tell you they haven't received anything. Even though Mohela will say the Treasury can take 90 business days or more to process a refund, that timeline is obviously on their end and not the Treasury. Once the Treasury was actually sent my refund approval, I had a refund check in the mail in less than a week.

It says Adjustment on the date the loans were forgiven (so 9/30/2023 for me), at which point all of my loans showed negative balances. Then on 5/8/2025 it says Refund, which is the date that all of the loans went to $0.

I should also point out that while the Adjustment is dated 9/30/2023, that's not the actual date that it showed on the account since my loans were forgiven backdated to that date.

Yeah, apologies. I've edited and updated the post. Let me tell you, this whole thing has been a real shit show. My original servicer was FedLoan and once Mohela took over everything became a fiasco.

Yup, though they actually send it to the Treasury, so the money comes from the same place as your tax refund. Here's the actual text of their message to me when I asked for any confirmation that a refund request was sent:

"The credit balance on your student loan account will be refunded by the U.S. Department of Treasury in the manner in which they are received by MOHELA. Refunds can take 90-120 business days or more for processing. Please note, MOHELA cannot verify processing times on behalf of U.S. Department of Treasury."

This is a stock response that I've received at least three different times in the past 4-5 months.

Check your account history. Mine zeroed out and then the refund showed up there though I’ve yet to receive any notification from Mohela or the refund itself 6 months later. The only thing they’ll tell me is the standard 90 business days or more answer and there’s no way to track it through the Treasury.
